I will let the email threads below speak for themselves.... To whom it may concern, We have been an Elavon (Merchant Services) customer for over 30 years. Due to the recent actions of Elavon that will no longer be the case. Last week we got our monthly statement dated 9/30/2017 and discovered a $99.00 "ACCT FEE" that is in addition to the $10.00 "MNTHLY FEE" that appears on every statement. When I called customer service I was told this is an annual fee. I disagreed with this and since I had not agreed to the charge I asked to have it refunded. The customer service agent informed me he had authorization to only lower it to $49.00. This was not acceptable and again I asked for a full refund of a non-authorized $99.00 charge or cancel the service. When he stated he could not I told him to cancel our service andI asked for a supervisor. The supervisor was even more belligerent about the non-refund. I told her since I canceled the service there should be no annual account fee. She still was unwilling to refund the $99.00 So to sum it up, although your customer service was willing to provide a $50.00 refund for a fee that was not authorized, they refused to refund the entire amount even to lose customers over. I am not sure if your customer numbers are in the hundreds of thousands or millions but let's take the lower number of that 100,000 x $99.00 is nearly a $10,000,000 windfall. Wow!!! You can do the math for millions of customers. So we are done with Merchant Services Elavon. I canceled our account (Account# 000000??????????) last Thursday via phone with your customer service. This email is intended to provide written confirmation on that cancellation. I again demand a refund of the $99.00 that was taken from us without authorization. It is wrong to pick the pockets of the customers that are already paying very well for your services. In order for us to close out any account, we must first verbally verify security.Please be prepared to provide your merchant ID number and your full federal tax ID when you call in. My response..... I verbally closed it last week. I gave them all the information you listed in your email below. If they did not record it on your end, that is not my fault. The reasoning you provided is flawed. I am sure you read every detail on every billing statement that you receive but I must admit I do not. We have been receiving this statement for many years. We simply verify all the receipts we have match the statement and then record the money that Elavon takes for these transactions and the monthly fee. We did not read the "News For You" section so we were not aware of the sentences that states: "TO CONTINUE OUR INVESTMENT IN SCEURITY, WE WILL BILL AN ANNUAL ACCOUNT FEE OF $99.00 ON YOUR SEPT. STATEMENT". This sentence does not state that it is retroactive to the past 2017 year. If I had known I was going to be billed for 2017 I would have disputed it in January, 2017 or before in August 2016 or canceled as I have now. Elavon cannot bill retroactively without a more proper notice than a blurb on a monthly statement. This should have been done in a more formal manner like a separate mailing. Try again. read more

Elavon is by far not only the worst Merchant service company, but probably the most dishonest and unethical company currently operating on planet earth. They said whatever they needed to pull our business from our former merchant provider of 7 years. Within our first 3 months, they processed $1.3m which is our standard. Then without warning their Risk team decided to hold our funds without provocation or reason for the past 3 weeks holding over $70k and let us know unless we provided a $700,000 Line of Credit our account would be canceled?!? NO Warning, NO ability to other options, nothing--and we've never had a chargeback or return in 7 years. No chargebacks, no fraud, no reason whatsoever to warrant this action. They would only respond after multiple follow ups, only agreed to release funds after multiple follow ups and incorporating attorney involvement. They lost a client for no reason and we'll certainly do all we can to warn others to not get blindsided by this corrupt company. Costco should be ashamed this is their preferred partner. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This company's charges are horrendous especially when you want to leave. I would not recommend this company. Their merchant services division in Knoxville, TN just doesn't seem to be able to get things right. They continue to make monthly charges to inactive and active accounts that are not valid. We are still waiting for them to refund approximately $200.00 in incorrect charges to our linked US Bank account. read more

I signed up with EVALON credit Card processing through their Agent Mansoor Brothers Enterprise. I was on No Fee contract with them but after two months the debited me $ 60.95 each month though we had no transaction due to COVID-19. Ultimately I called them and requested to close my account with loss of $120.90 on FEE. read more

