My husband and I came here as part of the Yelp event. We came here for breakfast and it was already very busy. The restaurant is a brewery therefore it is great for big crowds. We ordered our food. I ordered the chorizo eggs Benedict and my husband ordered the smoked ham eggs Benedict. I also ordered a mimosa and my husband ordered and lagger. Once we place our order, they gave us a number and we were free to sit wherever we wish. We decided to sit outside as it was pretty busy inside. The food took much longer than anticipated to come out, it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. I had to ask one of the employees if I were food was ready. The food was ready. It was sitting waiting to be picked up by the waiter . We didn't have time left as we had to pick up our daughter from gymnastics class. We asked for a box to go, however, we did eat one of the entrées quickly. The chorizo eggs Benedict was my favorite. It was definitely the best. The potatoes were super crispy. The hollandaise sauce was to die for I really enjoyed that. Overall, the mimosa and the food, let's not forget the coffee cake, were really good. I am sure that they had delays as it was a Yelp event and it was super busy. I will definitely be back. I am looking forward to trying out their other food. read more

7/13/2022 Just eight minutes away from the house, and arrived a bit early.. Michael T. busy setting up while, us eager Elites await to start. We've watched the demolition of the quick store, to seeing this built from the ground up. My first time, and a perfect first time being Elite event.. Upon entering, didn't really know what to expect... Behind the cement wall is a gorgeous patio seating.. From outside in the back patio to on top of the deck.. nicely designed and calming.. What's this not a big beer drinker doing at this event? Expanding my horizons. That's what Elite and Yelp Events are for. Brianna and Jason, the owners have created quite the unique venue in south Reno. A custom designed production facility that can brew every kind type of beer. A family friendly pizza spot. An adult only bar. Three patio areas- one out front, one in the back and one on the roof. Elites were treated to 4 beers to sample on the back patio- Beer Bait, Eh ? Canadian LGer, High Sierra Hazy and Seise on Nueve. I tried the hazy for its citrus notes. It was good. I stepped inside to check out the full bar and discovered the Dragon Fruit Cider. 4oz glass only $3. Now there's my new beer love. Absolutely refreshing on a 100 degree summer day. The staff served every pizza on the menu, and there are 8 specialties and 5 regular. I was able to try the Bleu Pig- pancetta, caramelized shallots, shiitake, Gorgonzola, basil and a honey drizzle. Delicious blend of the right flavors. Elevated pizza. Also tried the Pearfection- red wine poached pears, Gorgonzola, caramelized onion, crispy pancetta, toasted walnuts and arugula. Why bother to look at as my other pizzas, these two were fantastic. A tour of the production center was next on the agenda. The owners, UNR grads, returned over a year ago from San Diego to create their own craft beer brewery, Schussboom. What is Schussboom ? Skiing really fast straight down hill. So enjoy the ski motif throughout the venue. The tour discussed the use of mostly malted barley, and some other grains. Show off the grain crushing room that is explosion proof. This farm saw the importance of that. The use of reverse osmosis for the purest water that delivers consistent tasting beers. So much going on in such a limited area. After the tour CM Michael T raffled of several Schussboom prizes. Then dessert came out. Huge squares of moist flavorful carrot cake with a delightful fluffy cream cheese frosting. Fantastic event that limited to 65 people. Huge kudos to Jason, Brianna and their staff for several hours of serving their delicious food and unique beers. I was teetering on not going but I'm sure glad I did! The owners and staff are so friendly and they have created a very welcoming environment. Young, old, couples, families... all family dynamics are encouraged and welcomed! No to mention the delicious pizza, especially the pear and blue cheese We were treated to a variety of different pizzas and they just kept coming! We also got to try multiple samplers of four of Schussbooms delicious beer. I might have wandered back into the line at least a few times... There was a raffle and I lucky enough to be one of the winners, I claimed a rad trucker hat and t-shirt! The owners gave two tours of the behind the scenes brewing and my fave new guy Dayton hooked me up with a little sample of Black Mac Nuts (I hope I got that right!) stout, which was smooth and absolutely delicious. Another terrific event with a local business. Thank you to Shussboom, Yelp and Michael for making this happen. Even with the heat and the wind, there was a good turn out. Shusshboom was nice enough to offer a sample of their pizza, wings, and