Wow. Where do I start? I initially spoke multiple times with their rep Lawrence. We explained to him that we wanted to switch from PayPal to his merchant services to save on fees. Our biggest concern was having our customer payments held up by Elevon, since our clients pay large monthly subscription fees. Lawrence took notes on how much our highest, lowest, and average subscriptions are, as well as monthly volume. He assured us this wouldn't happen. Sure enough, the first 5 invoice payments were held up. A rep named Felicia sent emails stating that they wanted yet more information before releasing. We couldn't pay our employees until the monies were released so this really hurt our business. We provided all the info asked for, as well as a year of PayPal invoices of the same amounts and same customers, yet she still wouldn't release our funds. She then had the nerve to call our biggest client without our permission and grilled him. He said she was rude and asked how he knew us, what the subscriptions were for, and other personal information. We had to call our 8 year client and calm him down so as not to lose him. Felicia's correspondence with our client was unacceptable. How people like her have jobs is beyond me. Then Felicia sent an email stating we were being terminated as a new client! We provided everything they asked and they did this. Unbelievable! Their rep Lawrence kept leading me on asking me to send email after email explaining what Felicia said. He stated that we just got a bad rep and that he was corresponding with her boss to get us taken care of. He obviously was not truthful, as we were terminated and he never called back. Stay away from Elavon! They closed my account immediately right after one email notification. Caused loss of sales because I had to scramble to find another merchant processor for my online store. They also refused to settle any payments authorized by them but wasn't captured because my account was closed causing loss of thousands in sales. We signed up for this credit card processing service for a new corporation that we established. Our company uses World Pay, but we were told that Elavon would be more cost-effective for the new company we created. On our first transaction, we put in all the required information and got all green checks on the platform regarding potential fraud. The charge went through but then received an email from an Elavon investigator. The transaction was frozen until we supplied literally the same information that we included in the transaction. WorldPay never did this. All I could think of is that periodically, we would have to spend extra time to justify transactions...things wholly unnecessary and things for which we had no time nor tolerance. I emailed them back to refund the cardholder and to cancel our account. They cancelled our account and in doing so stated that their company reserved the right to cancel w/o notice any account and they were doing just that. They also said that the money that we charged would be returned to the cardholder 90+ days from now. So, we can't charge the client for at least 3 months for the service already provided. This company is beyond insulting and infantile as they were firing us after we fired them... Reminded me of what a small child would say after...I'm not going to your party,,, then the child responds, I can uninvite who I like, and you are now uninvited. Hello Mr. Walker, I am reaching out to you today as I have no other option and I am extremely disgruntled after speaking with one of your employees who is representing your company. We are small family run business. My company was using Elavon as our payment processor and due to the nature of our business which was phone services, our business together is no longer active. Our account was closed 2 weeks ago which is fine, and we have since changed to paypal as our payment provider. Elavon has held a large reserve of our money for refunds/chargebacks. We have have 86 customers who need refunds, and Elavon is not allowing us to refund our customers which in turn is resulting in chargebacks. Due to the inability to refund our customers Elavon is deliberating causing financial loses to our company, as there is a chargeback fee that we must pay. I called your employee Jennifer Groover, and explained the situation to her, and please keep in mind not all people have paypal. Her answer right away was: "I'm not opening your account again to refund customers, it's a lot of work" "It's your fault you haven't found a new processor yet, it's been two weeks" I explained to her that not everyone has paypal, and her answer was simply I don't care and I'm not opening your account. You need to get your new payment process to repay these customers. Once again please keep in mind not all customers have paypal and it is nearly impossible to find a new payment processor approved and ready to go in a span of two weeks. Her tone was extremely rude and dismissive, and I really hope you record your employee's conversations as I sincerely hope she doesn't represent what your company stands for. I was all excited about switching from Wells Fargo Merchant Services to Costco choice of Elavon because I liked the rates and was told that my money would be deposited in my account the next day or the day after (weekends excluded). the first charge went through perfectly and then I didn't see my money being deposited anymore. I spoke to my sales rep and he seemed just as confused as me and said that he would get to the bottom of it. Well they are an east coast