What a fun night I had yesterday. Thank you Morlene & Joulie for organizing such a fun night. After checking in we get to play other games which was fun. Get to meet some new Yelpers! They were very kind & cheerful! Loved it. It was my first time kick axe & I was real scared at first but everyone was so encouraging, especially the staff so I kept trying to have some fun. And I enjoyed a lot after I got little comfortable! Even hit a bullseye lol..! The place is huge with cool decor. Loved the lighting! Liked the atmosphere a lot & didn't felt suffocating like some other places. For the game area they have multiple cages with two lanes per cage. They do instruct you well & also show you how to do it. If you need extra help they are always there to help you out, much appreciated! They had different kinds of snacks with drinks & beers. I tried the mac & cheese bites, pretzels & a soda. It was good, for me little too salty! If it wasn't for Yelp I wouldn't never get a chance to play this game. There is something oddly satisfying about throwing an axe. And there is something oddly terrifying when you discover that your long-time friend has an uncanny ability with an axe... I've been to a Yelp event at KickAxe Throwing a few years ago, and that was the first and last time I've ever thrown an axe. Not surprisingly, I was pretty rusty. However, our group had an awesome teacher in Miller, who spent time with us individually to explain the basics and correct our mistake. Pretty quickly we were all able to get the axe to stick on the target consistently, and with Miller's help we also set up a team tournament and an individual tournament. I also enjoyed the cheese & cold cuts board, and the delicious pulled pork sliders with BBQ sauce. This is one of the best Yelp events I've attended. I had never done ax throwing and never heard of it until my friend mentioned that she wanted to try it. All of a sudden, I saw a Yelp event for ax throwing. When I walked in, we signed Kick Ax's waiver in addition to Yelp's waiver. I also noticed that they have a shoe walk of shame. There are about 3 rows of crocs for those who come in with open-toe shoes. I think we all had close-toed shoes. While we were waiting to start, they had several places to sit and you can even partake in a game of UNO or JENGA. It had a rustic cabin vibe. We got to play for 75 mins--this included throwing the axe for fun and practice, then, if you wanted, you could participate in a competition. My team won!! We even did an Ax off. I didn't know what I was doing but our Axe-pert, Miller, was awesome. He gave really good tips on throwing and posture. By the end, I was definitely hitting the board. It was Miller time for sure. They had yummy appetizers for us like a charcuterie tray, macaroni and cheese balls and BBQ pork slides. I thought it would have been a little longer but as they say, "time flies when you're having fun!" I know I would like to come back. I had a great ace time here at Kick Axe! This was my second time ace throwing-- I attended an elite event here last summer. For some reason, I did not do as well as last time, but probably had more fun. We initially began with free play, but toward the end, we were set up in teams. It came down to the wire, and unfortunately, we lost by just one point! Despite that, I still had a wonderful time. The instructor we had was wonderful, she went over the rules, she assisted with strategy, and would step in and make adjustments to how to properly hit the target! This was my second time axe throwing and I still suck at it but what's didn't suck is that I had a fantastic time trying. I tried to infused the viking spirit to my inner soul and that did not work. Then I tried to picture being in a zombie apocalypse scenario (where it's life or death situation) and yet that still didn't work but at the end of the night, nothing matter because Morlene and the staff threw (no pun intended) an amazing time. Check in was simple and once everyone more or less arrived, we were led to the back for a brief rundown of how to throw an axe and all the safety calls to keep in mind. The staff were awesome and attentive. They kept it fun but also watched us throw the axe and then would advise us on our technique and how to become better. I also enjoy the yummy small bite. The pretzel was the bomb because it was pipping hot and I weak when it comes to hot bread (regardless what kind of bread it is). Overall, last night was pumping with fun and the weather couldn't be more perfect. I got to chat with other yelpers and that was certainly a treat. This was such a great experience. I was able to chat with and laugh with folks I didn't know. This place is large and great for small and large groups. They currently offer non-alcoholic bevies and beers. The instructors are so friendly and helpful. I love that they give guidance and make sure we had a good time while being safe. They have typical bar food. Warm pretzels. Macaroni bites. Bbq sliders. Charcuterie boards. It's a nice alternative to the usual things and is great for friends or even a date. I had the best