I was convinced to go with Elavon instead of square by one of their reps in the bank and they said they had no fees. I opened the account before actually starting my business. After three months when I go to open my business I notice Elavon had already billed me $126. This caused over $100 in overdraft fees as well. I hadn't even swiped a card yet. I rarely write reviews but Elavon is not a good company to deal with. Their machine 2 times in one month deleted our processed payments suddenly and 2 months later I am still calling trying to get our money back. They keep telling me they will put a RUSH processing and then 3 weeks later we still do not have our money. I have spoken to supervisors, our sales consultant that got us to sign up with them etc and STILL NOTHING. We finally got some of the money but not all. I would NEVER recommend this company. Too many different stories every time I called as to what they can and cannot do. They may be a bit less expensive for fees but after 1 year they are just about the same. As a summary of my experience with Elavon: Lack of competence, integrity and terribly poor customer service. If you want union pay processing and quality customer care, go elsewhere. It all began when we tried to process one of our clients union pay cards without success. We spent countless hours back and forth with several tech support individuals over duration of two weeks. No one knew what they were doing. After being bounced to different managers from a handful of departments, no one was able to provide us a solution and then we thought we hit a break. We had one tech support technician who promised that they fixed the issue with a terminal download. Confident that the roadblock had been removed as we were assured that our issue was fixed, we had our client make yet another trip to our shop to provide payment for her large order. Only to be faced with embarrassment. When we called Elavon again, they then tried to say it was our client's card and so we had them call their bank that assured us it was our merchant provider. More embarrassment. We were at our shop until 9:00pm with a VIP client trying to fix a mess Elavon put us in. Needless to say it required some expensive bottles of Champaign to defuse the situation. We lost a $60K sale because of union pay and their lack of competence. When we needed help from our account manager most, he was nowhere to be found. After two weeks of trying to get this resolved, there was no contact from him. I guess he felt that forwarding my concerns to a tech support rep that didn't know what union pay was, was good enough customer support for $60K transaction. I can't imagine the customer support one would get if their business were doing small transaction amounts. We completely exasperated all of the contacts with Elavon as our file was escalated to management and senior tech support and finally after hitting a dead end on two very large transactions, we decided to terminate Elavon. It wasn't until we sent an email requesting that our account be closed that Brandon bothered picking up the phone to call us. Rather than apologizing for our terrible experience and loss profit, he proceeded to say "it should accept union pay". 'It should' an 'it does' very different things and when you're a retailer offering luxury goods in Vancouver where the market is driven by wealthy Asian money, union pay and union pay hybrid card processing is a MUST! Yes, Brandon, it should because you promised it could but Elavon also said they would set up my account as per our request and failed on that too. Did I forget to mention I requested that we rent our terminal and that they billed us for it instead and because I didn't catch this in the fine print, I'm stuck with an $800 terminal that I would love to throw off a cliff. Bottom line, Elavon is better suited for businesses that don't require excellent customer service and don't mind purchasing terminal equipment. read more

