they have a theme every week

This is the largest farmers market in Connecticut. It's very big and very popular. It's busy. It's open on Sundays from June to October at the Nathan Hale Homestead in Coventry. They have so many vendors, prepared foods, food trucks. There's a winter market at the high school.

My Sunday Staple is the Coventry farmer's market. It's always such a nice way to spend the morning/early afternoon on a Sunday. There are so many great vendors and it's awesome that there's the staples there each week + rotating vendors. It's great that some stands will give you samples. There is such a great variety to choose from and the local vendors are all sooo incredibly nice. My favorites are the chip family and the couple who sells pound cake cupcakes. Their personalities and products shine! Some of my other favorite vendors: -Charlene Li's pottery: her work is gorgeous. We own one of her spoon rests and olive oil dispensers, in addition to gifting some too. -I can't remember the farm name but it's along the left hand side when you walk into the field. They are always set up there with 2-3 long tables of their produce. -Cosmic donuts: who doesn't love a hot, fresh apple cider donut? I also like their coffee. It's simple, it's cheap, it's delicious! -Verdilune jewelry: beautiful, unique jewelry. I have a few pieces of my own, my friends have bought from there, and I've gifted a few as well. Be prepared with cash since some vendors don't have card readers and for the ones who do the WiFi can be very laggy and cause issues. If you end up liking the market I highly recommend becoming a "friend of the market" where you pay to get a special market bag and that gets you discounts at every vendor for the entire season!

Was driving by noticed they had a sign for hot dogs Burgers etc. So I stopped in to grab a quick bite was pleasantly surprised they had breakfast specials as well I ended up getting an egg and cheese sandwich and some home fries. But they also offered pancakes french toast. The people running the store were super friendly. I will definitely stop by here again on my way through town.

I've been here before, but that was years ago. I just love this setting at the Nathan Hale homestead. There were lots of vendors selling vegetables, jewelry, clothes, macaroons, crafts, etc. Check out my pic of the mega pan of paella! I had a vegetarian Indian dish that was delicious and a fairly spicy yet tasty bloody mary from one of the many food trucks. There was folksy music playing and several clean porta potties available. The parking was well organized which I'm told was an improvement over previous years. This is a really nice way to spend a Sunday!

My friend has been coming here for a few years now and I tagged along with her to check out the farmers market. Extremely well organized, and very precautious because of the pandemic. I really like the online ordering system, and am excited to know about this market now! I absolutely love the flower stands that are there, and everything I've bought the several times I've gone has been delicious. Can't wait to go back next year!

    Perfect family fun day!

Nothing makes me happier than going to the Coventry Farmer's Market in the summertime. We love our Friends of the Market membership and visiting with the vendors each week. The themes make it fun and exciting each week and the recipe cards they hand out at the welcome desk are so delicious! End your day with lunch at the food trucks, and you'll go home happy, satisfied, and feeling fulfilled. It's a wonderful way to support your local farmers, artisans, and businesses and spend time with your Connecticut neighbors.

The BEST Farmers' Market in CT. This market is open Sundays, June - Oct. from 11 am - 2 pm. Enjoy a new theme (see below) every week. With over 65 vendors, there is something for everyone. Enjoy live music and access to the Nathan Hale Homestead (1st floor only). Dine from one of the many food trucks. Find some of the freshest breads (La Petite France, Mariano's Bakery, Hartford Baking Co.), cheeses, pasta, seafood, organic produce, meat & eggs. Be sure to pick up some Kettle Corn for the ride home, or something sweet for dessert (or while walking around). Last weekend we were lucky enough to meet a few Alpacas and some creative vendors that specialized in upcycling (July 10: The Upcycling Trend). Tips: There is a wonderful couple that attend most market days, that will sharpen your pocket knife (or other items from home) while you shop. This is hardcore sharpening! The last time my husband had his knife sharpened, it lasted for almost a year. Great work and reasonably priced. The parking lot fills up quick, and the food disappears even quicker. The market officially opens at 11 am, but we always get there earlier. There is handicap parking, for those that need it. Dogs (on leashes) are welcome. There are Port-O-Lets (Potties) available, off to the side of the big red barn. There are so many excellent things to like about the Coventry Farmers Market. But the things I didn't like are preventing me from awarding 5 stars. The Really Cool Good Things Imagine the last 3 Farmers Markets you have ever gone to. Combine their size and multiply the sum by ten. You still have a smaller Market than this one. It is just immense -- endless row after row of some of the most amazing looking food things ever seen. Bakery items, kettle corn, 5 flavors of pumpkin seeds, meat pies, fruits, vegetables, flowers, one vendor's goods looking better than the next. Plus food trucks and restaurant stands, and live music. Every Sunday is some sort of a bonus theme day- today there was a Beer festival- I kid you not -- free beer for everyone from half a dozen microwbreweries. We came home with a spaghetti squash, a watermelon, 2 bags of pumpkin seeds, garlic bread from La Petite France, a pulled pork empanada (really good), and a bag of kettlecorn. It was very enjoyable day. The Really Annoying Things OMFG the traffic and parking--- cars were snaking along the single lane road for miles creeping into the lot from both directions. Then the merged row of cars was creeping along the rows in the lot. We saw NOT ONE person directing traffic- it was terrible.Tight aisles and corners on a bumpy grass and dirt lot. We arrived about 11:15 (the market runs from 11-2) and the traffic going in was terrible. When we left a few hours later- the traffic going in was ten times worse, but at least we saw some folks directing traffic, including one schlub that was sprawled on a golf cart gesturing to the crowds to keep going (like we needed his insight),. Another issue was the restrooms- just 4 porto-potties for hundreds of people- causing another frustating wait and line. As much as I enjoyed my time there, I definitely had some issues that prevented me from enjoying a 5-star experience. Yes this is a popular place, written up in national magazines as one of the best in New England, but I wonder if they have become a victim of their own popularity. Might they have outgrown their site?

