The service was incredibly friendly and the shop very clean and bright but I think Mind's Eye Manufactory down the way or the Blacksmith Shop are much more Ferndale in the items they sell. I'm not sure this space may be the best home for Red Eye's style of work long term, but it's definitely worth a peek if you're in the area and love his type of work.

To my surprise part of it had been renovated into an art studio and a lovely one at that. The new owner wonderfully showed me the studio, which was filled with a plethora of locally made items such as scarves, teddy bears, doll houses and Christmas ornaments. I ended up purchasing a gorgeous ornament for under ten dollars made from the type of the original Ferndale newspaper and marveling at the change that had been made to my old home. In fact all of their merchandise is hand crafted by a variety of local artisans. It's a great place to find that special gift for yourself or for someone you love. You should stop by and talk with Francine who is very engaging and knows a lot about each of the artisans. While there take a minute to rest on the Redwood seats outside then go in and pet a great little dog for a while!

I try to go in every Historic Carnegie Library. Some are still library's but this one was restored for the community for art. This is one of 1,689 he had built in the US.
