Wonder inspiring historic building that has been transformed into a uniquely intimate theater…read more I have watched a rock production two years in a row, and have LOVED our balcony seats. Every seat in the house looks to be great, next time I will buy floor seats to confirm. Check out all floors, and every little book and cranny you can, there are so many little surprised, especially for the architecture buff.

(well technically, it was a gas plant first, but then began to sing the body electric in 1905). :::: Fast-forward: 2011 :::: This is when this art decco powerhouse transformed to a stylish playhouse in the style of Shakespeare. This theater had been on my radar for the last couple of years, and my timing just never worked out for venturing down to the hills of wine and to make a visit to the theater....until Winter 2012. On a blustery cold evening, I needed to make a trip down to Walla Walla. I made myself go. I had to. NPR advertised about the Power House's production of "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play!", for weeks, and I was intrigued and pulled Walla Walla-ward. I was interested by the production, but I was also looking for an excuse to case the joint! ;) I love old theaters (especially if they've been renovated Gangnam Style...sorry, just wanted to say that phrase...not sure who reads these reviews all the way anyway!) ;) The renovation, I believe, is still a work in progress. I heard they are still working on the roof...and the audience & actors noticed this throughout the evening as the winds howled and banged on what seemed like only a tin roof. (A member of the staff came upstairs to the balcony and offered seats downstairs to us if we were too cold. I didn't mind, but some took him up on his offer---I wanted the full environmental experience! I wanted the chance to tell stories about way back in the olden days when I went to the Powerhouse to see a play, and how the roof almost blew off!) Other than the roof, the facility is top notch. (well, I think the roof adds character along with the expose brick, too). From the lobby, stage, seating, to restrooms, the facility is updated with modernity. And that's what I like. The duality of a renovated structure is attractive. I can't wait to come back for a Shakespearean or modern play. You'll find me looking for excuses to come here again, and again---look for me in the balcony!

NOT ENOUGH HELP! FOOD AND DRINK SERVICE IS UNBELIEVABLY FRUSTRATING. One bar ran by one person for drinks. the line was consist so long it was backed up to the tables. ALL NIGHT!! FOOD: To get a hot dog or hamburger, you first stood in the " Roman" line. 1 table , 2 people, for everyone present!! My wait was 20 minutes. Then you move to yet another line to order your food. ONE COOK, ONE SERVER, ONE GRILL!! INSANE. 15 minute wait tin line to order 2 cheeseburgers, then another line for pick up. 31 minutes wait and I finally interupted the Server to ask how long before they got to us and she couldn't find out tickets so she handed me the next cheeseburger and said there ya go. I told her my daughter's order was with mine. She couldn't find the ticket and at this point the grill was bare. I'm beyond frustrated. Now it's an additional 5 minutes to get her burger. It was catered by Emerald of Siam. 2 workers for hundreds of people. Honestly it's been like this for years. Why cant you add another bar and another food spot? Look at the money you're losing and I can tell you my whole table alone all said next time they would eat dinner before going to the concert. I can think of 20 ways to improve that problem, and it is a huge problem. Please work on improving food and drink service. Yiu have plenty of room to add additional stations and help!!

Many locals probably remember it as the barn surrounded by a fence of wagon wheels, a defining characteristic that adds to its artistic charm. You can also purchase artwork from local artists at the gift shop. Dahmen Barn also offer classes and workshops for both adults and children, book readings and signings, and occasional performances by local musicians. This is such a quaint local attraction. The pretzels appetizer was a couple of med 4"-5" pretzels with a couple dipping sauces that you choose. The steak bites are breaded (wish that was in the description ahead of time) and the cook was hit miss. I ordered medium rare. Some bites were medium but still very tender and juicy. I chose the Thai peanut dipping sauce. It was very good but also had a bite so if you don't like heat you may not want this choice. The tots and leftover sauce were tasty enough that they went home with me. . Got in just before the horde. Then, they kept getting our orders incorrect. I wondered if it was because it was a loud environment and it was hard to focus on getting orders right or, it also seemed like they were understaffed for the large amount of people that was there. The food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. I had a huckleberry lemon drop which was really delicious (and surprisingly strong for a lemon drop!). Came here on a summer Saturday evening and while it was pretty crowded, there were still tables available and any wait times were very minimal. There are usually live bands playing here on Saturday evenings and it's a nice social environment, but don't expect fast service here.
