Firstly, the smell of the flowers was amazing and this was aided by the simplistic, warming exterior that brought a sparkle of colour to an otherwise dull part of Ormiston Terrace. Upon entering the shop, you find yourself travelling down a channel of pristinely arranged bouquets leading down to the service counter. The staff are extremely helpful and responded to all my queries with a cheerful mannerism and without any hesitation. The range of services available is vast, as mentioned in the previous review, and the staff are more than happy to give you advice on what would be most appropriate for your intended purpose. Unfortunately due to my budget constraints, I left with the smallest rose available... but a pleasant experience nonetheless.

There are a lot of gimmick orientated gizmo's in here, from zombie posters to ironic retro mugs - it's all in here. It reminds me of Urban Outfitters' gift section, only better. Consumers of pop art and culture will love it and you're unlikely to come out of Lava empty handed. Surprisingly, they have a jewellery collection which also showcases local designers! There were some gorgeous earrings recycled out of old plastic items, including vinyl. There were also handmade clocks made out of old vinyl singles which would appeal to most ages. I ususally go in here to buy gifts but come out with stuff for myself! Their great mixture of goodies is suitable for guys and girls.

As I said in my review of the Mutt's Nuts, the things this shop has are the sorts of items you never knew you wanted, but will probably fall in love with if you were given them. I mean, at what time have you thought: "oh yes, I have to get some Jesus Christ sticking plasters!" This is typical of their stock, and you'll most likely be chuckling as you wonder around. They have some older, refined styles of cards, gift wrap and gifts but a lot of their collection is contemporary and funky. It's fairly big inside so they have room for a lot of stock, and you could lose yourself for a good while in here deciding what you want to buy for a loved one. Personally I loved their tiny candles in porcelain heart candle holders - five for 2 pounds was a steal! They would be great for birthday parties or for dinner soiree's. When I was looking around the owner was having a pleasant conversation with a fellow browser who must have been a complete stranger. Her welcoming and friendly attitude was a nice touch. I expect this is the sort of place that goes out of its way to help.

Although there are some baby clothes in the window display and more inside, this is a relatively small part of the store and its offerings. There are plenty of lovely candles, brooches and cards to browse from a variety of different designers. Just the sort of things you'd find on etsy, which is totally up my alley. The gift was for a candle-loving friend headed to Aus so I decided that, naturally, a nice candle would be just perfect. - They had quite the selection! One range slightly cheaper and the other a little more expensive as to suit all budgets which is great. I sniffed and I sniffed till I found just the one. Would I like it gift-wrapped? Perhaps it's because everything is white and it just looks like everything is bare and inside it's quite silent and rather than being approachable the staff just kind of looked at me which was a little off putting to say the least. Perhaps it was because I was looking a little scruffy with a hoody and my converse on or perhaps it had something to do with the fact that before I went in I took a picture of the shop for Yelp purposes and if they saw me they probably just thought I was a total weirdo. I do like Jo Malone products though and they are perfect for presents, I chipped in with a few friends to get a housewarming gift for another friend and I've bought my mum a few odd bath and body lotions from here too. The packaging is gorgeous and all purchases are put in white Jo Malone gift bags with pretty black ribbon so you don't need to worry about wrapping, it's good to give as soon as you leave the shop.

Christmas Shop sells a huge range of themed decorations such as Irish, Welsh and London, which includes London buses and Guardsmen. The decorations are very reasonably priced too, with the little tree ornaments starting at about five pounds. Christmas Shop also sells a beautiful selection of handmade glass baubles, tinsel, angels, stars and bows. There is no excuse for not being prepared for your Christmas decorations anymore as this store is open ALL YEAR ROUND!! A really quaint and unique shop which is guaranteed to make you fell all festive, regardless of what time of year it is.

BUT the corner that was Christmassy was very cute, the Christmas decorations are more traditional in design and quite well made. Plenty of tartan clad designs which would make for lovely souvenirs. I really liked the Henry the 8th and his 6 wives collection, very unique and definitely a conversation starter on any tree. I planned on picking up a bauble here but ended up getting a Santa playing the bagpipes from the Georgian House gift shop. Definitely worth a browse. I imagine it gets pretty busy around Christmas.
