I stop by here a lot and it's always a great time with good food drinks and vibes. It's definitely good to have a reservation as sometimes it fills up quickly while other days you can walk in. Service is always super attentive and helpful though! I was introduced to elm street by a friend and have been coming back since. I always love the chicken & bacon Caesar salad or the waffle fries with the dipping sauces. They have a large selection of beer and cocktails so this place has a little something for everyone to enjoy. Today I had the pleasure of attending a brunch meeting for an organization I belong to at the Elm Street Taproom. Everything was perfect, from the grilled banana bread topped with sliced banana and caramel sauce plus a scoop of ice cream on the side, to probably the best "virgin" Bloody Mary that I've ever tasted. Everyone else's meals looked fantastic as well The wait staff was fast, friendly, and very attentive. They made a perfect fit with the warm inviting atmosphere of the decor. Elm St used to be decent and has been declining steadily since the pandemic. Now, prices are high, servers are disinterested, and the food ranges from mediocre to actively bad. During my most recent and final visit with a group, our server was clearly told of a gluten allergy and despite this, the member of our group with celiac had an acute reaction. The manager was apologetic and discounted our bill; the server did not even bother coming back to the table. Unless you just want a drink with a big group, go literally anywhere else! read more

I love the elm street tap room so much! I found this place right when I moved to Somerville and have felt at home ever-sense. The waitstaff is friendly attentive and never forgets a name! Everyone should join the mug club! Drink all 40 drafts and 50 cans and earn yourself a personalized mug on the walk with special events all year. Ordered the mozzarella sticks but waiter returned later to tell us they were out (something I felt they should've known at the time we ordered). It also felt like he was rushed when taking out order (almost walked away and took the menus before I let him know which drink I wanted). At some point we were both out of water. Stopped here for a drink and snack while waiting for a show up the street. I sat at the bar and the bartender (Josh) was very helpful with deciding on something I'd enjoy - fried pickles and a pornstar martini. Both were delicious. The music was great, but it was a little chilly inside for me. My only real complaint here was the 4%! "hospitality fee" added to the entire check. This dishonest practice really gets under my skin. Any business hiding the true cost behind a mysterious fee is not one I will frequent. The prices here are already a bit inflated, so adding 4% as a completely arbitrary fee really just feels like a money-grab. If you have to hide how much things are actually going to cost your customers, maybe your prices are too high. Overall the atmosphere was nice, staff were fun and friendly, the drink was delicious, and the food was tasty.... but that fee left a very bad taste. read more

Elm street taproom is a lively bar-restaurant by Davis. They played 2010s hip hop and RnB which seemed to fit the crowd. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations as the menu looked pretty generic. I was proven wrong by their execution... The meatloaf sandwich was nothing short of the most fire meatloaf and freshly made gravy I've had. An amazing combination of flavors with the crispy onion strings, mozzarella, and mushroom. I took half home because it was very filling and it was still great after re-heating. The grilled banana bread dessert definitely hit. I thought the banana would overpower the taste but it was mild and the sweetness of the cream evened it out. This place has a very loud ambiance if you're looking to sit at the dining tables. The staff here are actually very rude and racist. This is incredibly disappointing and I would never expect this from a restaurant located in the heart of Davis Sq. This place could be a lot more successful if it wasn't for the rude staff! My friend and I were looking for a place for an early dinner and came upon Elm St Taproom. The pulled pork taco on the menu seduced me in. The host greeted us eagerly and we were seated quickly. The wait for a waiter was a good 15 minutes though. Mind you, there were about 4-5 waiters working and about 5-6 tables with diners. We ordered guacamole with chips, waffle fries, chicken wings, pulled pork tacos, and chicken nuggets. I've always thought, maybe I'm naive, that pulled pork anything would be amazing. Nope! This was the first time I have ever tasted pulled pork that was bland. The chicken nuggets were as dry as the Sahara desert. The chicken wings were flavorless also. The only things that were remotely alright were the guac and chips (not sure if it's store bought) and the waffle fries. I understand that it's a taproom which means drinking a beer is the goal. I also understand that when drinking enough beers, everything looks and tastes better but come on. I'm thoroughly disappointed with Elm Street Taproom. Highly recommend! I can't wait until I get to come here and try more of the menu! Stopped in on a nice Saturday evening and found a couple spots at the bar. There were so many beers on tap, and even a while selection of sour beers! I got to have a flight of sours! Sour beers are my favorite. My friend got an IPA flight (easy enough to come by in New England lol). After getting my sour flight I ordered a full pour of another sour on the menu and my friend and I ordered the chicken nuggets. I'm not sure what I was expecting with the chicken nuggets, but what we got was a pleasant surprise! They were hand battered and DELICIOUS! The dipping sauce was great too. The bathrooms were so clean. This place is definitely a departure from the bar that used to be in this location, and it's definitely for the better. 4.5 stars and will return. read more

