We have been using Elmtree Doggy Daycare for a number of months now. Our dog Stella loves going there and comes back happy and ready for her evening nap. All of the team at Elmtree Doggy Daycare (a special shoutout to the young man who picks up Stella and brings her home) are wonderful and very loving with the animals in their care. read more
I've just picked up my doggy after her two week stay at Elmtree. My dog is a nervous one at best and with her slightly neurotic tendencies I was looking for somewhere for her to go that was a bit more than the norm. She usually stays with my in-laws, but they were also galavanting, so I had to find another option. After some research online I found Elmtree. I went over all the reviews I could find and couldn't find anyone with a negative word to say about them. Unfortunately I wasn't able to check out the place before hand, so I was going wholly on these reviews. The run up to her stay was very smooth. They answered all my emailed questions efficiently and kindly. I changed my mind about a few things and they were very accommodating. I was planning on getting her picked up and dropped off, but when the invoice came it was £72 each way and I decided that was just too much on top of everything else. We dropped her off the morning that we flew, it was a particularly hot and sweaty day and we'd got lost trying to find the place. Thanks, Google Maps. (Don't walk through the cemetery, unless you know where the gap in the wall is.) I was a bit stressed because of the heat and the impending 'leaving my dog with strangers.' When we arrived the lady at the front desk was awesome; very friendly and welcoming. She called through for someone to come and get my dog once all the incidentals had been looked at, like her vaccinations card and they also asked whether she'd been spayed. Then a lady came and got her. That was pretty much it and I have to admit, I was a little bit ..well I think shocked is too dramatic a word to use, but.. for want of a better one... I had arrived early hoping to get a look at where my dog was going to stay and she what she would be up to, I thought that seeing as they allowed people to drop in that it wouldn't be a problem. When I asked the lady if I could come too, she said that it wasn't really convenient and started to walk away with my doggy. I started to cry and was like.. can I just say good bye to which, of course, the lady happily stopped and I gave my doggy a hug before she was taken down the corridor. When I came to pick her up there was a similar situation. The lady came and dropped her off and was lovely enough, but I think had I not probed for questions about how my dog had been during her stay then I don't think I would have had any feedback on the last two weeks and that kinda aggrieved me somewhat. I *know* that I'm an oversensitive pet owner (this is my first dog,) but I think that probably comes as standard for someone who forks out over £500 for their pet to be boarded over two weeks. When I first left her with my in-laws I had written four sides of A4 for them to be aware of all her little idiosyncrasies - so yeah - a little overboard, I know - but I felt that Elmtree knew nothing of the dog they had just taken to look after. I know that this is what they do, so they have experience of all kinds of doggy behaviours, so perhaps it's not really for their info, but just perhaps more from the owner. My friend's dog goes somewhere similar on a day basis when she can't work from home and at the end of the day she receives a little card to say what her dog had been up to what she had eaten, etc. It's the personal touches that make it - especially for this neurotic dog owner. The only other thing I feel I should mention is that my dog is quite a bit thinner on her return. As to how grams I'm not sure at the moment, but she is visibly more boney than she was when she went in. I know for a fact that she was fed a lot because the lady who dropped her off remarked on how much she ate - so I think that it probably has a lot more to do with the constant play with other puppies for two weeks, but it's so noticeable I thought it was worth a mention. Overall I am happy with my dog's stay at this place and now that she's been there and returned a happy looking chappy, I would happily board her there again. I think there is a good chance that I turned up at too busy a time, but if you're hella neurotic like me be prepared to probe a bit to find out the information that you want. read more

I, like many a crazy cat lady before me, am somewhat precious about my cat. She is the sweetest animal alive, but she is dim. Very, very dim. Because of this, she tends to get rattled fairly easily. Understandably, this made me very nervous to board her. We are going to visit family for two weeks over the holidays and need to send her off some place. I figured we would do a trial run while we were away for four days in October. I found this kennel via Google. I've since found others that also look great. But Elm Tree was polite and lovely to work with the entire way through. Setting up the reservation and payments were very simple and handled over the phone. The person I dealt with was very friendly. The biggest testament to their service was how unfazed Winnie was when she returned. I expected a rattled and distraught cat, but she settled back in fairly quickly and didn't seem starved for attention the way she does if we're away for a night. She was clean and healthy and herself. I'd recommend them to anyone. The only pitfall land reason that I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the person collecting Winnie was late. We were given a two hour window and he arrived about 30 minutes after the specified time without phoning to say they'd be running late. This was the only hiccup in the whole process. It wouldn't have been as big a deal if my partner didn't have somewhere to be that afternoon, but he had scheduled his day around the agreed upon pick-up time. Unfortunately for me (but fortunately for Yelp!), the 'luxury pet hotel' was already fully booked for the holidays as of beginning of November, so we'll be boarding her somewhere else over the holidays. read more