four types of their beer for us to choose from. Followed by a nice piece of carrot cake. The food was very good, and the three beers that I tried were all wonderful! We were also treated with a tour of the their brewery. There was plenty of space for our large group, both inside and outside. They have misters outside for those hot days! There was also a space for corn hole, for all to enjoy! A bit of a late review but I had to leave some love for a great event! I've been to Schussboom a couple of times but only long enough for a really quick beer and snack. I had never been outside or on the rooftop patio so it was so cool to see more of the place this time around. To start everyone at Schussboom is SO NICE! I loved learning about the brewery and after finding out that the owner Jason has an engineering background you could totally see that the brewery was created and designed by the mind of an engineer. I sampled 3 of the 4 available beers: the Eh? Canadian Lager, the Seise on Nueve (French saison) and my favorite, the Bear Bait (honey raspberry wheat ale). The food was delicious and I especially liked the crust on the pizzas that tasted like sourdough. I was too chicken to try the spicy wing challenge but the other wings definitely hit the spot. I'm looking forward to being able to stop by again and spend some time at the bar or at least try some of their cocktails and maybe bring the nieces and nephews to the family friendly area next time. First Yelp event ever and was so fun to check out a new place in Reno other than trying to find places downtown. The location is off of South Virginia so a bit of a drive from familiar local spots like The Eddy and Ten Torr. It's nice to see Reno have more local businesses that you know can be a fun time. Food, brews and entertainment for the kids. Not as big due to the location but the upstairs seating is nice if you can find a shady part. For the food, my favorite were the chicken wings as they were crispy and cooked well. The sauce they had to try were sweet Smokey bbq and a peppery hot wing sauce. I added a little Parmesan to the hot sauce which was a nice combo. Overall, great spot for kids or grabbing a few drinks after work on a weekday. Parking can be better since there's only a few spots in their parking lot and hard to avoid the no parking signs from the residence and dog park nearby. read more

This was my 2nd time here. I came with my old co-worker to this event. Parking was hard to find since it's a small area, but my +1's significant other dropped us off. When we entered, Michael gave us some Yelp swag and wristbands. We moved to the patio area where pizza, wings, and beer were served! The line wasn't too long for food, but they were out of the flavored wings :( We were able to try all the different pizzas. I wasn't sure what the names were for the pizza, but the food was all delicious! I love their ranch and had extra sauces on the side. For their beer flight, they offered four different kinds of beer: Beer Bait, Eh? Canadian Lager, High Sierra Hazy, and Seise On Nueve. My favorite was the Beer Bait, I went back multiple times for refills. The person serving the beer was so nice! She offered water for my +1 who couldn't drink and kept us hydrated on this hot day. There were two brewery tours, we made it to the second one. Afterward, we were served carrot cake! It was homemade and tasted so good. The Hot Wing Challenge began around 7 and we stuck around to witness this. It was great, too bad I can't handle spicy. They gave out gloves to those who signed up. It was a mini challenge with two wings instead of the normal one. Thank you to Yelp and Schussboom for having us! I will definitely be back when I'm feeling some beers and pizza. Such a fun time and a very informative one at that! I have to say, I believe this was one of the funnest elite events Ive attended! The Schussboom dining room is an open space area with lots of room and quite welcoming for children of all ages: Cornhole outside, kids play area and an adult play area ( bar) with a nice open air upstairs, altho hot during a summer afternoon but downstairs had nice misters going on the outdoor patio. Pizza was very good and the beer selection was good. The tour of brewery was interesting altho quite small from the one I used to be dragged thru as a kid at the Falstaff brewery in San Jose ( and had to close my eyes as girlie calendars galore were about) lol The chicken wing hoe down was a hoot! read more