We stopped in here on a Friday night to get drinks after dinner. They did not have a cover as most of the bars across the street did. They had a very large beer selection which was nice and had a wide variety of Octoberfest/Pumpkin flavored beer. I definitely want to go back to try their food menu. read more

Stopped by here in Davis Square. I was expecting your normal average taproom bar food. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! Really good food here. I got the nachos, honestly was expecting some boring tortilla chips with cheap salsa and dry chicken. It tasted like home made (not from bag) tortilla chips and a nice fat scoop of guacamole, with very good cheese. the chicken was nice and flavorful too! The fried pickles were good as well. Nice fluffy batter which is different than other pickles I've had. I ordered the fish and chips. Not gonna lie I was expecting a ginormous portion of fish and chips and I thought this portion was on the smaller side for $18. I'm not complaining though bc I probably don't need a mountain of fries with a fried fish filet on top. the waffle fries were nothing special to note, pretty normal fries. The fish was great tho! Very nice crust and you can see if fried to perfection in my picture. I really loved the Cole slaw too. The perfectly sliced thin shreds of cabbage in and light sauce, not too heavy. So I've been here multiple times now and I have to say Elm Street is by far my favorite restaurant in Davis. They've handled COVID restrictions to the best of their ability and managed to keep most of the pre-pandemic vibe alive and well. The food is fantastic, which is why I keep coming back. For context, my initial (two star) review is below. I've since lowered to one star. Looking through pictures, here, it's obvious the restaurant was running out of food. My fish and chips portion was about 1/3 the pictured entree. One small piece of fish and a small bowl of waffle fries. Not even on same plate. My wife ordered a spicy Buffalo style fried cauliflower sandwich that was supposed to come with avocado; it had a heap of coleslaw on top of roast cauliflower and hot sauce. We also noticed that most of the same three sides/ingredients (slaw/fries/salad) were reused in most entrees. So, to recap, restaurant is low on food and short staffed. Rather than close or modify operations, they charge full price for the full menu and under-deliver on everything. Staff are super nice and helpful, but clearly unsupported by management. And with all due respect to the back of the house, the food doesn't taste good. Will not return. Meh. The portions are small and the food is pretty bland. Servers are very nice but the restaurant is poorly managed. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and was pretty impressed! We happened to walk by and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Veggie Hash ($14) and waffle fries ($9). The Veggie Hash had a filling mix of roasted zucchini, red onions, tomatoes, corn, cubed potatoes, an egg (which I requested to be well done), and vegan Hollandaise sauce. You also get your choice of toast, so I had to go with sourdough, of course! The entire entree was just brimming with flavor and seasoned to perfection. The waffle fries were equally as delicious. They came with a trio of dips (ketchup, honey mustard, and their special sauce) on the side. I liked their special sauce the most!! The fries were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside so it was the perfect consistency. I packed the remainder of it to go and they still held up well a few hours later, even when I heated them up in the oven! I thought their Chopped Salad ($15) wasn't worth the price due to the teeny portion and what was included in it (a few cubes of cheese, some diced onions, and tomatoes on a small bed of greens). Beautiful redesign of the old Joshua Tree, the interior is gorgeous. It's owned by the same peeps who own Five Horses, so I had high expectations for the food. I found the food to be very mixed, and that might be because they're still ironing out the kinks of being new, but it definitely fell short of what Five Horses is known for. Portions are also very small and expensive. We got the nachos, the fried pickles and the cauliflower to share. We were told that the nachos were huge and a good group order, but when they arrived they were cold and also very petite, they could probably feed 2 or 3 people (3 is pushing it) for an appetizer. Had they been served hot, they'd be good. They come with trimmings like refried beans, cheese, tomatoes, Guac and olives, but they should provide a side of sour cream. The fried pickles consisted of 3 dill pickle spears sliced in half with most of the batter falling off, there were lots of bald spots on the pickles. And the cauliflower is basically a stirfry with some very spicy yet un-flavorful sauce, if you're looking for a healthier option that would be the one. It also arrived cold. They've got a great beer list and everyone working there is very nice, the atmosphere is fun. I'd come back to have drinks but would most likely pass on the food, it's expensive and I'd rather eat where you get better portions and quality for the price. read more

