Ordered a chicken strip sandwich with no bun, but a piece of Texas toast, side of coleslaw slaw and a coke. $5.49, 2.49, and 2.49. PLUS 2.49 for the bread. Waitress explanation, bread is a side for 2.49 (bread is not free). If that's the case where was my credit for the bun? Wife ordered BLT and water. Bill=$18.70 Sorry, we'll skip it from now on. Budgets tighter for us, we try to economize, then get surprises like this? This gem nestled in the Eli part of Russell County (KY) is a diamond in the rough. We were traveling thru the area and decided to give this place a try. We started off one their house salad, which consisted of traditional lettuce, chess, tomatoes and cucumbers. I tried the boneless wings, they were ok, but did not really stand out, but keep in mind I have tried wings everywhere, these I would described as being run of the mill, not bad. I had the Double Springs Burger, with cheese and bacon in addition to the standard toppings, My wife had the Patty Melt, which included grilled onions on a butted Texas Toast. Both burgers were grilled just right, not burnt or dry. The side of a Loaded Bake potato was hot and creamy, it is served with both cheese and bacon. The pies are out of this world delicious, the peanut butter and the butterscotch are the best two. This family own place is one of the best locations in Russell Co, for food, community and conversations. Great People, Great food. They make you feel like family and all the staff are very friendly. This little family owned diner is my favorite place to eat and I've traveled the country from coast to coast! Their fresh selections include some of the best Catfish I have ever eaten a long with mouth watering pies like Butterscotch, Chocolate, and my personal favorite Peanut Butter. I can almost taste the pie right now as I write this and can not wait till they open at 11AM tomorrow. The only bad thing I can say about this place is because of not being able to find help lately they are only open four days a week right now from 11AM to 7PM. read more

1st time we have been here in a few years. The service was a bit slower than what I remember. The breakfast bar was not that good. The French Toast sticks didn't taste that good and some items were cooler than expected. The fried bologna was really good. I will order from the menu next time instead of getting the breakfast bar. read more

I gave this little cafe 5 stars for two main reasons. The first is because when your this deep in the country there's a bit of a challenge to find a place that is close to you and not a half hour drive into the closest town. It is half way between Lake Cumberland Alligator Two Marina and Russell Springs, Ky. Location location location. The second reason is simply that the food is above average and much better than the nearby marina's cafe. Honestly I have been eating here since I was a child in the 80's with my family as every weekend we vacationed at our family retreat at Lake Cumberland. I have seen this cafe named many times over the last 20 plus years but the prices remain dirt cheap and service is always provided with a smile. I've eaten every item on the menu at least once and never have a found any item I dislike. Close to the lake, great food, rock bottom prices! read more

We visited the cafe for lunch while in our door to door ministry. We are from are from Marietta, GA and were assigned to work Russell County. We selected the cafe as our spot for lunch. We ate there Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28th. The atmosphere was warm as one of family. I thoroughly enjoyed the catfish, fried shrimp and the spring burger. Our family eats here fairly often. They have good traditional country food. I have never had a meal here that was laking in quality or quantity. The service is usually prompt and courteous. Although their menu may not be as extensive, I'll take this restaurant over Cracker Barrel anytime. read more
