A good farmers market has what you expect, like in season produce. Maybe some meat, milk, eggs and canned Farm goods. A great Farmer's Market has something extra. A beloved local bakery like LuAnn's. High end macarons like Mama's Macs. Fresh pita and hummus. A band playing. Lots of people coming together. That was the Ellington Farmers Market. I bought apples, peppers, other vegetables, macarons, and bread filled with an egg. Heard some music. Good stuff. I'll definitely be back. Five Stars read more

Good selection of vendors, all fresh goods, a small but busy market This market is my go-to when it comes to farmers markets. There's a wide array of local farmers, craftspeople, and prepared dishes to peruse and buy from. Everyone is very accommodating and knowledgeable in their craft. I especially appreciate the farm fresh milk options, the spices and sauces offered, and the local bakeries. They also do a winter market at the local high school, so they have markets still going on. A great place for a hand-made gift to give. I have been to bigger markets, but this one is just right in terms of size. Good people and good products read more

Worked the Ellington market this past weekend at a volunteer booth for an organization. The Market Master was very organized and helpful given this was a new location for the market. The location is much better than the previous years. Plenty of parking and easy to get to all the vendors. Good array of vendors from bakeries, fish monger, clothing vegetable plants and other types of food. Overall given the time of year it is a good market to visit. Unfortunately it's hard to judge how busy the market would be on a nice day, this day happened to be rainy and raw. Overall this is a great little market and will give you something to do on a Saturday morning. I encourage you to try it out as I think you'll find some interesting things. read more

We've all been to a Farmer's Market or two, right? We've all seen some very nice ones and some very sad looking small ones, right? Well, I'm very happy to say that yesterday's visit to the Ellington Farmer's Market was one of the most pleasurable Farmer's Market visits we've made in years. It was pretty big, but not overwhelmingly big like the massive Coventry Market. It wasn't too small and disappointing like the North Myrtle Beach Farmer's Market (what a letdown that was). But Ellington was just right! The parking situation was handled well, with many volunteers leading us to a nearby school parking lot. The Market layout itself was easy to navigate, kind of a big circle in a field. It was pleasant, with live music, and a whole bunch of dogs, because after all, it's a dog friendly event. We strolled round the grounds and made a half a dozen purchases - a slice of pound cake, a scone, a cinnamon bun, a jar of salsa, a container of apples, and a soup mix. Some of the vendors we supported with purchases were Super Soups, Perfect Poundcakes, B2G Bakery, Luann's Bakery, and My Uncle's Garden. We were happy with the pricing structure by the vendors, the variety, the music, the cute dogs, the layout, the parking, the chill vibes, and pretty much everything about the Ellington Farmer's Market. read more

In my opinion this is not a farmers market. To me a farmers market is produce, and food products made by and provided by local farmers.farmers. this market has very little if any produce and is dominated by crafts. And riddridiculously over priced. A loaf of bread for 15 dollars? When it cost a dollar to make. A cinnamon bun for 8.00, that's for one. and the food truck, forget it. I wouldn't mind so much if there was fresh fruit and vegetables. But there isn't I don't know what happened but it was 100% better at former location. I will say parking is expertly handled. read more

There aren't many attractions to get me hopping out of bed early on a Saturday morning, but the Ellington Farmer's Market is one of them for so many reasons: Dragon's Blood Elixir Hot Sauce will have looking for ways t use hot sauce. I add this amazing clean brand, concocted by a former chef who knows his stuff, to almost anything where a hot sauce could add flavor--and that's a lot. Doug's small batch, original Strawberry Rhubarb version is a not sauce you will keep coming back for--except it's season, so hurry up before summer is over. I'm going for For Whom the Bell Tolls next visit. My Uncle's Garden is primo organic produce--the kind that makes you crave farmer's markets above supermarkets. Amazing Ackee is amazing in so many ways, the best of which is a coconut oil pastry with no bad stuff. This reminded us of our Jamaican vacation--but it's even better than the island ingredients we had there. We are customers for life. DiFiore Ravioli's bring a whole new dimension to ravioli, and it's worth the trip to Ellington, especially since it's hard for us to get to Rocky Hill--even though 15 kinds of homemade ravioli might tempt us to Uber it. There are so many more great vendors, but let me end with Mama's Macs where Stephanie's homemade French macarons will get my taste buds dancing any day of the week. It had been 3 or 4 years since my last visit and boy oh boy has it changed. It easily has tripled in size with a nice array of vendors offering fresh produce, home made goods from sweaters, knick knacks, cutting boards, furniture, maple syrup, canned goods, breads, pies, cookies and cakes. Even local businesses are beginning to appear in the line up selling their organic products. This really was a far cry from my last visit and I definitely plan to stop buy in the future. read more

I really like going to the Ellington Farmer's market, if not for the fresh fruits and veggies, then just to walk around the park and listen to the music, have a coffee and fresh baked goods from one of the local vendors. I usually run into someone I know there. Even if it's a hot summer day, you can sit on the benches in the shaded areas of the park. For a perfect Saturday morning, skip the grocery store and pick up your produce, milk and eggs from a local farmer. They're always friendly and helpful. read more

One of the few and only reason I miss living in Ellington other than LuAnns Bakery is this Farmers Market. From the Farm Animals (Alpacas always there) to adopt a dog agency, helping to find a home for an animal in need of a loving family. Down to the prepared foods and produce. You won't find another as close knit and value worthy as this farmers market. Dianne Trueb does great job ensuring those who attend get their money's worth by selecting great vendors. Now in a new town, looking for a new Farmers Market to visit...however this one by far will always hold a special harvest place. read more

Love visiting this Farmers market during the summer season. I like the market because it is small but still has a great variety of things to purchase. They usually have entertainment and a theme for each Saturday. Parking can sometimes be a pain so I like to get there when it opens. They have everything from vegetables, fruit, meats, cheese, bread, sweets, nuts, plants, hot sauce, crafts etc. They usually have a list of vendors on their Facebook page and they also list the theme of the day. The goal of the Ellington Farmers' Market Association is to provide our community with a variety of products that are grown, harvested, produced or handcrafted in the state of CT, connect residents to food production and help them create healthier eating habits, enhance the quality of life in the Ellington area by providing a community activity which fosters social gathering and interaction and to preserve Ellington's unique agricultural heritage by supporting local farmers. This is an adorable little farmers market. Very, very popular among the locals in the area. Vendors from West Hartford to the RI border come to show the people what they got. And they've got some great stuff. There is a sweet French lady who owns a bakery in West Hartford selling her breads and pastries. Try her cheese bread. Simply melt in your mouth to die for. The Fish Market from Willimantic is also selling here--great fish, and he knows his stuff. Vendors don't typically change from week to week, but there is a growing list of local entertainers who gig there each week. And the list of vendors is seemingly growing. Check out the website, make a morning of it. Have some really fresh and tasty coffee and pastry while browsing in the sunshine and warmth of summer. This is a really pretty place to shop, dine and enjoy the great outdoors. A beautiful bright spot in Ellington. The market is open Saturdays through October 19th in its outdoor location. There is an indoor farmers market held at the Ellington Y beginning late October or early November. read more

When I went to the farmer market they had terrible food but there outhouses were amazing. The seat was very warm. The toilet was very clean and the toilet paper had Christmas trees on it. It was so smooth it felt like a fuzzy blanket. After that I got the hand gel. The gel was so good I used it 10 times. It smelled so good I couldn't stop sniffing my fingers. It was great! read more

I love this Farmer's Market. There is a little bit of everything and so quaint. We go at least once a month and although it is much smaller in the winter when they move in side The Y, it is still worth a visit. read more
