Firstly, they took 3 weeks to finalize the contract with my team. The contract was very poorly written with multiple inconsistencies and typos. According to my own lawyer, their writing showed a lack of communication between them and their client, the seller. When we requested alterations, they did not respond in a timely manner and often replied several business days later. I signed the contract on June 11. When we scheduled a closing date for October 30, they revealed on October 27 midday that they did not have the stock certificate or proprietary lease ready and needed 4-6 more weeks to process this! Clearly, they did not follow the proper protocol to order this when the contract was signed over 4.5 months prior. Chen's firm delayed my closing for over a month. At closing, the attorney was young and underprepared. He fumbled through presenting the documents and had to call his team for help to confirm the broker's fee. He even had to stay back after closing, after my lawyer and I already left, to organize his paperwork. Their conduct is unacceptable and, frankly, embarrassing. Their client expressed dissatisfaction as well.

My petition was supposed to be filed in March, as per my agreed date plan with Mr. Bhagwati. We agreed on the date for filing in January, and I signed the contract and paid him his fees in full at the signing of the contract. He did not provide me with any timeline of events, nor did he give me any indication on the process his firm will follow in order to go through the petition filing process. When I approached them with a full set of documents 10 days before my filing date, I got a curt reply from Mr. Bhagwati that he's swamped with work and can not look at my petition until the next month. I tried to reason with him, and requested him for a timeline that is usually followed in this type of situation. He started to ignore my emails, and would respond only after I would complain after not hearing from him for 2-3 days at a stretch. On phone calls, he started to accuse me of being a demanding client, and of holding a gun to his head - This was after my petition was delayed by one week and I had not heard back from his office with any feedback on my paperwork, whatsoever. I continued to get up at 4 am every morning, complete tons of paperwork that I believed would make my petition stronger (mainly a 40+ page business plan) and send him links with updated documents every other day. He constantly assured me that he has prepared my documentation and yet, after repeated requests and his promises, failed to provide one single document that he had prepared for my case. Not one single document was ever presented to me as proof of any work done, ever, on my petition, after Mr. Bhagwati cashed a check with 100% fee in advance. I recently got an email full of personal insults from Mr. Bhagwati that I am happy to share with anyone who needs proof. He clearly has issues differentiating professional from personal affairs. He was recommended to me by my brother in law, and now he claims I'm committing the crime of defamation by talking to my brother in law about his inefficiency. He doesn't shy from calling you names, insulting you and threatening you subtly for conversations , despite constantly missing deadlines, ignoring my emails and not returning my calls on a continuous basis. I have detailed conversation logs, with multiple requests that I made to his office for some kind of response, and I am happy to provide them to anyone who needs a proof.

They ask for full payment upfront -- and trust me, the amount is not small. After that, the office staff show no proper communication, always giving excuses. The lawyer themselves only gave vague statements and did nothing except exchange back-and-forth emails, which we could have done ourselves. On top of that, they charge 4-5 times more than other lawyers. I strongly suggest anyone to investigate deeply before going through this lawyer. Absolutely not worth it at all.