Not terrible but not great. First of all it's trendy, which is fine but doesn't always equate to a place being as good as the hype. In this case, it isn't. But it's not bad. Clean, nicely designed spot. Decent sized bar. Has brunch on the weekends and the item I tried (brunch wrap supreme) was off the brunch menu. It was tasty. Still it's overpriced, both the beers and the food. Didn't feel like the staff was particularly friendly and gave off a we're so cool vibe. Go. Or don't go. Such an improvement over Joshua tree!! The place is completely transformed and looks beautiful. Probably a 15-20 minute wait around 6:30 on a Saturday night, great food and huge variety of beer. The sandwiches were on the pricy side at $15-16, but nothing out of the ordinary for the area and they were great. I got the veggie sandwich with carrot hummus which came with waffle fries, there aren't a ton of menu options but it seems like what they have is all solid. Lots of apps/small plates that I look forward to trying. They also have a mug club where you get a 22 ounce pour for only a dollar more once you try all 64 of their beers on tap! It's kind of an awkward system where a manager has to come over and mark them off on an app, but it's great to see them trying to get repeat customers and become a local hangout spot. I'll certainly be trying to join the club!! Now only thing they need is to get back the awesome trivia Joshua tree had on Thursdays and they'll have my repeat business! read more

I have been to Elm Street Taproom couple of times. This is one of nicest places near Davis Square. This tap room has the coolest vibe. Staff is super friendly. I recommend doing reservations in advance. They have great beer variety and amazing finger food options. We tried their fried pickles. Those were sumptuous. We truly relished those. Their chicken wings with habanero are great. A bit hot. But I liked it. Waffle fries are definitely special and their house mustard sauce is delicious. This is partially my fault for ordering a kale salad which I recognize is always doing to taste a little sad. But this was an insultingly bad salad - for $15 it's literally just a pile of raw kale with a container of dressing on the side. So it's tough and bland - they could throw on some onions, maybe massage the kale in some lemon juice, literally anything to make it better. But it was the Fyre Festival of kale salads. Just a disappointment all around. The crunch wrap and waffle fries were good tho and I've gotten the lettuce wraps in the past and liked them. Hello, I was in your restaurant for the first time last night Saturday 10/23. We were a party of 5. Our food order consisted of the Hamburger, the chicken sandwich, ( which was split between two people) and two orders of the "grilled" BLT. I'm angry and very disappointed with our food order!!!! The "GRILLED" BLT was on burnt TOAST, which by the way, was BURNT completely on one side and flipped over to the inside of the sandwich to hide the fact! My blt consisted of 3 slices of bacon. One slice was burnt to a crisp and the other two looked and tasted as if they were dipped in a bowl of grease and reheated for days. The Hamburger and chicken sandwich were the size of sliders and both completely DRY! Horribly dry. Btw...the hamburger and chicken sandwich is barely enough for one person never mind sharing this plate. Oh, and the server never brought a drink that was ordered! We were seated at the far left corner at the front window right under the speaker. At one point the music was turned up and was so loud we were literally screaming to hear each other until we just gave up and stopped talking There is one compliment to the cook.....the waffle fries were the only edible food item in our whole order.
