Indoors is equally unimpressive, with the kitchen the first thing you'll notice as you wait to be seated. The food is the real reason why you'll come here - unsophisticated, big portions of food that will satisfy the hungriest of visitors. We had mussels, as you should on a fist visit, and were thoroughly delighted. The fries are not exceptional, but with that amount of mussels you may not even need more than a handful of fries. Open everyday until late, I would definitely recommend Kombuis to anyone who is in Oostende. Mussels, fries and a drink will cost you around 25€.

We werden in een hoek gezet terwijl er in de rijen waar het gezellig was plek genoeg over was. Toen we vroegen of we daar mochten zitten omdat we bij een bedienings punt zaten werd er gesneerd nee! Zelden zulke chagrijnige obers gezien en bij de eerste de beste frietzaak wordt je nog beter geholpen. Bediening 0/10 Het eten; wat een aanfluiting! De kreeftensoep van €19 is zo dun van het water dat je twijfelt tussen tomatensoep en kreeftensoep en dan nog van de Unox zakjes. De twee garnalenkroketten van €19 krijg je op een schoteltje met garnering een stukje Citroën en peterselie. Van borden opmaken heeft de kok nooit gehoord. De zalm van €28 is om te huilen zo klein en ook hier opgemaakte borden vergeet het! Wat slecht! De zeetong van €40 was het toppunt van alles! Wij noemen dat in Nederland schar en sliptong zo klein. Deze zeetong is ondermaats en had op zee oorspronkelijk terug gezet moeten worden om verder te groeien. We complimenten voor de kok, als je zeetong zo droog kan doorbakken dat de staart verbrand is kom je van goede huize. Gort en gort droog was deze zeetong! Niet glazig gebakken maar te lang doorbakken. Nou waren zowel de koks als bediening ook te druk met zelf eten en kauwen achter de balie in de open keuken dus hadden het ook te druk om op te letten op het eten voor de gasten. Als ik een rangschikking moet maken op mijn 60ste van slechtste restaurant tot nu toe ooit gegeten komt de Oesterput op 1 Hou je geld op zak en eet elders waar je wel waar voor je geld gaat krijgen Wij voelen ons opgelicht!

It boasts a premium location directly at the promenade with views of the beach. Great to watch the hustle and bustle on the promenade. Staff was really friendly, the wine good and affordable. We chose the 2-course set menu (you can choose between several items though). Had the curry shrimps and the small bouillabaisse for starters. Curry shrimp was surprisingly good, shrimp seemed fresh. The bouillabaisse was fine, not to thrilling and lacking some variety of fish. But for the price of course it was ok. For the main we had the Steak Tartare and the "Moules" (mussels). Steak Tartare was decent and enjoyable. But the moules were quite disappointing. Didn't really have the freshness we got used to in the weeks in France we've spent before coming to Belgium. Maybe we've been spoiled there, but the mussels here didn't hold up at all. Some items were quite good, some a bit disappointing. It was a set-menu, but as such not really cheap too. That's would be ok though, it's got a prime location this place. I'm willing to pay for that. But just to judge the food: I won't come back. For a drink? Probably so.
