    Mud pie and strawberry

Five stars for Neal. He took his time explaining the history and machinery. Fun fact, it's not custard it's ice cream. The strawberry flavor was a delight. The ice cream is velvety but not too heavy on the tummy. I hope this place gets more exposure and I wish nothing but success!

What a great yelp event today! Thank you OC team and Hayley for putting this together. It's always greatly appreciated. I stopped by today to specifically try the Reese's Cup. I'm a huge Reese's Pieces fan so it was a must! Oh boy, the ice cream is so soft. And flavorful! They only make 4 flavors a day since it's made fresh daily. I posted a photo of October's flavors in case y'all were interested. Neil was a very pleasant fellow. He told me about the history of Stricklands and was kind enough to give me a run down of how it all works there. He seems like a genuine and devoted employee. It was such a pleasure to get to speak with him today. There's no seating inside so I'd say stop by and grab a scoop for your way to the beach!

Thank you Yelp OC and Strickland's for a yummy experience! Upon arrival, we were greeted by the two gentlemen working behind the register. Their flavors rotate daily so when we went on a Saturday, the available flavors were chocolate, vanilla, strawberry oreo and mint chocolate chip. As part of the Elite Experience, I was able to order a Medium Mint Chocolate Chip in a waffle cone. I also ordered a Small Chocolate in a cup as well as I wanted to try multiple flavors. Both were delicious and creamy and I especially loved all the chocolate flakes in the Mint Chocolate Chip which added great texture. While they don't have any tables, there are a couple benches inside as well as a couple benches outside where you can enjoy your frozen treats. Delicious custard, reasonable prices and friendly service! Thank you for the opportunity to join and I can't wait to come back to Strickland's next time I'm in Costa Mesa!

Thank you Hayley and Yelp OC for this experience! The owner is super friendly and took his time to explain their flavors and also their history. Apparently their locations primarily reside in Ohio and their location is the first one in socal. The texture of their ice cream is very soft and fluffy. I tried the strawberry oreo flavor, a little sweet, but still tasty. Coming in, you don't see that they have many flavors. They offer 4 on the weekdays and 5 on the weekends. However, this is because they make their ice creams fresh daily and they also have different flavors each day of the month! I saw a lot of unique flavors so I hope to come back later and try a new flavor.

One of my favorite Yelp elite events purely because of the customer service. My friend and I came around 7:15 (all the way from Brea, mind you!) and after a U-turn into a parking area, we walked inside. I will say, it's a bit of a hidden spot. Even before I said I was there for the Yelp event, the owner was SO kind and told us the flavor options and guided us through the menu. We sampled both of the daily flavors, Butterscotch and Orange + Pineapple. Now listen, I do NOT like butterscotch, but it was so good that I got it in a cone and forgot to take a photo! My friend got the orange pineapple and we even got a discount (we also tipped!! Be sure to tip at these events). I truly hope they succeed. The customer service and the unique flavors (it was so cool seeing the machines they use and the texture was so yummy) really made this place stand out.

Lovely staff!! Good flavors. Great ice cream! Ice cream was super soft and light and not very cold?? It was a unique ice cream that I really enjoyed! I tried the black sesame and Reese's cup. The ice cream is very simple, but so light that it's easy to eat a lot of it I'd love to come back and try a different flavor. I wanna try a milkshake too!

OVERALL : Thank you to Yelp OC for this delightful treat! I have been a fan of Stricklands ever since they were at their old location near UCI. They closed for a while, then reopened this new location here in CM. I have been a few times already, but was excited to come back again this time for the Yelp Experience! They have a small but freshly made set of rotating flavors, so there's something new to try every day! Their flavors are posted on their website + social media. They specialize in delicious custardy ice cream, but also sell sundaes, slushies, and milkshakes. Service is always fast and friendly. There's seating outside to enjoy as well! PARKING : Super easy to park with a big parking lot nearby. The actual storefront isnt facing the parking lot though, but it's right around the corner from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf! FOOD/DRINKS : Strawberry Oreo - chocolately but not too sweet still, and I loved the oreo chunks mixed in! The strawberry balances things out. The Medium size was big and enough to share for 2!

Thank you Yelp and Hayley for organizing this! Such a sweet event. The owner was super friendly and helpful. Honestly, great customer service goes a long way. I wish there were a little more than 4 flavors but, the two added special flavors are delicious! Makes me want to go back daily/weekly to try other flavors they come up with.

Had the pleasure of attending this Yelp Elite event at Stricklands in Costa Mesa, and wow--I'm officially a fan! Stricklands was originally founded in 1936 in Ohio, and it's amazing that we're lucky enough in Orange County to have the only location in California outside of Ohio. The store itself is immaculately clean and organized, which immediately makes you feel welcome. I got to meet the owner, Neil, who was incredibly friendly, approachable, and helpful. He shared some background on the business and walked me through their offerings, making the experience even more enjoyable. I've been curious about the trending Dubai Chocolate, and finally got to try it as a Dubai Chocolate Sundae. It did not disappoint--fresh, high-quality, and absolutely delicious. Normally, I don't eat ice cream all that often, but I left a total convert. The location is also fantastic--right next to Triangle Square, close to shopping, dining, and even the beach. Bonus: it's in the same parking lot as my hairdresser, so I know I'll be popping back for more whenever I'm in the area. A huge thank you to Haley, Neil, Stricklands, and Yelp for hosting such an awesome Elite event! Experiences like this make me proud to be part of the Yelp Elite community.

