Both my sons were campers at Twin Creeks and my oldest son went many years and then became a counselor because he loved it so much. The camp directors are warm and welcoming people. My son has made long-lasting friendships there. It is a rustic setting in a lovely spot and there are lots an activities, including an overnight camping trip. Lots of kids come there from the Washington, DC area and Richmond area but there are also kids and counselors who come from overseas. I'd highly recommend it as a true summer camp experience in a beautiful natural setting. read more

I go to this camp every year and it is just awesome. Everybody there is so sweet and all the activitys are really fun.

Our 13 yr old son just returned from a 2 week overnight Summer camp at Camp Twin Creeks and absolutely Loved it! This was his first time being away from home for any extended period of time and did just fine. From sun up, to sun down he was kept busy with no electronic devices. He had fun and said he was totally exhausted at the end of each day, but Loved being there. He was given 3 healthy meals a day with a snack and well as an endless salad bar. I asked him; after reading another review, if he was ever left feeling hungry after eating a meal, or felt he was not fed enough. His answer to both was that the food was good, filling, and he left the dining hall with his appetite satisfied. He had a fantastic time, and left camp wanting to return next year already. All Covid precautions were taken prior to the start of camp, PCR Test sent to a lab in NJ prior to the start of camp. Bus service was provide for the 4 1/2 hour bus ride to WV and back from Dulles Airport commuter lot. Cost of the bus service is included in the camp price. Parents can communicate with their child as much as they want via an email service they have set up; you can require responses from your child, which is great. They post daily pictures of days activities, goings on etc. When I say they post pictures I mean a lot of a pictures, anywhere from 175 to 500 pictures! It's interesting to go through them all, trying to find your child, as well as getting a birds eye view of what they are doing. The camp has a well organized routine, fantastic staff, and counselors (mainly college students) that TRULY want to be there. Some even being past campers that have gone through the camp when they were younger. Having been a 2 week overnight camper from my youth (not this camp), I can recognize the organization and fun these campers are having. An unorganized camp leads to boredom for the kids, mistreated kids leads to vocalizing about it, NONE of this is evident at this camp. EVERYONE that works the camp wants to be there and it shows from pick up til the point when the bus rolls into the parking lot for drop off. At the end of the summer they actually also offer adult camp to the parents and family members; or even parties of 5. Having been to Summer camp myself as a kid, and knowing what an overnight can should provide I plan on attending the 5 day camp. From what I understand the cabins book up quickly, so the other option is to attend the 5 day camp but in your own RV. The Summer camp for kids is competitive with what is out there on the market today, but knowing we will return next year, so we will start a payment plan earlier to spread the cost out. My opinion is it's a fantastic camp; for all that was presented to us everything held up to the promise. We as parents did NOT feel as if anything was "false advertising", or over exaggerated, they are true to the words. Our son formed his own opinion and came home to us raving about the experience, the friends he met, the counselors, the great food, and all the fun things he did daily. My 13 year old son got back from Camp Twin Creeks yesterday. The counselors and other campers were great, but he was hungry the whole time. The kids were fed 3 times a day with one snack (literally 2 strawberries one day), and they were not allowed to have seconds on anything because they were told there were a lot of kids to feed. At 5'6", 100 lbs and in a growth spurt, the last thing my son needed was to be deprived of food for 2 weeks. In addition, this is not what I'd expect from any camp, let alone one for which I paid $3000+. He will not be returning. read more

Not all is good at Camp Twin Creeks. The facilities are run down. Cabins are scorching hot during a summer day and chilly at night. Activities limited to what you can do living anywhere else: soccer, baseball, hockey in an enclosed rink, swimming in a pond (lake is a really fancy word for it). The majority of kids are 12 and under. Those who have been there more than once and did not experience any other camp are likely to be happy with what they are offered. For older kids not much interesting going on. Some of the activities advertised (e.g. jet-skiing) are not available. Roads inside the park are also not maintained, when it rains they turn to mud. The bridge coming from the main road into the camp does not have a railing of any sort - just a slab of concrete that overruns with water in heavy rains. Its a wonder that the buses coming into the camp can manage to pass it. Communications to and from the camp management are scarce and often when you call nobody picks up the phone. Also, my kids requests for communication to me were basically ignored by staff. A tree fell on a shower cabin just before my kid wanted to go there. The food leaves much, much to be desired. Chicken was hard as a board according to my kid and a morning waffle cannot be easily pierced with a fork. Let alone the meager quantities of it. My kid does not eat a lot but even he was appalled by both the quantity and quality of the food. In sum, it seems like an excellent low cost and big return on investment for the owner. read more

I went to Camp Twin Creeks this summer and I LOVED IT! I do agree with Alison W. that we are hungry most of the time, But the camp has a salad bar where we can go and get seconds, thirds, or more! Overall, I would really recommend this camp! read more

This is going to be a lengthy review of Camp Twin Creeks. My son and daughter in law chose to be married at Camp Twin Creeks in Marlinton West Virginia. Their "vision" was to have a fun, informal, and relaxed weekend wedding celebration. The camp can sleep over 300, so we had no trouble with our 120 guests. It is a camp, so there will be no room service, no towel service at the pool, and no mint on your pillow. There will be zip lines, swimming, fishing, canoeing, archery, trampolines, and a water slide. You could also play, kickball, basketball, floor hockey, and whatever else you chose. There will also be camp fires, s'mores, corn hole, and a ton of memories. The cabins are rustic. The showers are rustic, but it's camp! There was a linen fee and a cabin fee, but it was very reasonable. Certainly less expensive than a hotel. Those guests who chose to go hard core and bring tents and sleeping bags were welcome to do so. The words "we won't be able to do that" never once were said. The staff at the camp headed by Director Iain Mc Clements were unbelievably cooperative, pleasant and efficient. They were very flexible, and willing to facilitate last minute requests and changes. They set up tables and chairs anywhere we asked, and then moved them to different venues for various activities. The sadist in me even requested that they play reveille in the morning to wake up the camp! My wife and sister in law did a fantastic job with decorations. It is amazing what some lighting and flowers can do. The camp kitchen staff provided breakfasts, lunches and snacks. They were also prepared to provide the reception meal, but we made other arrangements. I have to admit, that I was skeptical about trying to pull off a wedding at a camp, but I truly cannot remember having more fun at a wedding. Cost. I will not say in this review, how much it cost to rent the camp with staff for the weekend. I will say that it was way less expensive than securing a banquet room at a good hotel. It isn't my place to lock the camp down on a price. So here are the "negatives" none of which are Camp Twin Creeks related. It is remote. Infrastructure for a wedding is bare bones. It took some logistical coordination to pull it off. We arranged for food trucks to come from Harrisonburg and Beckley West Virginia to provide the rehearsal dinner. We had a caterer come from North Carolina to provide with a terrific barbecue meal. There is zero cell phone service, which was actually a plus. People actually talked with each other and did not have their faces buried in their cell phones. Kids played outside and tired themselves out participating in really fun activities. The camp is also available for corporate retreats, reunions and group outings. read more