Customer service??? None of the 20 different employees have even the slightest concept of the word or meaning. I had a small business merchant account with the company. After closing the account funds were to be released as I had had no chargeback or issues with them. After calling clients to verify charges, I'm embarrassing me they finally said funds were released. That was 3 weeks ago. And funds would be in the account in 1-3 business days. Called back the following week, again funds were released and they have no idea why we're not getting paid. And this goes on for 3 freaking weeks, end of month without the funds hitting my account, guess what? Elavon withdraws the their charges from my bank account for which they haven't even paid me. WTF??? Call them again... the Loss Prevention manager claims she had released the funds but has no idea what the problem is so she says I'm going to re- release it LOL this was on the 2nd of June. Claims again 1-3 business days. Well today is the 7th of June and nothing yet. I call this jacked up company again and ask to speak to someone higher up. After keeping me on hold for 2-3 minutes to get their stories straight a "supervisor" comes on the line and claims that her Loss Prevention Manager that I've been dealing with for the past 3 weeks was not aware that after funds are released they sit there for 8-10 business days before going into my account. AND she says start counting from the 4th because the funds were released later in the day on the 3rd. Seriously WTF?? This is how shady this company is WOW oh to top it off, I call the Elavon main number to speak to someone higher than the last clown, they transfer me to someone named Cindy, I ask why her position is there and she's hesitant to to answer. She asks my name and again I ask what her name is she says "I'm sorry I'm away from my desk now, can I call you back?" Without waiting for a response back clicks on me. Shady shady shady!! I am now determined, if I have to spend every bit of that money and then some I will get them back for lol the stress they've put me and my employees through. this company is recommended by Costco. don't buy it. not worth the hassle. after sending everything they asked for, they closed my account. when i called to have it reopened they said it was because I hadn't returned their calls so they couldn't prove it was "me". mind you, I had applied through the Costco website, sent a copy of my license and multiple emails from my business account. I was on hold for one A total of 3.75 hours to try to get it resolved. after closing, they then went into my checking account and took $500 for a machine I didn't want or orde, without telling me first. I shipped it back after having to call Costco to get relief and they are now saying it will take 7 to 10 business days to refund. mind you. they got their money in 8 hours when they closed my account, but from call to Costco to refund it will take nearly 4 weeks. they truly only care about covering their asses instead of customer service. it's like a cable company from the 80s, mixed with a grain of telecom from the 90s. stay away. read more

I can add to the reviews stated here. We run a non-profit foundation in Los Angeles that raises money for children. Every dollar we raise goes to support programs for the children in Los Angeles. Six years ago (and this is key) we used Elavon for a fund raising event so that we could collect donations on credit cards. I CLOSED THE ACCOUNT IN JUNE OF 2008 following the end of our event. The Foundation went dormant and just this year, we decided to re-launch. As I reviewed our bank statements, I found that Elavon has been charging us for SIX YEARS! When I called them, they touted policy and it wasn't their fault, we should have been more thorough... blah blah blah. So here we are. Elavon has charged us $6,000 in fees - fees that could have gone to CHILDREN! And when I asked for at least a three year refund, they refused offering us a token $800! We need to stop Elavon from stealing from any organization - not just one that helps feed and clothe CHILDREN! read more

I see a not so favorable trend here with their ratings and I confirm that it's mostly true. Long long waits on the phone, issues not resolved to satisfaction. If you switch company for CC processing, do not assume your account with Elevon closes out automatically- it doesn't. They will keep billing you "service fee" for non rendered services and when you catch this finally, they will not credit back. The supervisor that I dealt with (Kathy Sparks) just refers to the fine prints of the original service agreement- I get it- but if you were their customer for many years down they made good money off you ($50k+ paid to them in fees alone), being flexible with these minute detail ($100 or so in "service charge") is not such a bad idea and doesn't leave me with strong intention of never doing business with them again in the future. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but for this company I had too. If I could give them a lower rating I would. I have been in business with them for 6 years under a salon I was with. I decided to leave the salon and rather close my account with Elavon I decided to keep them. I spoke with customer service and they advised me to cancel my account and open a new one rather to transfer it because it was less paperwork for them to do. After opening my new account it was all down hill from there. I was told everything was going to stay the same regaurding my fees and that was not true. I am now being charged fees I was never told About. The rate i was being charged per transaction was really high compared to other similar companies but because I had never had any problems with them I'm the past I decided to keep them. I have no problem paying more if I get better customer service which I thought I was. I was wrong. Customer service was awful. I would call for a question and they couldn't help me because apparently I wasn't calling the right number every time.(I was calling the number they list as customer service) I would be transferred to different departments and still was in the "wrong" department. I would leave messages and would not get called back. My funds were being held and they couldn't tell me why. I wanted to cancel and return my equipment since day 1but kept giving them another chance because of my 6+ years i have used them. Now that I want to terminate my account I can't get a refund on the equipment I had to purchase. They knew I wasn't happy since the day I signed up with my new service (service and with my equipment) they kept telling me to give them another chance. Now that I have and my issues are still unresolved they won't help me. Save yourself the headache and your money. read more