time learning how to be an axe murderer...errrm I mean throw an axe at a fixed target. You play for about 75 mins. The staff was very kind and encouraging. Great personalities in the space overall. I unfortunately didn't get to try much of the light bites but they looked tasty. The tepache was yummy and had a nice variety of flavor offerings. My choice was Tamarind. I would love to come back and work on my form. As one of the instructors said, ..."For Narnia!" Oh before I forget, the space inside is luxy cabin vibes. This place was a lot of fun! The staff are very friendly and are readily available for help and to give tips. The atmosphere and venue itself is really spacious and they have a handful of other games available while you wait. You play for 75 minutes which includes about 10 minutes of safety and instruction. I had a "KickAxe" time tonight with my fellow elites. The instructors were helpful and encouraging. After following their instructions, I was close to getting bullseye several times. We were also served some delicious bites. They had charcuterie board, pigs in a blanket, pulled pork sandwiches, and mac and cheese bites. Morlene made an announcement that they were serving beer when we were getting ready to leave. If I were a drinker, I would have participated in that portion of the event. Super fun and unique Yelp Elite event! One of my favorites by far. Check in process was quick and we had to sign some waivers. Afterwards, they introduced how to throw the axe properly and things to note for safety. We split up into smaller groups with two people throwing axes at each netting area. And the teams would rotate through after a couple rounds of throwing axes. The staff were so helpful and made sure to give each person individualized tips. I loved how they tried helping everyone to score on the target! We played for about 75 mins total rotating through groups of two and by the end, it was very casual and whoever wanted to throw could throw. We also did a little competition separating us into two teams - whichever team reached 75 points first wins! Super fun! There was also lots of finger food serviced throughout and being replenished frequently. Cheese board, pretzels, macaroni bites (my favorite), pigs in a blanket, and pulled pork sliders (so so good). Also culture pop and some fermented probiotic drinks available at the bar. Overall, it was such a fun experience! It was a great way to meet other yelpers and do a fun activity together. read more

I love axe throwing, this is my 2nd time at Kick Axe and the ambiance is really nice. Staff was friendly and informative and overall real peaches. Loved the culture pop soda options, as I can have copious amounts and not feel like absolute trash. First ever axe throwing. It's exciting and nervous at the same time. Thought clumsiness would hurt myself or someone else, but also have been dying to try. The event last for their normal session of their normal time which is 75mins usually that goes for $43/pp. it's a really fun event for team building. I have not thrown an axe before. At the beginning my axe didn't even stick on the board. It took a little practice and and friendly tips from the staff, when I left the event I was able to got most of my axe stick on the board. And got three bulls eyes the whole night including one throw in the competition. There were sodas and finger food throughout the night. All the yelper are very friendly, really a bit judgement zone. You get cheers and claps whenever you hit any number. The staffs are also very helpful, helping everyone to improve their skills. This was my first time axe throwing and it did not disappoint! The KickAxe staff were extremely helpful and friendly, giving clear instructions and offering constructive feedback. I really liked the ambiance of the place, which is very cool and welcoming. I could definitely see coming back with a group. The cheese spread and Mac n cheese bites were good, but it would have been nice to have something more substantial for vegetarians to complement the pork sliders. Upon entering KickAxe, you are greeted with a front desk and a pretty large waiting area with board games to play. In the back there are plenty of lanes for ax throwing. Our instructors were very knowledgeable, clear, and concise when communicating instructions on how to throw the ax. Before long, we were able to start ax throwing. There are two people to a "cage", and there are explicit safety directions. I appreciated that we were able to get a game going and had plenty of turns at throwing. I do wish that there were "levels" in how far you stand from the target, but to make it harder, you are able to throw with one hand as well. The food was also pretty good. I did not expect a charcuterie-type experience, but there was cured meat, cheese, and mac and cheese bites. I've always wanted to experience Axe throwing and I thought this activity was only out of state. And to my surprise, it's right here in Brooklyn New York, so I was excited to finally get my chance to experience it. My friend and I had an amazing time and for it