Oak Hollow Wedding Venue - Inside the coffee pot

The shower looks like it's never seen a cleaner or bleach. The last pic is the coffee pot. Nasty. The owner was extremely hard to contact. There were three times we tried days ahead of time to reach her for permission to see the barn again so we could plan decorating. She didn't answer her phone and never called back. We went to the property anyway. She's a ghost until the day of the wedding. Then she won't go away. Standing around every corner. She approached every vender there including the photographer and tried to sell them on her place. It was a sales opportunity for her. They do not set up chairs and tables so make sure you bring enough people! Oh YOU have to clean them too. My niece chose this place because she liked the barn. She regrets it now.

We had hoped to reschedule but after being told the $500 deposit is non refundable, I would not rebook if it was the last place on earth. A smaller, non refundable deposit and a limit on cancellation time is understandable, however they have 7 months+ to rebook the date we requested. Very disappointed as this venue was already "bare bones".

Women's clubs helped to launch the women's rights movement. The Punta Gorda Woman's Club was formed in 1925 when three clubs consolidated, The Ladies Fortnightly Club, The Women's Club Civic Association, and The Married Ladies Club. They came together to be able to be able to build a one story Spanish Mission style building in 1926 on land in downtown Punta Gorda donated by Judge William Fenmore Cooper from Illinois. Throughout the years the building housed stage productions, dances, meetings and dinners. The building housed the first library for 30 years and during WWII it was used as a USO. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. In 2000 the Woman's Club transferred the deed to the building to Punta Gorda Historical Society. The building is available for rent for private functions from the Woman's Club.

The location is easily located via gps and is mainly long stretches on the same two roads before arriving. The driveway is lovely and secluded with ponds to look at on the short drive up to the venue location. The barn, main house and bridal suite are set back perfectly. They are grand but still inviting. You can tell that time went into decorating this venue because no detail was spared. From family bibles and photos of a wedding, to wedding dresses of the brides in the family- you feel like family and warmly welcomed. The owners were so warm, kind and accommodating. There is a large tree on the property that was perfect for the ceremony portion of the wedding. The grounds have plenty of room for tents to be set up for a lovely reception as well. This is a well thought out venue for a perfect outdoor wedding. My ONLY warning is - you must love animals. Luckily, we all adore them and we're so happy to see cats, large dogs(kept inside the main house and were quiet the whole time) and horses. They even allowed our bride to take some photos near one of their gentle horses. You will NOT be disappointed with this location or family. They were a blessing and made the whole event so spectacular for my best friend!