company and I am sitting here after 5 pm on the west coast without so much as an email, never mind the phone call I was promised to straighten things out. then it dawned on me that the reason their rates are better is because they sit on my money for a day or two extra and earn interest off it will I have to scramble to figure out how to pay my bills because I believed their bullshit. The worst experience ever!!! Stay away!!! Richard Freeman, one of their CA reps promised me a seamless transition from BofA to Elavon. It turned out to be a nightmare that cost me close to $500. As it turns out their software is NOT compatible with Aloha. I had to run my transactions off line while we figured out Elavon is not compatible with my Aloha. Took them almost 2 weeks to figure it out which cost me money in bad credit cards. Horrible and disgusting company especially Richard Freeman. I was charged a CARD ASSOC FEE of $15.25 on my May 2020 statement. Elavon could not tell me what this is I asked to have this disputed. Elavon told me they can and will not file a dispute. They put me on hold forever and just gave me the runaround. During Covid-19 our Beauty Salon had to close temporarily. We called Evalon to and asked not to charge the $20 per month minimum fee. Sales rep completely clueless, but apparently you are stuck with the same case manager. Sent equipment that was so old it had dust on it; does not work with their software. Had to go through multiple ppl to get equipment requested. Business partner wanted to use same equipment with her account at our office - they could NEVER get this correct. Kept telling us that she had equipment that we do not have. How hard is this? Run credit cards on the same computer into 2 different accounts? Apparently impossible for them. This a what I wrote elavon customer service about a recent experience I had with them . I've been with them for at least ten years. I've been thinking of going to paypal especially now that they have a terminal that prints receipts. My recent experience with Elavon tech support left me feeling that they don't know what their doing. On Saturday 9/21 my ingenico ict250 came up with a message say update download failed next try being Sunday 9/22. Which is normal as I was at market and using phone line so on sunday I plug it into the ethernet and when auto download happen I got message download failed err -4. So Monday I called tech support they had me change something and got the software downloaded. I should have run a trial run then but I didn't for usually an update doesn't cause any problems. Tech support should have told me that I had a whole new program not just a simple update. So on Wednesday 9/25 I thought I would run a trial before putting machine in card to take to market. It would not work right. Called tech support they did another download still didn't work right they said the send me another machine. On Thursday got machine and also checked bank statement online found a charge for $255 which tech forgot to mention to me. Called Friday about this charge and was told it was normal and was part of contract I had sign which I don't remember signing. See I've never bought a machine from elavon. You charge double or triple the going rate for brand new machine. I bought my machine online and had you install the software on it. My machine was working fine until this latest software update. I can see why elavon is not recommended for small businesses and I won't recommend elavon to anyone either. The only reason I got you was the bank I did business with quit processing card and went to nova ten years ago. And I went with their recommendation at the time I had my own machine and I've always bought my machine on line as elavon machines cost double or triple what I could buy online. That they had to be good.... wrong, I applied for their product and never heard back from them despite several attempts to the agent and the agents manager. Bottom line, I was able to get the same processing and equipment from Chase bank. Amazingly for less. Sadly that merchant company's can't be ethical and fourth right. On the phone now for over 40 minutes. Last Friday I spent an hour, mostly on hold. I see that with rare exception, everyone gives these folks a one-star rating. Like most, wish there was an option for no stars. Elavon switched to a different portal for clients to access their bills and fee details. Well, the new site makes it very hard to see true detail. Mostly what they want us to see is a summary, that is very opaque in hiding fees and how they are derived. So, I wait on hold for someone to get me into this detail (used to be very easy) and then I am told that they are having issues with the website. That was last week. having the same experience this week. I know that Elavon is huge. But, their business practices seem to be devious. There is a lack of customer support. I was forced to use this company though a third party intermediary that my POS software created a proprietary relationship to handle direct input of credit card transactions into the system. I decided to use them to prevent human factor errors from screwing up my accounting. I had been with them for 2 years with no issues. I have never had a charge-back, a erroneous bill, or a cancelled transaction. Our building had a major fire with all utilities disconnected. We displaced to a new site. It took 10 days for us to get AT&T to forward our number and get our internet back up and running. We had a couple other things going on too. Tried to run a couple of cards