being our first time we got a few bullseye's (: so we were pumped. Off the bat the atmosphere is cozy just like a cabin in the woods I love it. We got served some pork sliders along side, some mac & cheese bites, and assorted cheeses and meats which were all delicious. We also got to choose from a variety of pop soda to wash it all down. I love that on each table there's either Jenga or card games to participate in. The staff was super cool and friendly and our axe throwing expert, Miller was amazing, funny, knowledgeable, helpful and a delight to be around. I even made four new yelp friends. I've never been axe throwing before and this was an amazing first experience! I want to start by saying how kind the KickAxe crew is, everyone who worked there was so friendly and helpful - starting games and giving pointers. I loved the vibe of the place, very cabin / lumberjack chic with plenty of hang out space inside and out even if you weren't throwing axes! I was nervous at first to throw but after a few rounds I felt like I got the hang of it and it was so much fun. Def a great spot to have a birthday party or go with a group of friends! Had such a great time at this axe throwing event last night! I've never thrown an axe before but the instructors were super helpful and nice. I struggled a bit at first but by the end I was able to hit the target! No bullseye for me this time, but maybe with more practice I'll get it. I had such an amazing time at this event! I have to admit that I was scared to do axe-throwing but once I threw my first axe the ice was broken & I was ready for the excitement. It's full of fun & lots of laughs everything needed for a night out with friends. If you're discouraged or afraid to try it, don't be! There are instructors who will explain how things go, what you should or should not be doing as well as show you how to throw the axe before you get started. The small bites to eat were good, especially the mac & cheese bites. This was my first time axe throwing, and i absolutely sucked! Lmao!! But, it was such a fun experience learning how to throw, and doing your absolute best trying to aim and hit the target. We had small bites and sodas which included mac and cheese bites and sliders! Yay! The staff were super friendly, and helpful if they saw you struggling to hit the board. They coached you, and celebrated with you as you hit a target. Such a fun experience! I went over to the bar at around 7pm to watch the Knicks game which they so graciously put on for me. I stayed until well after the event was over watching the Knicks opener (They lost) with the guys at the bar. All in all, i had a great time at this event. Got to meet incredible people, saw a few familiar faces, and was able to release some stress from the work day. I will definitely return here with some friends to throw some axes. A really great night with awesome yelpers. Everyone was so friendly and encouraging. Had such a blast throwing axe and enjoying sliders, Mac and cheese poppers, pretzels and drinks. The atmosphere was dim and comforting, which makes it not so nerve racking. It was hard to throw it onto the board in the beginning, but after a few rounds, it was a smoother transaction and some bullseye! I attended a Yelp Elite Event a few nights ago at this establishment. I had an awesome time. It's been awhile since I've been Axe Throwing. I enjoyed myself and I enjoyed the food. They served pigs in a blanket, a charcuterie platter, pulled pork sliders and Mac and cheese bites. Everything was delicious. I enjoyed throwing the axes at the board. I was so excited to join this event. I had never been ace throwing so I was looking forward to a low commitment way of trying it. Spoilers: I sucked at it. But the experience was really good! They went over the rules about how to throw and common safety procedures to make sure no one gets hurt. (As someone who has a weird knack of getting hit in the face, I'd like to avoid it myself). In addition to the axe throwing booths, they also had team games like jenga, a connect 4 outside, some card games like Cards Against Humanity, maybe for those who would wait their turn. In terms of drinks, they offered water, culture pop and tepache. Their other drinks are beer and wine. I get why they wouldn't serve hard liquor. The food was good bar food. The Mac and cheese Bites weren't my fave but definitely serviceable. The pretzel bites were nice and soft. I am a big fan of pigs in a blanket. The food matches the vibe of the place. I had the best time ever at KickAxe Throwing! It was my first time doing this activity and I'm so glad I did it with Yelp! It was great hanging out with some fellow Yelp buddies. The location was conveniently located with street parking (thank goodness). The venue was very clean and spacious enough to hold an event without feeling like we were on top of each other. The nonalcoholic kombucha-like sodas they offered were good enough to quench thirst. The finger foods were nice, too. I liked the warm pretzel and cheese platter. As for the actual axe throwing, the instructors were great! I don't