Great food and beer! The parking was a bit of a nightmare and we had to park across the street at Walmart, but the food and drinks made up for it! They have a wide variety of pizzas and drinks. Definitely felt like a quest to find parking. After many laps around and driving to see if there were any parking lots near, I was reminded of living in the Bay Area and having to park and trek to a concert venue. But after finding a spot from a further distance, I can say it was definitely worth it! After seeing how busy the lines were my friend and I discovered the beautiful patio! I had no idea this was here. I had come once before during the winter (perhaps after they opened), so this gem was a great discovery. I can only imagine what the sunset must look like wow! We made our way to the pizza, which looked there was a great variety of different ones. Each one that I tried I really enjoyed. I was telling my friend about the last time I came enjoying the Salt and Vinegar Tater tots (one year later and still remembering definitely left an impression!) The tour was great, I think this was the first brewery tour for me so learning all the different components and how yeast is made daily just showed me how much of a personal investment is made into what one loves. I loved the overall vibe and the fire pit seating on the side. I think this place is great for Summer, with the variety of seating. I saw some really cool merchandise that I'm considering going back for plus sampling some ciders! After driving away I saw how enchanting all of the patio lights were. Awesome location (horrible parking) with tons of beers and food to choose from. We were impressed by the tour on their knowledge of the industry, the education we received on alcohol content, and the sugar process within a beer. We enjoyed light apps and enjoyed some really tasty beers the Saison was a favorite. My personal highlight was the high-top area, the misters, view, and open seating was so much fun. Some recommendations would be QR menus (which may have been there but I missed them), napkin holders, and a "place your own order" kiosk. Thank you so much for having us! Oh, and one more thing... To all you Yelp Elite members, when the event is light apps and not a full meal please do not load your plates so high that they are about to fold in half. I love Schusshboom! The beer is fresh and so distinct the the region. I love the variety of beers. This is not just a bunch of IPA like some places. Yes they do have several ipa. But I really enjoy the Hefeweizen, fruited beers, ciders, lagers, pilsners and all other types of beer. It's a one stop shop for outstanding beers from throughout the beers. It was so great to meet the owners. Seeing the operation was impressive. Their passion was clear and their attention to detail truly shows their love for the their product. The pizza is legit. It tastes like a home made pizza crust with just the right amount of crunch. The toppings are expertly curated. Perhaps the best part of the whole place is the family friendly aspect. We now have a routine of picking up the kids at daycare and bringing the whole families to Schusshboom for the kids to play while the parents enjoy some craft pizza and beer while watching sports. I can't think of a better evening! It's great to support local businesses, it's even better when it's an outstanding business with outstanding people. read more

Wow wow wow wow. This event had it all!! Cornhole. Wings. Pizza. Beer. MIST MIST MIST MIST We had a lovely time joking around and hanging out with all the yelpers. Each of the four beers we got to try were delicious and unique. I was lucky to get to try two varieties of pizza and I enjoyed each of the creative offerings. Carrot cake is my favorite cake and this was a formidable offering!!! We got some sweet silicone cups (I have a tendency to hit and break cups while talking so this will be a real life saver for me!) We enjoyed talking with various staff including president Briana who taught us new things about Reno public health codes! And Katie beer poured extraordinaire! We loved the tour too! Reverse osmosis! As the wife of a home brewer, I loved getting the chance to see the behind the scenes at Schussboom! I was impressed with their reverse osmosis water purifying system. I had never considered the impact smoke season may have on a beer. The direct hookup to their tap was also unique. I am surprised that with a beer list so good, they're planning on staying an on-tap only microbrewer, but I guess I'm just lucky to live in driving distance to enjoy it! Schussboom was so generous with this yelp event. Pizza and beer were basically unlimited. I tried each of the beers on tap and liked them all for different reasons. I love the name. German is a sweet language with things like Schadenfreude ( the joy you feel when some one else has a hard time) and Schussboom, such an aptly made word to indicate the feeling and sound when skiing down hill. The place is a large space good for teams and parties to enjoy. I like that you order in one spot and pick up in another and your name is announced on a loud speaker. You don't have to keep watching or listening as you can be anywhere in the property and hear your order is ready. The night before the event I looked up their beers and saw a good 5 or 6 I could drink. I'm a dark, non coffee flavored beer fan. So I know what I wanted to try. Looking for something more than