ELAVON RUINED MY LIFE! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! I started using Elavon about half a year ago, I decided to switch to them from Stripe because they offered faster payout times. The onboarding process took months and seemed very weird, the customer service appeared to be just as confused as I was and it was very primitive compared to payment providers like Stripe where you could just get going within days. When I was finally able to make the switch from Stripe to Elavon I was running high volume on my store. A few days later I got an email from their risk team asking for some information, I totally understood as I started using them while running high volume and almost all of my transactions were the same amount as I was mainly selling the same product. I submitted the information that same day and even though I thought about switching back to Stripe until it was all cleared I thought "I will just stick with Elavon, all my sales are completely legit so I will be fine". The review took very long and I found out that the guy that was reviewing my case had gone on vacation! Finally, after waiting over a week while still running ads and processing transactions to Elavon, they came back to me and said they could not verify that my transactions where legit and they would REFUND ALL TRANSACTIONS TO CUSTOMERS WHICH AMOUNTED TO OVER $10,000! I could not afford to lose that kind of money as only a small portion of it was profit and it would instantly put my company I debt! I had no doubt that my transactions were legit as 1) I could see that I acquired them all from running Facebook ads 2) the fraud filter in Shopify, which is the e-commerce platform I used, gave almost all my transactions a low-risk rating 3) my previous payment provider Stripe never raised a single red flag and neither did PayPal which I was using alongside Elavon. I tried to get them to review my account again and give them additional information, but they did not change their mind and they suspended my account and proceeded with the refunds. I had to stop all my ads and completely set my store on pause, I tried to recoup some of the sales by emailing my customers and notifying them about their payment being refunded, but I was only able to get back a small fraction of the sales and I received a lot of bad reviews from customers about not getting their order because they hadn't seen the email. I later come to find out that Elavon had also registered me into credit card blacklists as a SCAMMER, this made me unable to get a new payment provider and I had to completely shut down my store. They refused to remove me from the list because 1) I had disabled 3DS as it did not properly work with Shopify, 3DS was not a requirement at the time and all my customers were from the US and Australia where 3DS is not a thing so it wouldn't matter. Customer support told me that it would be no problem to disable it and did it for me, and 2) because I sold product from another category that I told them I would (I told customer that I was selling all kinds of stuff, but I would start off by selling baby products, so they told me to just write that I sold baby products, but I ended up selling fitness products as well). Now I have started a new store with a new company on a new address so that I could get a new payment provider, I just started making money with my new store and I were excited to finally be able to pay off the debt Elavon had put me in, but now my current payment provider found my personal name in the credit card blacklist and immediately suspended my account. THIS MEANS THAT I CAN NO LONGER RUN AN ONLINE BUSINESS PERIOD! Several years of learning about running online businesses just out the window because of Elavon! I will try and contact them again to get me removed from the blacklist and if they refuse again, I will not hesitate to take legal action. I have spoken to my lawyer and he told me that it looked like they had mishandled my case and I could potentially sue for damages. All-in-all this is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any company and I would strongly advise you to stay away! read more

Elavon claims to charge the lowest fees for providing credit card services to merchants. Not true! Although their representative in the SF Bay area, James McGarry, claimed that their fees would "usually be 2.9%, 3.9% in unusual circumstances" I was, over almost 12 months, always charged 3.9%, PLUS additional nickel & dime fees. In one month when I had NO credit card activity, I was charged $98.95 in fees. McGarry never returned my calls. Once when I did contact him, he promised to get back to me, and never did. This company does not need to steal your wallet, as they have direct access to your bank account and can steal directly from that. read more