remember the woman's name who helped my group out but she was AH-MAZING. She gave great tips and I learned pretty quickly thanks to her advice and diligent instruction. In no time, I was hitting bullseye back-to-back! So good that I was able to help my team win a game! Today, I went with my family to Kickaxe in Park Slope (622 Degraw St, Brooklyn, NY 11217). Fair warning, axe throwing is not easy, so be prepared to fail. But at the end of the session, you will become an expert. Each session is 75 minutes total. There are about 4 others in the same booth area . You can pay extra for a private session, but it's cool meeting others and playing teams . Yes, there are other games to play beside axe throwing. Mikey was so nice, and he schooled us on how to axe throw. He played some awesome throwback tracks. Emma was the best host and made us laugh so much. Max is the best bartender anyone could ask for, and that's why the bar is awesome and food great. This place is great for all ages and I highly recommend going.#kickaxe read more

A good event overall! Simple instruction on how to throw the axes and it's pretty fun once you get into the groove of things. It's a good way to let loose if you're someone who generally keeps it together but wants to just unleash it all once and a while haha. I've always wanted to throw axes so I was excited to join fellow Elites at KickAxe Throwing on Wednesday (Oct. 25) evening. Let's get this out of the way now -- I barely kicked axe but I had an axe-hilarating time! Miller, an Axe employee, got me off to a strong start. Miller was super engaging and friendly. He was also patient because I tell you, connecting the axe to the target took a hot minute. I eventually was nailing those targets with his guidance and instructions. Overall rating: 4.45 This was my first activity event with Yelp and I was really excited! I've been here before but it's been 5 years or so since that experience. I really liked the event but it was pretty funny watching a bunch of foodies race for the food than the activity. I have to bump a star because I selfishly wish I saw a menu before I scarfed my stomach in a large quantity of mac and cheese balls. This was my first time ever axe throwing, and I had a blast at Kick Axe for the Yelp Elite Event! First, I greatly enjoyed the atmosphere of the space itself. Upon walking in was the check-in desk, bar, and a lounging area with cozy and artistic decorations. Staff was very friendly and helpful with the check-in process, which was smooth itself. I love a good pun, and they had a lot of those in the forms of brightly-lit neon lights, posters, and more located around the venue. They had a number of areas set up for axe throwing itself, and utilized the space well for either small or large groups to be there at a time. And a good number of bar stools and couches in the space for those not throwing axes. I enjoyed the hors d'oeuvre's that were being served (though I got around to photographing some of them kind of late) and getting to meet and hang out with my fellow Elite Squad! It was fun getting to meet new people and learning how to throw axes. I went in without a clue what axe throwing would be like, and I left loving it! I've been Axe throwing a couple of times and to no ones surprise I am still pretty terrible at it. But it always is a thrill and I feel like I always learn a new trick or technique each time I come. This event ran really smoothly. Like the amount of people in attendance was really ideal. Never felt overwhelmed. The check in process this time was seamless. The event ended about 40 minutes early but we played enough that I think we did a couple of rounds of practice throws, at least 3-4 different games, and then another round of practice throws after a quick tutorial and training session. It was a mostly non-alcoholic event. Which is understandable. I think the more times I've come in the more nervous I get and over think possible scenarios. lol. We had options of Culture pop (which I already love and have seen at events) and a Mexican brand of a probiotic seltzer called Tepache. Never heard of the latter but the fruit punch was pretty good! Tons of snacks. The mac and cheese bites were amazing. The charcuterie board of meats and cheeses, pretzels, mini wienies kept getting refilled all night. And just as we were done and all about to leave these amazing pulled pork sliders slid out. There were some shots of Brooklyn lager and pilsner to sample up at the bar. It was a good time. Fantastic event. Got to chow down while I threw down, some axes. Having had a troubling shoulder for the past week, I was worried about the evening, but luckily got a small procedure done earlier in the day and I was ready to go. Loosened up and after some advice from our coach, Miller, I was nailing those bullseyes. We got to also try some nice small bites, pretzel bites, cheese, meats, and some mac n cheese bites. Gave me some energy to keep tossing. Towards the end we got to have a couple beer samples and a pulled pork slider. Wonderful night to meet up with friends and make some new ones.