I raced here on a Tuesday after work to try their black sesame ice cream. I do not spend a lot of time in Costa Mesa, but this place could change that. The ice cream was super smooth and creamy, definitely some of the best I have ever had. The black sesame flavor was unique and good, and I liked that the ice cream was not too sweet. I love that they have rotating flavors and will definitely be back to try more (especially the Asian ones like taro, red bean, and pandan). Service was great. The person helping me was new and still getting trained, but both him and the owner were so kind and patient in explaining everything to me. Thank you Yelp, Hayley, and Strickland's for this event!

Thank you Yelp OC and Strickland's Ice Cream for hosting this event! I waited until the last day to attend this event since I wanted to get the mint chocolate chip flavor. I was told that I was able to get a small or medium size of anything, so I took advantage of this and got the medium ice cream in a cup with a cone on the side. I believe that they slow churn the ice cream so it was smooth and creamy. The mint chocolate chip flavor was solid and tasted exactly how I expected for it to taste. I also got the strawberry oreo flavor, which surprised me a bit. I loved that the strawberry didn't taste artificial. There were very minimal oreo chunks (which I enjoyed) so it didn't overpower the strawberry. Workers were kind, patient, and friendly. They let me sample multiple flavors. Overall, a wonderful experience and I'm grateful to have been invited!

Thank you so much for organizing this awesome event! Ice cream?? Yes please! I went with my 3 year old and had the best experience from start to finish! We ordered a kids chocolate and peanut butter cup in a cone. Everything was amazing! My daughter kept sneaking bites of mine. We both finished everything and left with big smiles. The person working was incredibly kind and helpful. The shop was clean. Not a lot of seating, but the benches were sufficient.

Strawberry & Mud Pie flavors in a Regular Cup

When I initially walked in, I discovered that it's Asian Owned! Love that! The owner was super kind and explained all the flavors they have and the different options offered. They have 4 machines designated for each flavor which shows that they create their ice cream from scratch all the time. I got the Strawberry and Mud Pie flavors and it was so good! The mud pie was very light with its mocha flavor not overwhelmingly rich which I enjoyed. I have to admit that it did take me a while to find the place and I got lost in the parking lot haha! Would come here again though :)

[Parking]: $15 per vehicle for on-site parking just to enter the OC Fair & Event Center. [Admission]: Our party purchased the same-day tickets and paid a $16 per person entry fee. [What to expect]: The market was approximately half food vendors and half arts / crafts / gift vendors. There were solid craft and gift vendors, but not too many art vendors. The food was extremely overpriced ... a simple appetizer = at least $15+ & a filling meal = at least $25. The only real positive? There was a mahjong area that offered free lessons. The performance stage was alright. [Food]: Our party ended up getting only 6 pieces of soup dumplings (aka XLB) from Dumpling Dream for $14 and a cup of gelatea from Boutcha for $7.20 (one of the most affordable and best item to get at the market). [Conclusion]: If I ever come back to 626 Night Market, I would probably stick with the Arcadia location as parking is free and the admission fee is slightly cheaper. I am still having a hard time digesting the fact that getting into the market cost $30+ before even buying any food if I come here alone and I would also need to spend another $25+ just to feel like I had eaten a legit meal. I am good with this one-and-done visit.

I didn't realize that a lot of the activities are actually various community groups that sponsor and host their booth. For example, we went to a booth hosted by an aviation society where you can make your own airplane out of styrofoam. So each booth varies by activity, content, and who the sponsoring organization is. Some other fun activities that we did were planting a peppermint plant, trying out various musical instruments, playing with hoola hoops, and pretending to be a veterinarian. I'm not sure if this was part of Imaginology or not but they had a huge area with farm animals and there was even a contest for breeders to compete for their animals (like goat breeders). That was fun for my girls to watch! There were a few food options here, and I'm personally not a big fan of fair food but I was pleasantly surprised. We got Hawaiian chicken bowls - one was orange chicken and one was pineapple teriyaki. It was pretty good for "fast food". I also let my daughter have dippin' dots ice cream, which was a special treat! The only thing that I would caution is that the traffic to get in was crazy. It took us about 45 minutes in line to get past the gate. Once we were in, parking was no problem. It was just that they had directed all traffic to only go through one gate, instead of allowing people to go through any gate. So I would plan ahead next time.