Stay away from Elavon! Their contracts are quite the scam. As a new, small business owner, I was referred to an Elavon representative by my trusted bank of 20 years. I have since made formal complaints to my bank, to Elavon, and to Ladco Leasing. The Elavon Rep misrepresented the fees and services thru Elavon and Ladco. I found myself locked into a 4 year non-cancellable lease with Ladco (a contract that will collect 10 times the cost of the merchant equipment) in addition to annual fees. On top of that, Elavon has a $99 annual fee and monthly minimum service fees in addition to it's swipe and keyed fees. So, during my first three months in business, where I made very little money, I paid over $500 in fees (which included the buy-out fee of $363 to Ladco to release me from my contract). Before cancelling my services with Elavon, I worked desperately with their customer service department and management to assist in adjusting fees and/or releasing me from the contract, a contract that was completely inappropriate for a small business owner. They did not budge. Ladco was worse, they were entirely indifferent. My advice is to do your homework before chosing your merchant service provider. Had I done so, I would have been alerted by reputable reviewers to the same grievances I was unfortunate enough to experience. read more

All the bad things written here about Elavon are true based on my experience. If you are a small business in Canada just like ours, don't even consider trying them out. All banking information were filled out correctly in my application form but it was set up in there system incorrectly. Now i have to go through the process of changing my bank account. After a follow up, they said my bank rejected their transfer of money saying I gave them wrong banking information. I phoned my bank and confirmed to my nothing was even credited to my bank account. The worst merchant company I dealt with. Canadian companies should never use their services. We are fully Licensed company and was using Elavon for more than a year. Everything was ok but after getting IATA, our volume increased and we applied for increase in monthly volume. They not only held aroung CAD 175K amount but tried to steal CAD 75k from our Trust account. I approached my bank and they reversed the transaction. Later they will tell you that they were not aware about trust account guidelines. In more than a year of volume we only got 4 charge backs and they are holding CAD 120K amount. We are so frustrated by their logic of holding more than $100,000 dollars based on less than $4000 chargebacks in more than a year transactions. I recommend all to stay away from them as they will take money from your account and will later apologize that they did not know about Trust A/c guidelines. read more

