Mixed impressions after two visits here. Our first, just after arriving on Manitoulin for the first time, was good. It was in the middle of a hot Saturday afternoon and salad was sounding good. My wife got a greek salad, I got the "California Salad" with chicken, and both were good. The vegetables were crisp, the chicken on mine was tender, and both had excellent dressing. My salad had avocado on it, which can be a chancy thing--it's often either mushy or underripe. MIne was neither, I'm happy to say. Elliott's offers beer and wine, and we enjoyed a pint of locally brewed beer with our salad. Service was efficient and friendly, though we were nearly the only people there at the time. Elliot's was busier when we returned for breakfast on our last day on the island. We took an open table near the door, which may have been a mistake, since we were out of the sight line of the kitchen. Though we got our menu and our waters quickly, we were mostly left to our own devices during our visit. We both ordered omelettes and coffee. It took quite a while for the omelettes to come, during which we finished our coffee, with no one showing up to give us a refill. A different waitress brought our omelettes and refilled our coffee, but we didn't see her or our original waitress again. We didn't bother waiting for a second refill. There was another waitress working in our corner of the restaurant, checking in on her customers regularly. Must have been nice. Eventually I just went to the register and told the cashier what we'd ordered, as I wasn't sure a bill would ever come. The food itself? Not bad. Our omelettes (cheese for my wife, western for me) were good, fluffy and not overcooked. The home fries were chunky rather than sliced, as I'm used to seeing them. Sometimes the chunky style can be tough and undercooked, though these were tender. You can get onions cooked with them, and I recommend that. Our toast on the other hand was flat out burnt (see photo). I don't care how busy you get, toast like that should never have been plated. Food is certainly worth a stop. If things line up right, you might get good service as well.

Great food and service. Maybe a little slow but well worth the wait. The staff were very friendly. I'll go back for sure.

VERY RUDE OF THE WAITRESS & POOR QUALITY OF FOODS. DO NOT WASTE THE $$$ TO EAT HERE!!!!!…read more Oct 12, 2025 - I ordered the battered fish and chips from the lunch menu; my friends and I agreed that the portion of the fillet is very small and quite fishy (not fresh); about my own order, I substituted the chips with "vegetable" but the restaurant was only gave the carrots. At $25.99 plus tips and taxes so it costs over $30 it's overpriced for junk foods The services were terrible as one of the waitress, the chubby one was very rude when I told her that she messed up my order. It's no apology for the mistakes she made and yelled at me for not paying attention when I ordered my foods. It seems she was trying to excuse the situation she caused. Meanwhile, this waitress was questioning me in front of other customers and very confrontational. I addressed my concerns to her it's UNACCEPTABLE ATTITUDE to the customers. The owner should not hire this type of people as the front end worker. I did report the situation to another person who was working at the cashier area. I hope the owner should investigate this situation at least .... AWFUL EXPERIENCE I NEVER EVEN HAD

When I brought it back, the owner was defensive and offered to reheat it rather than address the issue properly. I did receive a refund for the food. Looking past the tourist-pricing, the coffee itself is decent here. My cappuccino had a nice dark roast with chocolately notes, a medium body, with foam that was serviceable although could've been tighter. The ice latte was the better drink and had a hint of cinnamon to make things interesting, double shot definitely recommended to give it a stronger coffee flavor though. We also got a breakfast sandwich which had a decent amount of egg, two slices of bacon, and served with a croissant bun which actually tasted good minus the microwaved texture. Overall, this place isn't bad although it isn't great either. They do have a nice dog-friendly patio and the music is not obtrusive so it's really easy to have a conversation here. I'd say look at their menu online and decide if the prices are reasonable to you. Grabbing a quick drink won't be too bad but adding food and snacks will probably quickly add up quickly.

The place was packed with long stretched lines. Please be aware of that if you plan on grabbing breakfast here before your excursion for the day. Even with the long line, the food and coffee was awesome. We grabbed to-go coffees, spinach croissants, breakfast croissants and everything was amazing. I wish we had enough time to eat here peacefully but we were already late so had to rush. Overall, a great place for coffee and breakfast.