What a great spot featuring stunning views and a uniquely decorated round bar as the centerpiece. The event was timed perfectly for us to all get checked in and enjoy the sunset, with Catalina in the background as clear as day. I was able to experience Yelp Bingo for the first time which was a great way for everybody to meet each other. Complementary mini-cocktails were served, with mocktail versions also available by request. I enjoyed the each of the cocktails before seeing the menu first. It was a pleasant surprise at how good they were with no expectations up front. Pink Flamingo (Del Maguey Vida Puebla Mezcal, Lime, Thai chili-Infused aperol, Palo Cortado, Watermelon, egg whites). This was absolutely delicious. I wasn't expecting mezcal at all, and the smokiness was at the perfect level. It had great complexity from all the other flavors that all went together so well. HB Christmas (Ford's Slow Gin, apricot liqueur, lime juice, grenadine, egg whites). This one was also very good, with a sweeter profile and well balanced. Both drinks had a foam top which always wins bonus points in my book. As the sun set, we enjoyed conversation from the comfort of couches in front of a nice warm fire pit which was perfect on a chilly evening. After an hour or so, we headed downstairs to Lorea for a family-style dinner. The restaurant is an open-air space, but long rectangular heaters above run the length of the tables, keeping it nice and warm. There was great live music playing around the corner making the environment even more enjoyable. A parade of appetizers came out shortly after we were seated. The Parker House rolls looked like cinnamon rolls, and were so soft and fluffy. The layers made them even more enjoyable to eat than standard rolls. The sushi platter was visually impressive and colorful. An interesting protein combination was waygu beef and crab, along with salmon and tuna, all served on a bite of crispy rice. I had the waygu and tuna which were very good. The Harvest Apple Salad was light and refreshing. Dinner was served with their signature Laurel cocktail (Lavender-infused Absolut Vodka, orgeat, lemon, carmelized pineapple). It was light and balanced with a little sweetness. Next came the parade of entrees. My favorite was the 32oz Tomahawk steak which was pre-sliced and cooked perfectly medium-rare. It was so tender and flavorful. My favorite sauces were the chimichurri and the peppercorn which was rich. The whipped potatoes were so creamy, it was almost like eating pudding. It was also served with popovers and asparagus. The whole fried fish was moist, flakey, and flavorful. I really enjoyed the mango salad on the side which was crisp and fresh. The grilled chicken was moist and the dish had a lot of different flavors on the plate, but the first two entrees were my favorites. The side dish of roasted acorn squash really surprised me. The slices were buttery but it was brown butter which added a great richness and flavor I wasn't expecting. And the pomegranate seeds added some tartness to round out one of the best veggie side dishes I've had in a long time. I was happy to clean up both plates on our table. You can't have three appetizers and three entrees without having three desserts! I love carrot cake and my eyes lit up when they came out with a plate of whoopee pie looking mini cakes and they were delicious. Another plate had two good sized espresso mini Basque cheesecakes. I'm not a big coffee fan but the flavor was light and I enjoyed several bites. The star of the show was the Apple Alchemy dessert. It is a very colorful plate, and then the bed of dry ice below is activated for a great smoke show. The different versions of apple flavor were great, and it was surprisingly light. If this all wasn't enough, they also served us an after dinner digestif cocktail. The Velour Royal (Hine VSOP, Bailey's salted caramel Irish whiskey) is a little on the strong side with Cognac, but the salted caramel Irish whiskey adds some sweetness to tone it down. It was a great finish to a fantastic meal. Service at both Treehouse and Lorea was excellent, with all staff being very professional and friendly at the same time. Both locations also had a certain classy feel that I really enjoyed. All of the food and drinks were excellent, and I really enjoyed the presentation of the food dishes. I'll look forward to returning to both places soon. As always, it's nice to catch up with Yelpers I've met at other events, and to socialize with new friends. Thanks again for a great evening!

I won tickets to the Taste of Huntington Beach from Yelp! The event is $65 per person and benefits…read morethe HB Central Library. The event brings in a lot of vendors in and around Huntington Beach. This was my first Taste of HB event. There were breweries, wineries, food, and even grocery vendors. The food and drink is all inclusive with admission which means you get your money's worth just by walking around and trying everything out. It began at 11 am for VIP and 12 pm for the general public going until 4 pm. If you brought your lawn chair you can camp out for the entire time enjoying the live entertainment and sunshine. You park at the HB Sports complex where parking is $1 for the entire day or you could valet for $5. Highlights for me were the spicy edamame from Reef's Edge Grill (Shorebreak), Three Twins ice cream, Strongbow cider, Pan Roast from Ritter's, and the corn and watermelon samples from Solita's Tacos. Great event and can't wait to check it out next year.

Bought 2 vip tickets to this event. We came during vip hour…read moreand they were serving mainly appetizers and drinks that time. It was a little hard to find empty tables to seat since there weren't much seats avaliable. During tasting hours, we tried so much food from the booths. I appreciate how Taste of HB has many tasting booths (40+) for everyone to try! The lines weren't that much of a wait, but there was a lot of people so it was hard to get through. We went for multiple rounds for most of the booths and enjoyed every booth's food! Our experience here was enjoyable. They had bands playing and other giveaways going on. Parking wasn't a haggle. I'm planning to go here again this upcoming year! Can't wait. You guys should go check it out.
