I love to go here and hike with my own kids. The area is so quiet and so lovely, extremely peaceful. I always leave feeling refreshed and alive. I love to walk calmly through the forest and think. When I was a kid, I would pretend to be an indian or a pioneer, sometimes an escaping captive fleeing through the woods. I have always had an overwhelming creative imagination. The park is lovely to camp in and great locations for fishing. No huge waterfalls but still nice small ones. If you are like me, you just enjoy being outside!!!

They were brightly colored and beautiful. Also the best spot for butterfly watching. Hayfields has hundreds of Silver Spotted Skippers, Painted Ladies and Monarchs. I took pictures of each and I think I photographed a Red Admiral as well. Beautiful coloring. I saw dear jumping and running around the bear pond trail. I hiked all of the trails except for the second 1/2 of the River Loop Trail. All trails are 1 to 1.2 miles. Easy to loop them together and get in a 4 mile hike. My favorite lane was Bear Pond. It was gorgeous with the mountains so close. The Rangers were very nice. I had a good time talking with them and sharing my pictures of their birds and insects! Couple of things to know: 1st, there's no camping. 2nd, get water, snack and gas before you go. 3rd. Be careful driving on Bull Pasture River Road. Very curvy road with no lines. 4th, most trails are in the sun. I loved it!!!

My son has made long-lasting friendships there. It is a rustic setting in a lovely spot and there are lots an activities, including an overnight camping trip. Lots of kids come there from the Washington, DC area and Richmond area but there are also kids and counselors who come from overseas. I'd highly recommend it as a true summer camp experience in a beautiful natural setting.

Camp Hidden Meadows is the GREATEST. I went this summer and loved it. They had a lot of fun…read moreactivities, like archery, rock climbing, and pottery. They had sing-alongs around the campfire. The counselors are really nice and supportive. They are there if you need anything and help make you feel at home. I made friends with the other campers there, and we can't wait to go back next year. I liked the cabins - they're cozy and the beds are comfortable. If you have any food allergies, like you're gluten-free, dairy-free, or sugar-free, they accommodate that and will have food options for you. They have dance parties on Friday nights, movies on Saturday nights, and the other nights are just as fun with other activities, like sing-alongs or they'll have "Cabin Nights" where you do fun stuff with your cabin, like baking or making bracelets. It's a good idea to stay for at least two weeks for your first summer. I highly recommend it!

Massive disappointment. I have gone to this camp for many years, and the way camp was managed this…read moreyear was unacceptable. People were refused Covid tests unless they had 3 or more symptoms, EVEN WITH HIGH FEVERS. My friend got sick with what they called the "camp cold." They had a high fever and were coughing, but they were refused Covid tests or basic medication beyond a very limited supply of cough drops, as they camp somehow only had one bag. One bag. For a camp of over 150. They were then left in the cabin, which had heavy insulation and a non-functional fan. Because of this, the cabin got very hot during the day and they were left to melt inside. After camp, I learned that their parents had received NOTHING informing them that their child was sick and miserable. Their were also many cases of Covid (though their were most likely more that had not been tested) . This camp costs several thousand dollars to go to and I cannot comprehend how they were lacking so many basic necessities. I will not be returning next year, and I do not recommend sending your kids here.

wow! what a terrific ride!…read more At the start, the guide demo'ed and had us try some fundamental riding techniques to make the ride safe and comfortable, and then led us on a 2+ hour trail ride suited to our interests and skill levels. She periodically asked about our comfort levels and what we wanted us to see, while pointing out things about the environment (such as a bear scrape on a tree). The trails were well-maintained, the views gorgeous and -- most importantly -- the horses seem contented, healthy and well cared for. Hoss and Charger were lovely horses and gentle for us beginners to ride. All in all, a fantastic and fun outing and a great way to experience time with beautiful horses in beautiful surroundings.

What a wonderful place and great staff We visited this…read morelocation in the offseason. It is situated at the intersection of WV 39 and WV 150. Driving through the intersection off of WV 150 takes you into the entrance of the park. The street is called Cranberry Vista and winds up the hill and into a couple of fair-sized parking lots. The challenge with visiting on the off-season is that it may be closed. Please check your dates and whether it is open when you visit. We were very lucky because after we parked and tried the door, we saw the sign that it was closed but a very nice lady who happened to be working inside came to the door and explained about the nearby parks and gave us suggestions as to places to visit like the Glades (just down the road). There are many places to see from this location that are not very far by car. It is a great place to start your exploration of the area. I plan to return during the season just to visit the shop and center but I would still recommend this place due to our wonderful experience with their excellent staff who cared enough to open up and talk to us even though they were closed.
