HUGE tree? On a hill? Little access?N O P R O B L E M for these guys! Seriously... WW! John & his amazingly talented team of climbers, cutters, trimmers and equipment operators are absolutely 2nd to NONE! I had a massive, 70' Oak tree in a landscaping bed, surrounded by a retaining wall & concrete patios, on a hill, lakeside in Somonauk, IL in the Lake Holiday subdivision. I called three different tree services who told me it was too complicated and dangerous and couldn't (and / or wouldn't) do it. Then I found John on Angie's List. Only TWO companies came up as options and after speaking with John, my search was over. He assured me that no job is too small or too big for them to do. The timing was right and they had my tree down safely, literally two days later. It took five guys and nearly two days to get this tree down. At first the $12K price tag seemed ridiculous until I saw what they all did and what was involved. This was a dangerous and very complicated job and absolutely fascinating to watch. The guys were in constant communication with each other and completed the job quickly and safely. Each and every branch was 'tethered', "caught" once cut, and then slowly lowered to the ground, picked up and taken away so as to disturb as little of my landscaping as possible. WOW! John (the owner) was very personable, accommodating & clear when explaining everything. He even had the guys cut up the nicer pieces of wood for my firepit and offered to load it into our neighbor's trailer for him to take away for himself. When they were finished, they cleaned everything up including an area of our neighbor's yard that had blown debris in it. How's THAT for customer service "above and beyond the call"...! WOW! The company name implies it's just a gutter business but check out my photos and you'll see the real talent lies in their tree service. Elite Seamless Gutters takes pride in their work and I take pride in my home. I am so satisfied that I encourage anyone that wants to see the quality of their work to drive by my home, stop, ask me any questions you would like. Additionally, too many contractors (in my experience) come onto a job, don't want to be bothered, want to do their way without concern of customer, and many times have the most difficult time to get them to show up each day and finish a job, or finish the job correctly. Elite Seamless Gutters, listen to every concern I had, addressed the problems I had with home, devised a plan, and they delivered on everything they said they would and exceeded my expectations. When workers arrived, I asked the employees if they minded if I watched, asked questions, and take pictures along the way. None of the employees minded and actually encouraged me to ask as many questions as I wanted. For the first two days, I spent all my time around the employees, watching, learning, and asking many questions. The employees were more than happy to answer all my questions, address concerns, and I learned a lot from watching as well. Knowledge; this company has the most professional workers I have ever encountered. Each one has their own specialty pertaining to the job and each worker so professional and all get along with each other so well. It was amazing to see that they truly enjoy their job and they enjoy working with each other. It was almost like best friends work atmosphere. Here is something amazing about the company as well. They custom build most all, and the work they do is to the customer 100% satisfaction. Now, at first, I found that a little hard to believe. However; there was a mistake made toward the beginning; communication mistake; wrong color..... I noticed this and made a comment, without hesitation, the person I spoke with ensured they changed colors, and they only had partial materials. Without losing any work time, they got on phone made some calls and had all the proper color materials onsite in less than two hours. Never noticed any slowing in job because they had some of the right materials in trailer. I said to one of the workers; good thing I noticed early otherwise I would have been stuck with white. Multiple workers, said nope; even if they had to tear everything down and start over it would be no problem at all. Customer satisfaction is number one concern so tearing down and starting over would not be a problem with them or company, because that is their policy. One other thing; they will not leave a job until the customers says they are happy with all the work, have no concerns, and everything completed to their satisfaction. I had a pretty big job that required a lot of work. While they were working on my home, I addressed maybe three things I would like done or added. When I addressed this with the workers; they just said yes, we can do that no problem at all. The workers are very accommodating to any of your needs. I will mention, items I mentioned were reasonable not outrageous. Wow, just don't see this from contractors. This truly is one of the best companies in the state and I give my highest endorsement for Elite Seamless Gutters out of Spring Valley, Illinois. The owner's name is John French. What a character this guy is. Just a great guy to speak with. So knowledgeable and I was surprised a company of this size had the owner come talk with me about the job, what I wanted done. I needed a company that could look at my roof, replace gutters with seamless gutters, replace sofit, facet, redo all windows (not professional work prior (different company), doors, garage door and install new underground downspouts. John and Sarah French and the entire crew of Elite Seamless Gutters are the best! A bad storm tore down a huge limb on a tree in our backyard that had a power line going through it. The force of the wind and the limb falling tore the power line loose from our home. It tore siding loose and ripped