I am terribly upset I am that kind of woman who regards her dog as a baby. My dog is Chanel. Chanel is a beautiful white Maltese terrier. On Friday 3 July 2015 Chanel went to the Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel while I went on my Summer holiday. Chanel had been there a few times before. I had researched reviews on the internet and comments on Elmtree were positive. Its website looked lovely. I inspected Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel before making the booking for her first stay. On Wednesday 8 July 2015 Chanel had to be taken to the Vets she had sore eyes and they seem to be itching her. The Vet advised that Chanel had a long term illness with her eye that would require eye drops for life. The Vet prescribed eye lubricant and steriod eye drops. The long term eye drops would need discussed with the owner. Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel decided not contact me the owner and just to wait. For 13 days from Thursday 9 July 2015 till Wednesday 22 July 2015 the Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel kennel report says that Chanel's eyes were responding well to treatment but are still uncomfortable for her. This is two weeks of not seeing a Vet and having irritable eyes. What would you feel if you had been left for two weeks with a sore eye including the middle of the night pain? I could not cope for one hour! On Tuesday 14 July 2015 I contacted Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel to ask how Chanel is. Is she eating well, is she okay and well. Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel responded on Wednesday 15 July 2015 that they had spoken to the staff and they have said that Chanel is doing just fine. This is at a time when her eye was uncomfortable for her. BUT Elmtree said in their letter to me that it is the policy of Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel not to contact clients or worry them on their holiday! On the afternoon of Thursday 23 July 2015 the right eye of Chanel looked so sore that the kennel thought she may need to go back to the Vet on the morning of 24 July Friday 2015. It was that urgent it was the next day. On Friday 24 July 2015 Chanel was taken to the Vet as she was not comfortable and her eye was causing her problems. Chanel had been scratching and rubbing her eye and the eye was sore. The Vet decided that this was sufficiently serious that Chanel had to stay at the Vet over the weekend and she was fitted with a buster collar. Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel did NOT contact me to tell me that Chanel was sufficiently ill that the Vet was keeping her for treatment. On afternoon of Monday 27 July 2015 I called Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel to arrange payment of kennel fees and collection of Chanel on Tuesday 28 July 2015. THEN the Manager tells me that Chanel has eye ulcers and is being kept at the Vet! Cost of the final weekend treatment by the Vet was £788.74. This level of vet's fees over a 3 day period would indicate a serious treatment programme but it is the policy of Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel not to notify owners as it might worry them on holiday. Departure date 28 July 2015. Boarding fee £780 Vet's fees £917.15 Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel had both my mobile phone number and my email address and mobile phone contact details for my friend who was in London. Why did the kennel not contact me when they initially took Chanel to the vet for eye treatment. The Manager wrote to me and said that it is generally the policy of Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel not to disturb owners whilst they are on holiday if the problem can be dealt with without disturbing the owner. He wrote that if there was anything that required the kennel to contact an owner immediately then they would not hesitate to do so. Should any animal require treatment, the management of Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel reserve the right to call a vetinary surgeon and act upon his advice. Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel wrote to me afterwards and said it would never want any of the clients to worry unnecessarily whilst on holiday. BUT I was told by receptionist Jackie on 15 July Wednesday that Chanel was doing fine, eating well and playing with her friends. They said that there was never any reason to worry me about anything . The vet prescribed a lubrication eye drop and Maxitrol. The kennel said that they noticed her eye troubles very quickly and responded to it immediately. The manager kept a very close check on Chanel. BUT never told me. One week after leaving Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel Chanel had her eye operation and is now BLIND in her right eye. But do not worry as it is Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel policy not to unnecessarily worry clients whilst they are on holiday. If I were you and love your dog as much as I do I would NEVER EVER again leave Chanel in this 'luxury' place. My poor dog and I went through horrible experience and I cannot describe in words how upset and tearful I was during this time. read more

Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel was recommended to me by a friend and my pug has already stayed with them a number of times over the last 10 months. Everyone I've talked to at the kennel has been really friendly and professional and I am comfortable with leaving my dog there for long periods of time without any hesitation. They offer web cams in the rooms for peace of mind so I can check on my dog to see how he is doing-- they even gave him a complimentary bath on his last visit and I was really happy with that! Whenever I make a reservation, they always confirm that his vaccinations are updated and ask if he has special needs for his stay. Every time I pick him up after his stay my pug seems really happy and loves his caretakers-- I am really happy with Elmtree and will continue to use their services. read more

My 4-year-old German Shepherd has been a guest at Elmtree since he was young. He's always very well looked after & the staff couldn't be more helpful. They are flexible with his special feeding regime and any other unique needs like giving medicine, socialisation with other dogs, keeping consistent with our training style, etc. It's always a good sign when your dog runs up to greet the carers with excitement & happily walks off with them when we drop him off. It gives us peace of mind knowing he's happy there - it's like a holiday for him, too! Your pet is in very good hands at Elmtree. read more

A lovely pet hotel with staff that really care. I have tried kennels and sitters but nothing compared to Elmtree. I felt reassured when I picked him up after a 9 day stay and saw he was really happy and comfortable with the staff and looked healthier than when he first came in. Many thanks to you all for taking such great care with my active Aeryn! I definitely feel safe leaving him at Elmtree. read more

We left our three cats at Elm Tree for a week last week. We usually have them looked after at home so this was a new experience for them (and us), and we were absolutely delighted by how happy, healthy and relaxed they were when we picked them up. One of our cats is an ageing insulin-dependent diabetic and it is incredibly important to us that he get the best care. The staff at Elm Tree are really brilliant, so caring and affectionate with the animals as well as being super-professional & efficient. It is also incredibly clean - I've never been somewhere with so many animals in one place that smells so fresh! They do such a fantastic job & are clearly devoted to the animals. I have already spread the word on Facebook and will tell anyone who ever asks that Elm Tree is the perfect place to take care of your loved pet when you're not around to do it yourself. read more

My two dogs were not looked after AT ALLby Elmtree Pet Hotel. The booking was done wrongly (twice, despite it being in writing) by their Manager Tom. Worse, they NEVER checked our dogs vaccination papers, which should have rung alarm bells, because they obviously NEVER check any. Consequently, one of my dogs came back with Kennel Cough. I also gave them their food, but they appear very malnourished when we collected them. NEVER EVER AGAIN - THESE PEOPLE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR DOG AND SIMPLY TAKE YOUR MONEY. read more

When i moved back to England 3 years ago with my dog Ollie, I spent some time looking for potential boarding places. I simply searched on Google, looked at reviews, but I also spent a weekend driving around visiting at least 3 different places. I will refrain from comment on the others, but it was clear to me and my partner that Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel was the one that stood out above the rest. 3 years later, Ollie has been staying with Elmtree around 15 times, and we couldn't be more happy with their service. The staff is lovely and professional. When we pick up our dog after each visit, Ollie is happy, clean and healthy. I would recommend Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel to anyone. read more

This is a pet hotel. Not a cattery. We take our cat here whenever we go away (and now especially after we took him one other place and he came back scared). At Elmtree, your cat doesn't have an outdoor space so need to let you know that right now. What they do have are two rooms to themselves and in the winter, the cat even has a heated floor! They provide a scratch post, food (you can provide your own if your cat is picky like ours), litter tray and the facilities are very clean!!! I can't say much about the dog space, but the times we've been there with our cat and people have brought in the dogs, they seemed happy to be there. In fact on one visit, the dog brought in by a couple, seemed happy to be there and ran over to the people working there as if they were his best friends. They are not located in London so you'll either need a car to get your pets there OR even better, and we've used a couple of times, they offer a pick-up and delivery service!!!! I highly recommend this place mainly because the facilities are clean, the staff are caring and your pet will come back as if you'd never been away. read more

We have used elmtree for 5 years ever since buzz was a puppy and am very pleased with the care given. He is always very happy to go in and comes out in the same mood. He sees the same staff so gets to know them and very pleased to see them when he gets there. He is safe and the kennels are indoors so home from home. read more

