Our driver was waiting for us with a sign before we got to baggage claim and helped get us manage everything, even the stroller. The car was nice and cool and he even had cold water for us. A few days later, I was reconciling my business credit card account and I noticed 2 strange charges on it. One was an 11.99 fee and the other was a bloated prepay for the hotel. I tried calling their reservation system, but it's basically a shell. I started doing some investigating and found out that this company is related to Agoda, which is a rip off hotel booking system. All you have to do is look at their ratings to see that they do things that aren't quite above board. What they did was in addition to the 11.99 reservation charge, there was also a $60 charge from this company that was unexplainable. I called the hotel and they told me that I should've booked through their front desk, and yes, they knew that this company charges for reservations. So far, I've managed to have the $11.99 taken off, and I'm working on the other $60. I have never in my life ever paid a reservation fee and I alerted the tradeshow company and talk to the facility to tell their customers to avoid this place like the plague. Traveling and doing a tradeshow is a lot of stress and the last thing you need to have the hotel group try to screw you over and knowing that you got really close to the check-in date before you found out there's not a darn thing you can do about it. And when they charge you for the rooms in advance, and this other stuff hits, and you don't know until you actually look at your statement like I actually do. It's deceitful, and it does not bode well for ever doing any business with that system again. Since I travel probably 30 weeks out of the year, I've been talking to other guys about staying at first class hotels that are owned by actual American companies, instead of these foreign owned places and their cute little fees that they like to attack on that they hope you won't notice. One of the Wyndham hotels downtown try charging your parking fee, but they don't let you know until you check out. When it's a deserted downtown, it doesn't even make sense to charge somebody. And if you want to make that extra five or 10 bucks, put it in the price upfront so people know what they're gonna be paying. It's a shame that this hotel has felt a need to go with the company that pulls fast ones on people, as work gets around and people just won't stay there anymore. Especially me.
