Feels weird rating a church, but here goes... Like most, ones introduced to Elevation Church by word of mouth and social media. I loved the snippets that I heard/saw and began streaming online. Again, loved it. When I moved to Charlotte, I was excited to worship in person so I visited the Ballantyne location. I was told Ballantyne was the main campus and that it's usually a great experience for new members and first time visitors. As soon as I parked, I was immediately greeted. Typically, the greeters will just "hey, good morning" you, but this man walked and talked with me from my car to the door. He was extremely pleasant and it was a warm welcome that I truly appreciated. I entered the church and got seated. The choir sang and there were some announcements. Typical church stuff. Where my 5 stars went to 3 stars is when the service began. It was announced that the sermon was prerecorded a few days prior (not even live). While there are multiple screens, it was sometimes hard to see based on where I was sitting and the height of the people in front of me. When I come to church in person, I expect a physical person in the pulpit, so for me, that was disappointing and a turn off. I'll keep enjoying the Instagram reels while attending a church that better fits my needs. read more

However, if you have to sit in the overflow of the lobby during worship it is so loud you cannot hear the person speaking next to you. This team has an amazing in reach and outreach network. Thier hearts are inline with God's word in the way they approach ministry both locally and globally. If you miss the live service or online live they air the services again online in several social media platforms. This is a creative, innovated, and loving ministry. Show up and God shows out. My family have been going to the satellite church here in Rock Hill, SC for a couple years. After over 40 years of attending various church's, I've never seen a church that does so much for the community and families that attend services. This was a bucket list to do! We arrived 30 mins prior to service starting (perfect amount of time). First timers get special parking and a gift after service at the welcome center (Black tent). So many greeters welcomed us as we walked inside and I truly felt welcome. We waited a few minutes in line before entering. The worship experience was like a Fishfest concert- AMAZING! Filled with the Holy Spirit. There restrooms are clean and even stocked with mints and lotion, the whole nine. The heart breaking disappointment was Pastor Steven Furtick wasn't preaching today (we were really hoping to meet him and Holly). But, his guest Pastor pierced my heart with his message on consistency and stacking strength. I'm honored to be able to attend Elevation church today! What a treat! read more

Worship was great! I'm so glad they had a fog machine and 5 cameramen to really amp up the "worship experience." Everyone was super hip - especially the pastor. He made more jokes than he referenced the Bible, which is how it should be. I feel like we are best buds now that I know how much he can curl and which of his kids is his favorite. Overall, it was a wonderfully fluffy sermon. Look elsewhere if you a looking for a Bible-centric and theologically sound church. read more

This is my church! I've been watching online for 2 years & finally got in my car and drove from Florida to NC to attend in person. What a wonderful experience that I would not trade for silver or gold!! It was pouring rain but a volunteer still met me as a first time guest in the parking lot & helped me To the front door. The worship was angelic & the message that Pastor Steven's wife Holly delivered was just amazing. Of course traveling that far I was a little disappointed that Pastor Furtick didn't preach but at least he was in the building. Maybe next time. As I was leaving I stopped by the first time visitor location & Andrew & Janice Armstrong greeted me with warmth & a VERY powerful prayer over my life I'll never forget! My husband and I visited on a Saturday night. We were immediately greeted and a few church-goers spoke to us inquiring how we were and thrilled that we were there. Then we were told to wait in line "to get good seats". We proceeded to wait in line for over an hour-- we were early, but they don't open the church "arena" (for lack of a better term) until 8-10 minutes before Service started. We were told "you may not take in water so you need to throw that out" before getting inside. Not all people can be without water for 1.5 hours. At this point I was frustrated. Who is this all about!? There is no coffee bar or place to sit where you have to wait. So despite me not being physically able to stand that long, I had to wait. I sat on the ground at one point to get off my feet. It seemed so weird forms church to have no meeting places, comfort or seating, or just places to hang with friends. When we got inside the sanctuary, there are signs saying if you leave at anytime throughout the service they will make you stay in the overfill room. Hope you don't have to go to the bathroom. Your whole family will get to enjoy church without you since you can't go back in. Also not welcoming or warm. There was a ton of fog, lights, and drama. To me, as a church goer back home in Phoenix, it seemed more about the recording and the pastor than about Jesus. I was so disappointed. I had really been excited to go to this church. I constantly had over 10 huge lights in my face during "worship"-- and they weren't the songs on the radio. I found it hard to worship and connect there with God. Then the pastor came out. Once again it felt more about him at times than the sermon or the church. The pastor does, however, mostly speak biblical principles. Occasionally I hear something from him that is questionable and needs expanding on or research. There was also constantly a huge camera going everywhere to capture the stage and the people in the audience. (So distracting) There was no communion or mention of church events or prayer people or any regular churchy things. After church I wanted to check out the "swag". Church shirts and sweaters, stickers, etc. There was no where to shop- there was a concert like table where you can ask to see things but not touch. And I was run into several times by the huge crowd clamoring for items. That also wasn't warm or churchy feeling. Overall I was appreciative of the volunteers and church members. They seemed genuine and helpful and caring. But overall I left with a yucky feeling- not a feeling of being filled by Him in that place or filled up by the sermon. I would attend one more time to see if it was a fluke- but I really doubt those things I found unwelcome or cold will be changed. read more

My wife and daughter were kicked out of the service and shunned to some side room at the Matthews campus. KICKED OUT OF CHURCH?!?!?! What could they have done so bad to get kicked out of church? Our nearly 3 year old stays with us during services and has learned to do very well with it (complimented at many other churches we've visited). Upon entering the service, they were met with an attitude about bringing a child in and then were put in the far corner. Then they hovered close by. After not making a peep, during one of the few quieter points my daughter quietly said 3 words to my wife. Instantly, someone was there with a flashlight gathering my wife and daughters' things and told them they needed to leave the service. Not crying, not a tantrum, not being disruptive, just three quiet words. I know this church has reached a lot of people, but I cannot believe they sent my wife home crying. I am thankful this hasn't hurt her faith but I could certainly see it hurting someone else who is in the early seeking stage of Christianity. They should be ashamed of their actions. People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. -- Mark 10:13-16 read more

I was so excited to visit Elevation Church from NY. I arrived early because I was expecting it to be very crowded but I was able to get in pretty quickly. I also had good seats. Which I didn't expect. The worship was amazing. But when it came time for the pastor to speak the screens were turned on. The pastor wasn't there. I was a bit confused by this. I'm not sure if he was preaching from another location or if we were just watching the earlier service. I'm not sure how I feel about going to a church to watch a screen. However the word preached by the pastor was good. If you are traveling to visit the church I would say to try calling the church beforehand to find out what time the pastor will be preaching and what location. I tried calling the church the day before to confirm his location but there wasn't any answer. read more

Took baby to ekidz for the first time today I was nervous but he enjoyed himself and I'm excited to make a habit out of taking him every Sunday. The word is always good. I pray for pastor and his family for continued strength that he's able to keep producing for the people of this city and all over the world!