we had invoices for and could not process them. Call the third party merchant account and they forwarded me to Elavon customer service to sort out the issue. They had closed my account... Seems a customer decided to dispute a transaction and demand a refund of the non-refundable deposit (the money had already been spent on authorized expenditures). They ad tried to call the land line (melted in the fire). Then tried to seize the funds from the incoming funds account (empty). They decided we were no longer in business. I explained the fire and the transaction. We had documents, emails, and signed invoices to prove the charge-back was not warranted, which we supplied. I asked them to re-instate our account so we could process the standing bills. I was told it would take 4-6 hours. Three days later and many phone calls to Elavon, we still could not process cards. All the while, they continued to try to access the funds from my account, causing NSF fees to be charged back to us. I closed my bank account associated with Elavon and started a new processing company that day. I now use Prolific Business Solutions. I have a direct customer service representative assigned to my account. I am very pleased with the new company. I care less about rates and more about running my business. With prolific... Second one no Internet connection and phone line connection is unstable and I have lost so many customers because of the issues. The agent wanted me to pay for shipping for the 3rd replacement in less than 2 weeks, I was so mad yelling at her: "Are you kidding me? Elavon sent me junk machines that are not working and I still have to pay rental fees for them!!! My experience is similar to Dr. Haughton-Green, except I brought it on myself. After all those threatening emails late in 2017 that our terminals would no longer be compliant, I upgraded in early 2018 to a new terminal. On the phone I ordered an Ingenico 250 for $459; what I received was a Verifone terminal for $489 (it was also incorrectly set up for dial-up instead of internet, which required a couple of calls to fix, but whatever). When I called, my account manager apologized for the "mistake" and promised to refund the difference. Of course, that refund never came. Shortly thereafter, Costco advertised a promotion in which you could get a $200 gift card for buying an Ingenico terminal (like I had tried to do in the first place). I spoke with Jean Desarmes who offered to exchange my Verifone for the Ingenico, and then I would be eligible for the promotion. When the new Ingenico arrived, I shipped back the Verifone. The charge for the new terminal was on my account immediately, but I knew the refund would take some time until they received the terminal and processed the return. When several weeks had gone by without the refund, I contacted Jean again. On May 9th he told me that the refund had never been processed, but was being taken care of "that day." It should show in my account in 7-10 business days. It's now 15 business days later. No refund. No Costco gift card. Call to Jean went to voicemail. Not to mention, the Ingenico terminal is a POS (and I don't mean point of sale) compared to the Verifone one and I wish I hadn't bothered with any of this in the first place. But currently Elavon owes me over $500 cash and a $200 gift card and I have no idea if or when I'll ever get it back. read more

After getting fed up with fraudsters going onto my payment site to verify credit card numbers, I called their customer support team to prevent this activity from happening. The software technician supposedly added filters to prevent this from happening any further. A week later, a fraudster tried verifying over 80,000 credit card numbers in a few hours using Elavon's system. A week after that, Elavon debited my account $30,670.58 for those fraudulent authorization attempts!!!!! Unbelievable!!! When I call for a refund, all they do is give me the run around and act like it wasn't their fault. What credit card company allows this to happen on their platform and then blame the customer???? Then after my 1st sale Elavon held ovwr $2000 captive in there loss prevention dept for no reason. Ive been an established business for 18.years. Tried them bc they claimed to have better service and rates. Not true. They outright lie. Had to complain to multiple people which did no good except me finally getting my money. Now i closed the account and opened a new account with another service which only took 10 minutes! Brandy in the loss prevention dept for Elavon likes to play games with our money. Do yourself a HUGE favor and dont even give elavon a slight bit of a chance. They will screw you. A letter following 2 weeks later after freezing my money says that can homd your sales money up to 270 days with periodic reviews before they release YOUR funds held in their security reserve account. Nothing disclosed verbally or in writing about holding your money. Bait and switch game they play whe they hold your money in an account and probably make interest off it while the merchant loses money. FYI for everyone. My gross sales per year exceed 400G. Have sales of 20G or more per month. Now think about them freezing your account no matter what the amount when you have bills, products and rent to pay on your building to do business. Their representative (Monique in Atlanta) told us to buy one or pound sand. When confronted, she was very helpful telling us to pretty much to screw off and offered a phone number to call to cancel the account. Which is what we did.
