Of all the places to come to for Mardi Gras, I picked this place. When I was in college, this was THE place to be. Great music, good greasy food and a fun atmosphere. 30 years later, I felt like I had entered a nightmare...minus my teeth falling out. First of all, there was a line to get in. It WAS Mardi-Gras, after all. But, there were only 6 or 7 people ahead of me. They were only letting people in as people were leaving and from what I could hear of the door man's conversation, the rest room was to the right. Literally everyone in front of me lined up only to use the bathroom. It's true! I saw the same people coming back out that had already been let in. Holy crap, Batman! I might be in the wrong line! So I finally asked the doorman if I was in the correct line but he was so robotic and only asked me for my id then there was a girl who unhooked a rope at the door opening. I went inside. I was so shocked to find virtually no one in the place. Okay...there were maybe 10 people sitting at the bar and dining tables COMBINED. in addition. I could only see two people behind the bar and I had previously noticed the outside walk up window had been painted shut years before. I got the courage to ask one of the patrons drinking a daiquiri(?) from a pitcher sized pail. He looked back at me and said they had had a visit from the fire department and were told the had to curb their customers from going inside because of the lack of bar tenders and waitstaff. Ordered 3 lbs mild select crawfish and the special 6 shrimp for $1. The crawfish were large, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The shrimp were tasty as well. My friend and I had a wonderful dinner and a nice visit. The service was excellent. The overhang could be larger, it was raining really hard and a lot that night. A little more coverage would have been nice. I will definitely return. read more

First mistake was going to a place called The Bulldog for crawfish. Hey, I gave it a go. If you like sprinkled seasoning on top of your mudbugs (they were of mixed sizes)...this might be a spot for you. Very salty. They mixed in all the sides so everything will be VERY salty. I went to The Bulldog tonight with friends and received horrible treatment from the staff. They only waited on white customers immediately while the people of color waited at least an hour before being served. My friend approached a man wearing a red shirt with the bars logo asking to speak with a manager and was told that he didn't have one (implying that he was the manager). Instead of him trying to help her, he shrugged her off and didn't try to serve her. She was constantly trying to get help from Kyle (pictured) who kept saying to "wait a minute" but would turn around to drink shots with UNDERAGED white teenagers. Any minority that tried to get his attention was ignored. I was fed up when he helped an underaged white girl immediately and asked him why he was so eager to help her and not my friend. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, he begins to question me and called security. Thankfully, the security wasn't a racist jerk but Kyle continued to shout as me as I was leaving. Highly unprofessional. Do not waste your time nor money here. The drinks were watered down and the same 3 songs were played on repeat. read more

Ah the bulldog...I'll start by saying that they have a very wide beer selection and if you drink one of each you win a prize. I've heard that it's free beer during happy hour on sunday but I havent finished my big dog card yet so I can't confirm this. Me, my brother, and some mutual friends go here from time to time in the early to late afternoon for beer and buzztime trivia. But if you're over 21 like we are you want to get out before it gets too late because at that point you're the old people in the bar and surrounded by spikey haired, too tight shirt wearing man-child-duches. read more

Ultimate locals' dive bar, but with some decent food. They were out of the local beers they featured on tap despite a pretty low key Friday night, so I ended up with Miller or some other mega brand beer which was all that was left. I asked for red beans and rice for dinner and I enjoyed it - but it did take a long time to come out and wasn't served with the rest of or group's food. read more

Just thinking of this place makes me laugh and maybe even throw up a little. While The Bulldog (not sure what this Poolhall thing is all about, they have pool balls and some green felt but hardly a poolHALL) is a bar, surely you won't find anyone over the age of 21 in the joint. To put it this way, I started drinking at this bar when I was 14. To much surprise though, they actually have a good selection of beers. While the majority of the clientele order rail whiskey and long island iced tea (a sure indicator to an underaged drinker) at least you don't have to worry about them running out of Stella Artois. They have one of those fun bar games where you get the porno pictures and have to pick out what is different, that's fun. They used to have internet trivia, likely still do. The bathroom is useless for anything other than vomiting in since the doors close so close to your knees there isn't enough room for you wiggle your pants around them. If you are lucky enough to score the handicapped stall just make sure you have someone to hold it so some drunk undergrad doesn't come rushing in and puke on your innocent crotch. With all these terrible things, it can be fun...I suppose. read more

After waiting over thirty minutes for my crawfish, i watched the server give my crawfish to someone else and then come to my table and say that they were out. It's one of those love it or hate it places. It's most known as a young persons bar like 18 year olds, but it's a great place to go alone during the day. They have a wide beer selection which is nice. A lot of TVs too. read more