My husband and I own 4 cats and a dog which is a Japanese akita breed named Kain. Kain is not a people friendly dog, although he adores other dogs it takes him a while to adjust to a new environment and new people. Finding kennels where he would enjoy himself and especially where he would get on with the handlers was very difficult. After finding out about the Elmtree pet hotel we went and visited the premises. The place looked immaculate, was spotlessly clean, the staff were all very friendly and the dogs we saw looked happy and well looked after. One of the handlers, Mandy showed us around, we explained our situation with Kain and how he doesn't get on with people, and she suggested that we will bring Kain to Elmtree over the weekends so she can spend some time with him. She also offered to accompany us whenever we took Kain out for walkies in Forty Hill, all in her own time, she bravely walked with us even though Kain was not fond of her and continually growled at her. After few weeks, Kain eventually let Mandy take charge of his lead and allowed her to walk him. Now, apart from close family Mandy is the only person who can handle Kain and look after him with the greatest of care. Kain absolutely adores her and they have built a special bond, this is all because Mandy's determination and patience. The Elmtree pet hotel will always be the only place we take our pets to and we are more than happy to recommend the kennels to anyone. read more

We booked a week stay for our pomeranian, and they came to pick him up at our home. Once he arrived I was able to see him through the web cam in his room. He was placed in a tiny empty room. Thankfully I sent his bed and a toy with him just in case, had I not done that I'm sure he'd be lying on the floor with nothing else around him. They left the luxury hotel at 17 and turned off all lights. He was left with a tiny bowl of water and almost no food. I was aghast to see no one would come by and see him for almost 17 hours!!! The water and food bowl became empty within a few hours, he was scared and cried in the corner all alone. It was heart breaking to watch and not have a phone number to reach the luxury hotel. The staff isn't there from 17 to 09 you see. I had to cancel my trip and come back to London the next day. We didn't express dissatisfaction with the hotel on the phone as we were scared they'd treat our dog badly, but calmly explained we'd be back sooner than expected. As soon as we hung up the web cam was turned off. Never ever will I put my dog there again!! Our two cats have been visiting Elmtree Pet Hotel for the last four years and we wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff are lovely, the surroundings are beautiful and the place feels very homely unlike many London catteries which seem to have a "pile them in and stack them high" attitude. The accommodation consists of two rooms split by a door and cat flap. The front room has a floor-to-ceiling glass window so that the cats can watch on with intrigue as the dogs are walked around the on-site lake! While you are away Elmtree will keep you updated with Instagram photos of your beloved pets so that you can see how they are getting on which is a really nice touch. It's never nice to have to leave your pets anywhere when you go away but Elmtree's friendly and caring service always puts us at ease and we would recommend them to anyone. read more

It is a bit far for me but it is worth going those extra few miles for the quality of service that they provide. I've got a young dog, he is really still just a puppy being less then a year old, very happy and friendly chap but it is not a couch potato or little cute your - he is a German shepherd mix and some people in the park nervously scoop up their Chihuahuas when they see us...so I needed a break since I was very busy for the past few months - a little holiday, long weekend, city break - anything! And I no one was happy to take care of my dog so I searched for hotel and this place has good reviews and rightfully so as I can now say. My dog had better holiday then I! The play time, walks, exercise, other dogs company - what else do they need to be happy? read more

Our girls (bengal/british shorthair crossbreed cats) will be going to Elmtree for the fourth time this year. We found the place when it was newly opened and the girls were just 10 months old. All I can say is that I love the place and so do my cats! The staff are brilliant and don't mind at all how many times you call to check on your pet. The whole place is spotless. Our girls are fussy eaters and have to be fed three times a day which does not faze the staff at Elmtree at all. Scratching posts, litter trays and beds are all provided and must be changed regularly because they always look brand new when you arrive. I miss my cats while I am on holiday but I don't think they miss me that much because they are so well looked after at Elmtree!! read more

We left our kitten while we went on a short break recently. We'd visited first and were impressed with the facilities and the staff (who were all very friendly). However, when we went to collect our kitten she seemed quite distressed and very clingy. So this time we are going away we are going to keep her in her own home (so that she has the familiarity and security of her own surroundings) but have arranged for a cat sitter, and several friends to visit (so that she gets plenty of company). We were dissapointed that only dogs get the web cams at the Elmtree. We would have happily paid extra for this faciliy. read more

Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel and it's staff are amazing Our dog Roxy has stayed here 6 or 7 times over the last 4 years. It is clear that she loves going to Elmtree as when we get to the top of the road she gets very excited and starts to wag her tail and bark, when we let her out of the car she jumps out and runs straight in to the reception. I love Elmtree and the care that they give to my dog, i wouldn't send her anywhere else. * 5 STAR PET HOTEL. We are looking forward to their new facilities opening soon :) read more
