I asked Electrika to isolate my apartment's power, upgrade my breaker box, and rewire my 5 1/2 with copper wiring. What I got instead was a jaw-dropping estimate that looked more like a luxury renovation for a mansion than a basic electrical rewire. They quoted me $55,184.55 just to rewire the apartment - here's a sample of their pricing: * $5,306 for 14 light fixtures with no access (that's $379 each!) * $7,406 for 15A circuits (14 of them!) * $8,554 for 26 regular power outlets (that's $329 each!) * $1,974 for 6 switches (!) * $4,068 just to run thermostat wires * And another $5,172 on overpriced baseboard heater replacements Then they added another $13,469.32 just to upgrade the service and breaker box: * $4,719 for a 200A panel and breakers * $2,940 for 60ft of PVC pipe (seriously?) * $909 just to ground to the water pipe That's over $68,000 before a single wire is touched. For reference, that's more than my car and nearly half what I paid for the building. To make matters worse, they charged me $500 just for the visit - and then refused to proceed without full basement access, even though I clearly asked for isolation of the upstairs unit. Bottom line: I felt like I was dealing with a company that either didn't understand my request or saw a golden goose. If you value your money, get a second (or third) opinion. We had a tree branch fall on the power lines going into our house last night. We didn't realize the extent of the damage, and our power went out, so when Hydro showed up, they told us we needed an electrician in to repair the connectors before hydro could reattach the wires. We called one place before Electrika, and they had no one available to come today, but recommended Electrika. I called them and they gave me a window of 5pm-7pm. Then we got a call saying they would be early. They arrived around 3pm. They were on the pricier side, which was expected because it was an emergency, but they were incredibly helpful, gave us a break where they could and did a great job. They called Hydro for us when they were done, and the power was back on shortly after. Expensive accident, but very happy with the service we received on such short notice. read more

Way too expensive, they didn't complete the job, didn't fill the holes they did on my roof. They put an interruptor that is broken, they showed me how much it will cost and at the end and then I ask to change only one light and it cost me the double price than what was supposed to. I ask politely to send many payments and didn't mind about the job that was undone but the lady on the phone was rude and refused so i said they didn't complete the job well and she laughed and said: yeah thats what people say when they dont have money! This company is TERRIBLE at communication and response. I chose this company to install a heat pump because they had a good reputation for electrical work in general. There were problems, and it took three return visits to sort them out because they kept sending a guy who knows nothing about heat pumps (and the problem arose in the first place because they made an installation decision without consulting me). They give you a run-around on the phone; they do not return calls; you have to hound them repeatedly to get any service (I made at least a dozen calls after the installation). DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY: THEY CHARGE TOP DOLLAR AND PROVIDE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Spent a ridiculous amount of time speaking to an electrician from here only to be told he couldn't do the job. He had alternatives which were ridiculous and unnecessary work. Called 2 other electricians and they laughed when I explained my situation with these guys. Apparently it's a known thing. Wish I knew this before because I wasted almost 90 bucks for someone to come and give a quote.. a ridiculous quote. (Yup, 2018.. companies still charging for quotes..) Also, I felt disrespected and the technician didn't really take my wishes to consideration. Kept telling me what he thought would look nicer... sure.. 10 years ago.. They charge $100 for a charger installation quote, while all other companies do that for free. What a joke.

I wanted to add a couple of electrical outlets to my house but wanted to speak with an electrician before committing to an appointment. The woman who answered the phone said she'd get their manager to call me back to answer my questions but he never called me! This was a small job but small jobs lead to bigger ones. I am entertaining the idea of purchasing a 25000BTU Air Con that requires 230V outlet. Now I have what everyone has a 110V outlet, in order to run this beast of an A/C I really need to have one 230V Parked on my street I see a Electrika Pickup truck, which is how I came to know of this company. He lives on my street. I thought how convenient - and I know he will just tell me to give the office a call and go thru the proper chain of command for insurance reasons I suppose. So I will not even bother asking him. I called the office and spoke to a very charming woman which spoke with a tone of experience and knew her stuff. Told her I have seen a company pickup truck which is always parked on my street after-hours and seen the employee enter his house, just a few doors away from mine. Is how I came to know Electrika's phone number. I asked how much would it cost to have a 230V outlet installed at my place? This charming woman replied: To have an employee come to my house will cost 69.00$ JUST to have a look at the work to be done. I told her the guy lives just a few house down the street from me. Ahhh... He is a manager and doesn't do service calls. 69.00$ just to have a guy come in my place for like 3 mins, where is he coming from? OTTAWA...no from Lachine....Naw there must be a better way I said... well.....here at Electrika this is how we do things......and...... I stopped here there, Awesome company and I have had spoken to this neighbor / Manager a few times, Super nice guy too... A real gentleman and family man too. He also clearly indicated what actions had to be taken immediately as compared to what could wait until later. During his time in our home, he was respectful of everyone and while he worked calmly. we called for a quote for some loose wires connected to our Hydro meter, after spending 112.00 just to get their quote which entailed us to redo all of our wiring and the price they gave was between 2,500 to $5,000 dollars, and on top of it he added that he would be bringing his apprentice to help- to pay this much money and get a student to do the work, what a joke. unless you are a millionaire , do not call this company! read more

The customer service and work done is exceptional. I had an issue with my inital installation and got a personal call from the owner of the company. This is unheard of in customer service today. Generally competent and friendly. However, two or three things I'd need to criticize. First, there was equipment creep -- they began selling add-ons or various other replacements that were either optional or questionable. So that was just padding the bill. Secondly, they made a mistake by recommending the wrong size for a wall heater (which I had the option to search for myself, thereby saving money). It was a bad recommendation made by a journeyman replacing the main electrician. Thirdly, they responded to a request to check out a guaranteed piece of equipment; the visit was prompt-- and a 5-min. checkup proved to us that there was no equipment failure. HOWEVER, the bill for the 5-min. check was close to $100 -- totally unacceptable. In other words, it cost me $100 to enforce the guarantee with a quickie visit. read more