off the electrical service box. John and his workers cut down two trees from our yard, removed the stumps and repaired the torn siding. They also removed bushes and ground out roots from around our house and by the alley. We had them remove the old gutters from the house and our detached garage and install new gutters and downspouts with Leaf Guard protection. They worked quickly and did an excellent job of cleaning up when they were finished. Their price couldn't be beat! These guys are great! After moving into our new home we noticed a flow problem with our rear gutter that was causing drainage into our soffit rather than the downspout. When we initially called for a quote from another company we were told we would need a new roof along with an extensive and expensive upgrade on our gutters. They said they would be happy to do it.. well I'm sure! Since our roof was not in bad shape this seemed a little odd. Then came Elite Seamless Gutters! After an initial survey of the situation, John let us know that we only needed a larger gutter. They came out a couple days later and within only a few hours we had new gutters and they even replaced the damage soffit free of charge. I live in a very old home with an old garage and an old patched over driveway. Having no plans to move in the next ten years, my wife and I decided that the time for an overhaul of the garage, garage floor and driveway was long overdue. For starters, I cannot begin to think that there is a contractor who is better suited to handle what my repair job through at John French and the Elite Seamless Gutters crew - who by the way are some of the hardest working, most professional, and honest guys I've ever employed. Elite Seamless Gutters and I signed a contract for what was a great price considering all that I wanted and needed done. Unbeknownst to John French was that my overhaul job would require a lot more work and effort on his part to get it completed to his high standard of quality construction and meet the deadline. I really don't know where to start with the high praise, but here are a few highlights: 1) John agreed to have the work done in eight working days. In spite of weather challenges, the work was done as promised. 2) Additional gravel was needed for the new driveway due to what was found below the existing surface and to prevent spider cracking in a year or so. I gave him permission to do it right in spite of the fact that John practically apologized for having this unexpected expense. 3) I was in constant communication with John throughout the project via phone calls, texts, videos and photos. 4) Because I have an older home, there was an immense amount of customization work that needed to be done on the job. This challenge presented no obstacle whatsoever for Elite Seamless Gutters, however; it did require more of their time, but no more money from me. It's just the manner in which these guys operate and do business. 5) The new double garage door with commercial grade opener, stone trim finish, perfectly level garage floor, and beautiful new drive are second to none. My husband really did his homework, shopping around and comparing products, talking to different companies and driving past homes to see the final results. Elite won the day, big time! There really was no comparison. Once those gutters were up, the house looked so much better and the problems we'd had with water in the basement were over. Based on excellent Angie's List reviews, on May 3, 2019, I contacted Elite Seamless Gutters for a gutter repair. After speaking with John French for a few minutes he asked if he could call me back as he wanted to look at my house with his "program". He called back to say that my gutters were too small and that I needed 6" gutters I stated that my gutters had been functioning well for 20 years and I just needed a repair. He continued to pitch 6" gutters with gutter guards. Since my trees had grown and the 20 year old gutters were looking a little dingy, I agreed to replace my gutters. He asked to call back with a quote which he did at $7833.00. I asked if he wanted to come look at the house and he stated that he could see all he needed with his"program" and that he would do the job "next week". I took that to mean that there were a maximum of four work days for Elite before my job started. It was a rainy spring, but after more than 4 workable days had past, i called Elite the last week of May and got the answering machine where I left a message. Elite returned the call the next day and said "next week". They didn't show and didn't call. I called and was told "next week". Elite finally showed the morning of June 21 and his crew immediately was alarmed by the height of my house, the length of some runs, the placement of some downspouts, and a bay window, all of which had been discussed with John and he stated that he could see with his"program". John called my wife and said we needed heavier material, special miters for the bay window etc. for $2200.00 more. I called John from work and expressed my dismay. He offered to leave the job. In retrospect I should have accepted; instead I agreed to the additional requirements for $1800.00. John's crew was a joy to work with and the job they did looks good. During the first big rain, I noticed that one of the gutters overflowed and another had a small leak. 16 weeks ago today which is 11/28/19, I called John to ask for a service call. I have spoken to him 3 or 4 times in the intervening 16 weeks and been told the"next week or two" each time. They have NEVER come back. I'm a good hour and half drive from Elite, that could be part of the problem. If it is they should never have taken the job. Bottom line. John is a fast talking salesman who doesn't seem to me to service what he sells. I will hire a different firm to service Elite's work. read more
