Looking for a fun brew pub with a cool outside area? Add this place to your list…read more The area around Lafayette has several cool brew pub options. Mandeville needs to step up its game. Adopted Dog is dog focused and makes solid beer with good food. If you don't like beer, you can still eat good food in a good atmosphere. If you don't like beer and don't like dogs, you may be out of luck. The beer. I have only been here a couple of times so I have not ventured too far into their beer offerings. I have had three different styles and all ranged from good to very good. The food. Cheese curds - get the sampler platter. Three different types of cheese curds that are lightly fried and totally good. Who knew fried cheese curds could be delicious? I guess the Wisconsin people and Canadians but now you know too. Brussel sprouts - Just get them. Crispy and tasty is all you need to know. Smash burger - If you like smash burgers, you will like this one. I don't (i prefer a thick patty), so it was fine, but again, not my preference. The outside area is very cool. While there are long tables, games, and TVs, there are also Adirondack chairs. Sitting in those, drinking a beer, and feeling the breeze transports you elsewhere. It is the spot to be. Check out Adopted Dog. You will bee glad you did.

Great music, good greasy food and a fun atmosphere. 30 years later, I felt like I had entered a nightmare...minus my teeth falling out. First of all, there was a line to get in. It WAS Mardi-Gras, after all. But, there were only 6 or 7 people ahead of me. They were only letting people in as people were leaving and from what I could hear of the door man's conversation, the rest room was to the right. Literally everyone in front of me lined up only to use the bathroom. It's true! I saw the same people coming back out that had already been let in. Holy crap, Batman! I might be in the wrong line! So I finally asked the doorman if I was in the correct line but he was so robotic and only asked me for my id then there was a girl who unhooked a rope at the door opening. I went inside. I was so shocked to find virtually no one in the place. Okay...there were maybe 10 people sitting at the bar and dining tables COMBINED. in addition. I could only see two people behind the bar and I had previously noticed the outside walk up window had been painted shut years before. I got the courage to ask one of the patrons drinking a daiquiri(?) from a pitcher sized pail. He looked back at me and said they had had a visit from the fire department and were told the had to curb their customers from going inside because of the lack of bar tenders and waitstaff. So they stopped cooking food and were only serving mostly melted drinks because of the lack of help. Oh. I completely forgot the lack of AC that night!