I am shocked that they can get away with all the shady things this company does. you pay for a statement fee, but get no statement. you have to go online to their portal, that never works by the way, to get it. no emails or letters of extra charges, changes on your account, they just charge or change it without you knowing. it's on the statement in tiny font... stay far away from this company if you care about your business. You cannot reach them by phone in less than 45 minutes wait time on hold. It doesn't matter the time of day or night that you call you are on hold forever. If you forget your password to sign on to your account you have to wait 2 hours to get a password reset. Any other company in America can send a password reset almost instantaeously. If it takes them this long to provide a simple request imagine how their processing works. I think they only have one person answering the phone for the whole country. The worst service we ever had! We decided to sign up with Elavon thinking that Costco always provide good value at a good cost. Well, not with the merchant services. We cancelled our services with Elavon after one week. You are virtually left to figure out everything on your own, the moment you sign your contract. Our account manager never contacted us, despite our numerous attempts to get a hold of him. It has been over two weeks that we can not receive our money. They can not figure out how to transfer $7,000 to our account. Seriously? Every time I call, it's a different story from a different representative. They do not know what other person is doing. NEVER!!! STAY AWAY!!! I have never in 55 years written a review until today, and after an hour on the phone getting no where, the arrogance of Elavon and their staff is making my blood boil. Like other reviewers, I have had this account closed for over a year and still have my monthly charge of $124.99 automatically withdrawn from my bank account, and every month I call to have this account closed and the money refunded. Want to guess? Every month, I speak to a rep who PROMISES that they "see my request" "not sure why I still have the charge" "I will have this closed and refunded." Today, I spoke to Supervisor Christine who said the account is closed and I can credit you for January. When I asked about all the previous months requests, she said kept repeating i can credit you for January. I am SOOOO angry!!! I deal with a large number of vendors, and I will tell everyone that I know to move away as fast possible. I own a retail shop, and live by the mantra that "the customer is always right" and I will bend over backwards to make a disgruntled client satisfied. This company REFUSED to listen to my complaint(s). NEVER, NEVER, NEVER-- If they are the LAST company to offer Merchant Services, I will revert to a cash business only. Elavon and its partner NLS (Northern leasing company) and Elavon rep Pierre Stehlik are not recommended to do business.Elavon rep Pierre Stehlik came to me thrice a week for more than a month or so to switch my account showing he will save me on my processing Fee but let me trapped into higher Terminals Fee ranging to $134 per month for next 5 years.The machine which cost $500 I have to pay $6000 for them thanks to Pierre Stehlik. Read the fine print and be skeptical about anything they tell you over the phone! They're all friendly and helpful on the phone, but beware that they're not necessarily honest with you. I asked the sales rep a straight up question, "This set of fees that you've discussed with me, is this the complete list, or are there other fees not mentioned here?" She assured me it was a complete list. She was lying. She didn't tell me about the $199 non refundable setup fee. It was mentioned in the application, but set well apart from the other fees so you don't necessarily notice it before signing and returning. It's not just one sales rep, it's the whole company. You just can't tell when they're withholding information from you or otherwise misleading you on the phone. About 3 weeks later, when I noticed the $199 extra charge, I spoke with a customer rep. He told me I could cancel the service, but whether I get any part of the surprise $199 refunded would depend on whether the original sales rep wanted to split her commission with me. (She didn't, so no refund, not even a partial refund). In other words, the company stands behind the sales reps and gives them financial incentive to mislead their prospective customers. Even if I'd cancelled the service, the sly sales rep would still keep her full commission, so what incentive does she or any of them have to honestly represent the terms? read more

i do not recommend this organization at all! iwhere else can i complain about them then yelp because people need to be able to warn others not to use this company elsewhere besides only yelp! their merchant service provider rma canada are total crooks too! they work together in tandem. rma contacts you tells you to rent their pos machine and will charge only $20/mth plus 0.03% processing fee then you get this charge taken out of your bank account for $76 from elavon plus $22 from rma even if i didn't use their machine. then you call elevon and they tell you to contact merchant and you do and rma gives you total run around, will not do anything about it and then you go back to elevon and they won't do anything about it. took me 2 mths of run around from both companies and meanwhile 3 mths of these charges coming out. won't cancel even if i say cancel then after 2 mths of run around rma tells me they will charge me $1000 to cancel!! report them to everywhere. bbb everywhere you can. rip off agents and fraudersters! don't get sucked in like i did! read more

for the mediocre quality of service such company would be bankrupt if it want for them rubbing themselves against Costco making people imagine they're affiliated with them. the key to judge a good company is whn things goes wrong. in regular circumstances all they do is collected high fees and selling you overpriced equipment . we were victims of fraud and we lost over 10K is merchandise and Elavon instead of assisting us and helping us while we were trying to understand what happened; and after they back charged which i didn't mind as the transactions weren't legit , theu slapped us with over $600 in fees and closed our account and flagged my company ! which added insult to injury the lady handling my case was very very rude and belligerent and she was the judge and the jury, no recourse, no way to talk to her supervisor, no was to get removed from that flagged list. they dont deserve to be in business as they behave like a dictatorship. let them go under . Stay away from this company. They are the absolute worst in customer service. They also charge more than anyone else for credit card processing. I have been using them for more than 20 years, and due to my ignorance, I did not realize how much money I was handing them. If you are thinking about using them (us bank's processor) DON'T DO IT. If you are already using them, CHANGE IMMEDIATELY. I just switched to Chase Paymentech and they are 10000x better. read more
