I try to go in every Historic Carnegie Library. Some are still library's but this one was restored for the community for art. This is one of 1,689 he had built in the US. What a great man to build something for the good of society. Was a wonderful way to make books available to everyone. The building inside and out is beautiful.

This corner storefront gallery showcases Redwood Art Association members' works in a variety of…read moremedia, though represented mostly by painters and photographers there is the occasional sculptor, milliner or three dimensional artist showing. Members are from all over the area inside the Redwood Curtain. Monthly exhibitions are open to paying dues members, and the first submission is free with additional pieces costing $20 each. The venue is staffed by volunteer members, and the gallery is open normal retail business hours. With artists receptions aligning with the Eureka Arts Alive monthly program. There are as well a few small separate open "Studio" spaces within the building for artist members to rent at a minimal fee as well for those artisans wanting a retail exhibition space to display their art works. This RAA gallery is a very nice space to show and view art works from all over the area under one roof. Better than some and probably not as good as it could be. As a patron and supporter of the arts in our community this venue has the potential, but needs to work to encourage artists in other media styles to show and be represented. 3.5 Stars - rounded up for the always changing monthly exhibitions. 00552

Sconces, vases, bowls, orbs, spheres and many other one of a kind works in glass. The shop is run by a husband and wife team, Willo and Ember who are both working glass blowers. Live demonstrations and works being created are always going on during their normal business day. A great shop with great people running it and definitely worth a visit and stop by to say hello and add a new piece of glass art to your collection. There are a nice assortment of other local artisan glass pieces as well. I acquired a new one of a kind glass piece from Willo and he signed it for me on the spot. However, the end product looked nothing like the ref. pic provided. When I contacted them to notify them I was dissatisfied with the the final result and requested a refund I was charged a 25% restocking fee for something that was never in stock to begin...how does that make sense? I have been coming to Eureka/Humboldt County for about 35 years, and I finally saw a sign for this…read morespace. So glad we came! It was moist day when we visited, and the mosquitoes were annoying, but that's part of the territory. It was a beautiful space to explore, and the walking pathways were also some good exercise for us old folks (around 50, ahem). But the beauty was nice, with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the views when needed. We even bought some merch at the small little gateway "store" to support the cause. Will always come back here now, every visit to the area. Thank you!

Went out to Samoa to check out the street drags. The strip is on the Samoa peninsula, you have the…read moreocean on one side and Humboldt Bay on the other side. The temp was 55 deg and light fog. The facility it's self is tired. The wooden stands showed signs of rotting. The aluminum stands are nice and right on the starting line. Everyone here was friendly and welcoming. You can walk into the pits and check out the cars, we brought our 11 year grandson and he loved it. Not much in the way of food for sale , hot dogs and soda. There are porta potties that were clean, we enjoyed our time here, recommended
