But he did not just recommend rather prescribed acupuncture. I'm a Western Medicine girl. Have a headache? Take advil. Break a leg? Set it in a cast. It all seems to work just fine. So for me to have to have acupuncture was a lot to bite off. But there are studies which suggest that acupuncture does in fact work in some cases. So off I went. The first session included an introduction to acupuncture. Just to get me accusomed to the idea of having needles poked in to all sorts of places, Carol started with my ear. There was a cracking sound as the needle went through the cartilege, akin to having my ears piereced. Did it feel good? No. Did I like it? Let's just say I will not be going out for acupuncture for my next birthday. Then it was on the the real deal. I laid on my stomach on a massage table with wind-chime music in the background- and was falsely lulled in to Zen-dom until the pricking started. But there's more! I got hooked up to this crazy machine that pulses an electrical current through different regions of my body, in this case, my lower back and legs. It was a twtichy crampy sort of sensation and not particularly comfortable. They have lots of product here. Bottles of supplements, skin care products, stuff you might be in to, if you're less of a Western medicine sort. They also have People and Us magazines, which is always a plus. In an old Victorian-era building with large bright rooms of acutorture. Actually it wasn't that bad, if you have to go. Just kind of strange.

I saw her when I was 19 and had barely been in Colorado a year. Originally for acne (which I had already tried all types of creams treatments prescriptions , acutane , almost 12 dermatologists.. even 2 other naturopath / doctors.. and still had acne .. not only did she fix that- and it is amazing skin still / ever since - what is even more impressive is she was able to do naturally and at the source of the problem and taught and demonstrated to me that the skin is largest organ and it acts up if there is something major wrong so it fixed problems I did not know I have when I adjusted diet and other simple things she figured out after looking at everything in my life from the first appointment.. to many to list but one that stood out was overall energy.. I had also been having a cup of coffee in my hand all day I was drinking so much but I quit that cold turkey and actually had more energy and mental clarity... If I have issues with my body not performing then I will actually wait until I come back to CO to see her because I trust her that much. A while back I had an issue with my chest that was incredibly painful when I inhaled deeply. I ignored it for a long time hoping it would go away. It felt like there was something in my lungs. I actually got worried and when I finally went in to see her she could see or feel that I had a rib that got out of alignment. She was able to adjust it back into place. I was blown away that such a simple technique could heal my debilitating pain. That day I was Androcles Lion and she removed the thorn from my paw. She did the same thing with my spine as well during a different time. When I leaned back against a hard surface I got shooting pain in my back. She found a vertebrae that was misaligned. She fixed it again with her healing skills. I was and still am so thankful for her. She fixed my body, gave me some stretches to do and told me I didn't need to keep coming in. Wow.