Brewers Cabinets "Dirty Wookie" and the Fox's "Naughty Boo Boo ". Well, as might be expected for a large event like this, they had 4 beers on tap for the sampling. Ew. Not Darla favorite. I'm one who will make faces at light beer. The super nice gal serving the samples suggested I go inside and ask at the bar about the darks. On the way we chatted with Michael T and he introduced us to the guy who poured us 3 of the remaining dark beers they had on tap. Having run out of the first two I had wanted to try. The other three were fun to try but I MUST go back for the others. Everyone was so nice and in a happy mood. Despite the heat of the day, we were able to sample many styles of pizza and wings. My first Yelp Event did not disappoint! So much fun! I learned a lot about the brewery & loved the owners enthusiasm & love for what they do. The owners were super welcoming, they were walking around introducing themselves and asking ppl where they were from etc. The food was really good! The pizza has like a brick oven vibe and I was trying all sorts of different spins on pizza that I was not mad about! I wish they labeled the pizza so I could recommend what I loved. My husband loved the bbq one with the fried onions on top. The wings were SO yummy. Juicy, fell off the bone, and flavorful. The beer was great. I loved the seis on nueve which I couldn't pronounce and said it in a different way each time I ordered it. I also enjoyed the Bear Bait which is a honey raspberry wheat - not too sweet which I prefer! It was great for the heat! Venue is super spacious and family friendly! The staff here were SO NICE. I came at about 11:15 for my 11-12 seating and they were running very far behind. I had a Bloody Mary and it was delicious. I skipped out on trying the food because I heard the kitchen was backed up at least an hour and didn't feel the need to contribute to the backlog. I met some other friendly yelpers on the patio! The parking lot was crazy full, so I had to park across the street and run across the 5 lanes like frogger, but I did A-Okay. When I have come here (once before) on non-yelp occasion I recall parking being super lean here. Great reminder for me to come back to this place. It's right next to the Reno Ice rink I visit frequently. read more

This was my first Yelp event and I loved it. As you can see from the photos the food was very well portioned and the staff was great. We arrived at a busy time so it took us an hour to get our food. My girlfriend got the chicken fried steak with two eggs over medium and house potatoes, while I got the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and house potatoes. Her and I split our plates so we can share the deliciousness of our food. I will say that the biscuits were soft and moist and the gravy had bits of sausage and that made it bomb diggity. Want to first give a shout-out to the organizers, Michael from Yelp! and the ownership of Schussboom Brewery for opening your business up for the Yelp! Elite community and putting together a fun event!!! There was such a great turnout on a hot summer late afternoon/early evening. Actually, it was extremely hot. That was the only downside to the event was the temperature. Everything else was perfect. The food, the restaurant, brewery facility, and most importantly how all the servers and staff were extremely accommodating. There was a ton of pizza and for those who were drinking the beers on tap and alcohol confections. It seemed as if every pizza they offer at Schussboom was being brought out on the table. There was a couple of tours of the Brewery facility and even some raffle prizes given away throughout the event. There is one thing I would recommend doing differently for any big event they have in the future. That is to have the line for the food going on both sides of the picnic tables because the line was very long and given how hot the temperature was outside. I have gone here a few times and will continue to come back and support Schussboom Brewery! read more

I was excited to come back to this spot! Last time I went was right after their opening and it was amazing to see the transformation since then! The owners are so nice, friendly and knowledgeable! I loved getting to hear their stories and get to know them! The brewery tour was interesting, I love how passionate they are! This also shows in their delicious beers! I had such an incredible time at this event! Schussboom was easy to find and we were lucky to get a great parking spot. When we first walked up, I was struck by how much seating there is! By the front door there are outdoor chairs and tables, and inside there's plenty of long tables in the family friendly area along with tables in the 21+ section. I really loved the assorted neon decor, a nice touch! All of the food was delicious, I can't wait to come back for more of the pizza we were served and to try all of the wing flavors! I can't stop thinking about the bleu pig pizza and the