THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT THE USHERS, NOT THE MINISTER WHO I THINK IS AN AMAZING CONDUIT FOR GOD'S WORD: I enjoyed the church the few times I went. However, the USHERS/VOLUNTEERS give you an entirely different experience than what is being preached about. They will speak loudly during the sermon, try to carry on a conversation with you during the sermon, compare what the minister did/said during his 8:00 versus his 11:15 sermons, distract you, make you give up your chair for people who arrive more than an hour late for service (when you are deep into the message and are in need of it) then make you seem like you are the problem, etc. There is a disconnect. I've noticed this problem when there is a Black manager in charge of people who don't take him or their jobs seriously. They sabotage him. read more

Charlotte has many churches. They are either extremely progressive & almost too casual. I really don't want to go to a pop/rock concert on Sunday morning. Or you walk into what feels like an Amish funeral. Rarely do you find a happy medium where you can praise God in a comfortable setting. This church is my happy place. I went in very cautiously, as I was afraid of the "Cult of Elevation" vibe. I have found this place extremely warm, inviting & filled with people from all backgrounds, races, cultures, incomes, & even religions. I love this! Pastor Derwin Gray is very relatable & takes scripture & applies them to the everyday struggles of modern day life. Oh, & he's hilarious! He has me rolling all the time. They offer 4 different times of worship on Sunday: 521 Location (Not far from Ballantyne. We have visited Transformation Church four times now. This multi-ethnic, multi-generational church truly is just that! It is a wonderful church service. Each time I have gone there, I have been encouraged and spurred on in my walk with Jesus. Although the parking team does a PHENOMENAL job of parking cars. Go early, because it is a challenge to park and then find a seat. They are rectifying this by building a new church building that will seat 1000+ - but it does not open til December. read more

I love this congregation of God. I love everything about it. I love its mission. I love its team leaders. I love the musicians who devote so much of their time to uplift their audience. I love the so many members who give their all to make people like me feel welcome. I love the smile on every face I see. I love the fact that I am able to attend and listen to Pastor Derwin and the many other preachers he gives a voice to. Transformation Church is a non-denominational Protestant church fellowship. They have modern worship music across 5 services - Saturday 4:00 and 5:30 and Sunday 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30. During the Fall and Winter until May they also have a Sunday 1:00 service. Their vision is to be a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, mission shaped church that focuses to love God Completely (upward), Love ourselves correctly (inward), and love others compassionately (outward). This is bound by the 5 values of TC Worship, Connect, Serve, Give, Invite. There are three campuses: 521 Indian Land, Cherry Street in Rock Hill, and Kershaw Medium Security Prison. TC Teens is Wednesday night at 6:30 and there are a large number of Small Groups (TC Groups) to participate in. There are two Pastors at TC. Pastor Derwin Gray is the author of two books (Hero, Limitless Life) and is a former safety / special teams NFL player for the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers. You can catch some very funny and thought provoking videos on YouTube as the Evangelism Linebacker. Some would say he preaches like he played football, with passion and with depth. Pastor Paul Allen has been a Pastor in the smallest of churches and at the largest of churches and preaches an average of once a month or so as Pastor Derwin takes on the majority of the preaching. The music ministry is top notch while not being over loud like some other large churches. The Hospitality Team is extremely friendly and will help you find a seat. HEADS UP - If you plan on going to the 10:00 or 11:30 Sunday services, get there about 20 minutes early as these services pack out quickly! Love this church. They always have guest speakers so be prepared but the guest speakers are always interesting. But it may be a turn off for people that get attached to one speaker. Great music too read more
