I am so pleased that I booked the Christmas Bauble making class with Elin for my husband and I. At £45 each for the session, it isn't cheap, but it is so much fun and great to do something a bit unusual.
The studio/workshop is in the countryside so a car is essential to get there. It is in the hills above Stirling and the view is beautiful. Elin's workshop is at the end of her garden and is delightfully rustic and agricultural.
There were 5 people in the class so a nice small group that we were all able to see up close the demonstration by Elin of how to make a glass christmas bauble before having a go ourselves.
Elin has been creating beautiful handmade glass for over 16 years and makes it look easy. Elin guides you through the process one at a time and assists where needed for you to produce your very own Bauble. You can choose what colour you want to add to the molten glass, I opted for green and blue two tone. We then rolled,, shaped and blew the glass before tapping it off the rod and adding a glass loop at the top to put a ribbon through to add it to your tree.
They then go into a cooling kiln overnight. You can collect them the following day or get them posted to you. I gave £5 to cover the postage for the two baubles.
I can't wait for them to arrive, my husband and I have been in much discussion about who's bauble is going to get the prize position on our Christmas tree.
I am certainly hooked on glass blowing and now want to do the full day course of making a drinking glass, a paperweight and a bauble. It was great fun and I would highly recommend it. read more