Buffalo sauce for the wings. My favorite beer was the Bear Bait, the raspberry flavor was so delightful and I'm so excited to come back and try all of the other beers! The atmosphere of Schussboom is so inviting, but the thing I was most delighted by were all of the wonderful staff members. I had some great conversations with Dayton and it was wonderful to hear all of the love and care that goes into the beer on the brewery tour. When we left out the front, I was happy to see how packed the place was! The front patio was filled with families and friends enjoying food and drinks in the evening breeze and shade, and I can't wait to come back and join them. The first to arrive and the first to leave, I tried to make the most of my hour at the event last night. Here are my thoughts: The venue: A great renovation of a space with some history. Open space, sleek modern looks, and ski theme... even if the name is kind of strange. The back patio feels like an afterthought. The front space feels more natural to me (and is in the shade). Incredible production facility! The order at the counter concept is a little weird to me for a place of this size. It makes sense but I am not sure it is efficient for the customer. The product; I enjoyed all three tasters I had (wheat, hazy, and saison). I think having cold 4 Oz pours helps. My previous trip here I tried two beers and they both ended up tasting pretty bad once they came to temp and more flavors could be deciphered. I am not sure if the beer has gotten better or if I just drank it while it was cold. The pizza was ok. Nothing bad or great about it. I thought the crust could have had a bit more flavor. But it was fine. The teriyaki wings were big, juicy, and moist but they didn't have much flavor. The fried cheese curds were freaking amazing! The event: Despite a few difficulties, the staff were awesome. Once again, I am grateful that we had this opportunity to learn more about a local business thanks to Michael T and Yelp. My fiancé and I met I very nice married couple (who shared their cheese curds and poutine with us). It was a nice event. I am bummed I had to leave before the carrot cake! Overall, this event did a lot to improve my opinion of this business. My first experience left me feeling like I had little reason to return. If I ever have a reason to meet my South Reno friends for beers and grub, I will tell them to grab the kids and schussboom on over. This was a fabulous Y.E.S. (YELP ELITE SQUAD) event! The sampling of food and beer on the patio was an absolute pleasure and 100% enjoyable. Having visited this establishment many times, it was a treat to be able to meet the owners, hear the story of starting the brewery and the history of the prior building. Above all the "backstage" tour of the brewery and all its equipment complete with an explanation of how they brew their beer was incredible. This place goes above and beyond to brew and serve high quality beer. Additionally, they aren't just making and pumping out simple Ales like many other brewpubs, they go the extra mile making pilsners, lagers and the like! Hats off to this fine establishment. I tried 3 pizzas...crust is kinda soggy on the sausage, and my fav was the mushroom pizza. The pancetta, pear & goat cheese was ok...too salty for my taste. The wings were crisp and juicy. Not sure what the brown sauce was supposed to be, but it was not tasty. Like maybe terriyaki but powdery? The naked wings were delish! I'm not a big fan of flavored beers (or beer in general) but did enjoy the raspberry beer (bear bait) & fav was Seis on the River (mild & slightly sweet). Nice roomy restaurant. Super fun and you could really tell how passionate the owners were about their brewery. The wings fell off the bone and left the bone clean which made my jaw drop. All the beers were super refreshing and the perfect choice for the outdoor venue. Learned a lot about the brewing process and found it very interesting! Pizza was bomb, especially the crust! Only downfall I had was the parking, we had to park across the street and cross a 6 lane street to get here since there was minimal parking on that side. The staff at Schussboom were AMAZING. So friendly and easy to talk to and knowledgeable about their product and company, but overall, just plain fun. The food was fantastic. When I had eaten here previously I had some notes, but I wouldn't have changed a single thing this time. Everything was delicious and well executed. The cocktail selection was fantastic and the tastings they were offering were all really great. I'm not a huge beer person but I legitimately enjoyed every one. It was very hot and rather crowded out on the patio, but Schussboom did a nice job of serving up tasty treats and showing off their beers and other offerings. I grabbed a couple of slices just as the pizza started flowing and good thing I did because it was flying fast! And the gluten free pizza was an appreciated addition to the samplings.