We ventured here last Sunday, and was less than impressed w/ what this Farmers Market has to offer now. It's one of the bigger ones we go too, but it seems like food trucks are taking over. There's not much variety in fruits and veggies, I saw a lot of summer squash, radish, beets... no tomatoes, no strawberries, no watermelon, no corn, etc.. idk maybe it's just not the right time of season? To me, it felt like there's an over abundance of soaps, jewelry, clothing, and food trucks. I think I'll stick to my favorite market in Ellington which offers a good assortment of fruits, veggies, pickles, jams, pastries, fresh baked bread, etc.. everything that's great about a farmers market.

I stayed in Hartford for a decade and didn't know this market existed. From my research this is the absolute best farmers market in Hartford and one of the top ones in CT. The market is hidden in a forest. It runs on warmers months on Sundays from 11. I reached there at 11:20. Parking lot was almost full. I was very surprised to see a market hidden in the forest. In the entrance I saw keifers kettle corn. The lemonade from here send to be the most popular drink here. They squeeze fresh lemon right in front of you. If you want strawberry or blueberry they add fresh puree. I got a tanker if strawberry lemonade, which was the biggest size available. It may have container two quarts of lemonade and costed $12. It was fresh and good, though I would have preferred them to squeeze more lemons in it. I got some fresh produce - sweet potato, scallion, spinach etc. Prices were reasonable and the produce was yummy. Their were other good stuff like fresh baked bread and soaps. Among the food trucks iron and grain company had the longest line. They had a couple of beers which seems to be very popular with folks. I took Mexican street corn from these folks and it was yummy. Mercado truck was also busy. Another truck I visited was the whey station. Sight of the tater tots from these guys is mouth watering. You can customize your tater tots. I got the tater tots with gaucamole, roasted garlic cloves and jalapeno. It was yummy. Fresh roasted garlic imparted amazing flavors. I also took Nutella cream donut from the rolling doughnut truck. It was yummy as well.

I'm upset with myself for not going to this Farmer's Market years ago, as I've been hearing about it forever and have only now just discovered how much I've been missing out. So you've got your typical CT stands selling produce, meats, cheeses, syrups, jams, teas, smoothies, baked goods, handcrafted items, clothing...you've got live entertainment, you've got adorable baby goats and baby chicks and alpacas (could have just said "livestock" or "farm animals," but that doesn't paint nearly a cute enough picture), you've got a variety of food trucks...I know I'm missing a lot, and vendors vary week to week. But the point is, this is a huge and awesome farmer's market that will have you leaving with your arms full of healthy, locally grown food and tons of other goodies. Some tips: - bring bags/coolers - arrive early - there's a LOT of traffic around opening time - bring some cash- many vendors take credit cards, but some don't - if you want to buy something but don't want to carry it around, most vendors will hold it for you. Ask for that (I made the mistake of saying I'd come back to purchase some delicious chèvre, as I didn't want to carry it around in the heat, and they were sold out when I got back. I just bought another variety instead, but you can always ask for something to be held aside for you if you really do intend to go back) - porta potties are available - come a little hungry- there's a lot of sampling opportunity - food trucks are awesome This is apparently this market's final year, and I plan to frequent it as often as I can to make the most of it. Great way to spend a few hours on your Sunday morning and stock up on CT fruits, veggies, greens, beans, and everything in between(s)!

The area is very cool. I parked roadside, but the entrance is around that side of the building and there was parking closer to the entrance. Out back, there is a great view of open land, grass and trees. There are a few chairs and benches and it's a peaceful spot to eat your food and let young kids run around. I bought an ice cream flight, two cookies, Silver Queen corn and heirloom tomatoes. I'm primarily reviewing the ice cream side of the business, but I'm factoring the other things in as well. Ice cream is always tasty, but I'd say the ice cream was about average for CT ice cream places making their own ice cream. I ordered a flight of Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry Cheesecake and Cow Palace. The flight came in a cup, rather than some sort of flat container that would keep the flavors separate. I feel like I had a good chance to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter (which reminded me of a Fudgesicle) and the Mint CC (which was kind of standard). The flavors below the top two, kind of blended into each other by the time I got to them. I picked up some cheesecake flavor and berry flavor and chocolate chips. All good. A highlight was the two cookies (a chocolate chip and a peanut butter chip). The kind person who helped me with my ice cream said she made the cookies that morning. My wife ate most of the cookies, but I tried both and they were fresh and delicious. I used a tomato for a BLT. It was good. The Silver queen corn was also good. Red Barn had a reasonably good selection of in season produce, baked goods such as pies, butter, milk, jarred goods. A good place to shop for stuff like that. Four Stars
