3 stars for the overall experience, but there's separate aspects one could rate individually (brand booth amount and types, food truck variety, event location, the way they ran things, etc.).
This review is specifically for the Electrify Expo at the Long Beach, California location. Generally, they hold this event for two or three days in various cities across the US. June 2024 was my very first time attending and usually an event is fun and interesting to see when you're going for the first time and don't know what to expect. It's about all things electric: E-bikes, e-cars, and some motorcycles.
Regarding Long Beach specifically, it's a 3-day event in which media people attend on Friday and the rest of the public attends on Saturday or Sunday. It seems to be a mostly outdoor event, but I don't know for sure if they have anything inside the convention center with vendors. I'm thinking no since the only restrooms were porta-potties outside and when I asked an event employee, they didn't say the restroom was indoors at all for this event. There were food trucks too, but I didn't try to find those.
Now regarding the location where they held this event, I'll give it a 2.5. I wish this event could be held in a more spacious location because they offer test rides/drives and it seems cramped for all that. I think holding it at the Pomona Fairgrounds would be better. Also, they need to do something different for the line that forms at opening time. They have the line of attendees going up these stairs in which as the event opens, they have to of course come back down the stairs. I don't know why they don't have the line stay on ground level. That's another reason why they need to to hold this at a more spacious location.
Also, the expo's website said the parking is $10-15, but when you get there, you find out it's $20.
Then, they make you sign a waiver when you enter the event, yet, at each e-bike brand's booth and I'm sure for the e-cars too, you have to sign another tedious waiver. I thought that's why we filled out the form at the entrance.
Unless you really love e-bikes & e-cars and want to know about the latest things out there OR wanting to purchase these types of items in the future, then you'll want to go to this event, but ordinarily, I don't have to go to annually. read more
