And I've had experience as a hair model as well as with Aveda from twenty years ago. So I was hopeful that I'd find a salon with a nice staff, that had great techniques and customer service. After spending almost six hours in a chair with Brianna with an outcome that was not exactly what I'd asked for (not blended but color was okay although not quite as light as I wanted). I was still hopeful. Hopefully that she would honor a visit in a week to access how it settled. Hopeful that the receptionist would be consistently respectful. At the end of my appt I was met instead with a passive aggressive lack of communication (gaslighting if you will) experience. Brianna originally wanted to do balayage. She changed her mind and I left my trust in her after being very clear about what I did and did not want. So she chose to do backlights. Which should have created a halo effect instead of a piece look which I was given. The opposite of what I asked for. As I went to lay she kept repeating herself that she had said she did not do balayage. How confusing! Especially when the receptionist starts telling me she heard it too even if I hadn't. Wow! And I was trying to be generous with the compliments when in truth the staff was intimated that I had or have any knowledge about hair. The brand. And so, they chose to allow me experience to be negative. When I paid the receptionist ran off before I could ask for my receipt. When I did she also rolled her eyes when I made a joke about the spelling of my email. This salon experience should be a nice one. All women in there saying they are all girl friends and yet, as a new customer their attitudes were palpable. I spent six hours, and over $300 (Brianna gave me a discount which I did not ask for) my assumption is because she knew most of what I'm writing here and then some. It was an admission of the lack of customer service and service in general. Lip service is not a sustainable business model. So I'd say this salon is not looking for new clients or walk-ins. They are happy serving locals they know for a long time and have no desire to extend professional courtesy to what they consider an outsider. I work hard for my money and I gave them a chance but feel as though I'm walking away empty handed wasting most of my day and money. Service Technique Customer service Overall professionalism All need major improvement. I should feel beautiful and happy instead of like I just got into a fight with my salon. And yes, when I walked out I left the door open. I was quite done being more professional and respectful. And no, I did not leave a tip. The above and all the other micro aggressions that are too much to detail tell obviously why not. If I'm going to pay $300+ I'd rather go back to NY, LA or Aspen and spend more to be treated fairly and without subtle aggression.

A truly unique and rejuvenating experience at Yampah Spa & Vapor Caves…read more Our family recently spent some time at Yampah Spa & Vapor Caves in Glenwood Springs, and I have to say, this is one of those places that feels like an experience rather than simply a spa visit. There is so much history here. The natural vapor caves have a much older Indigenous history, with the Ute people using the hot springs and caves for healing and ceremony. The name Yampah is a Ute word meaning "Big Medicine," which feels especially fitting once you experience the caves yourself. The current Cave No. 3 facility dates back to the 1890s and has been carefully maintained while still preserving the character of this very unusual historic place. When you first walk in, the building is relatively small, but it immediately feels welcoming. It smells wonderful, everything is clean, and the atmosphere is calm from the moment you arrive. The front desk staff were incredibly knowledgeable and personable. After checking in, they give you a tour so you understand how everything works, which I really appreciated. You're given a robe and a washcloth to use for cooling yourself in the vapor caves. Downstairs, you wear your bathing suit and enter the caves. There are several areas where you can sit and relax, and the atmosphere is remarkably quiet and peaceful. There are beautiful quartz crystals from Brazil in the cave area that add to the feeling of being connected to the earth. The cooling system is simple but works beautifully. There are cold-water spigots and pans you can fill with cold water to cool yourself down between periods in the steam. There are also showers and very clean, pleasant changing rooms with lockers for both men and women upstairs. One of my favorite parts was the atrium/solarium upstairs. It is such a peaceful place to come back to after being in the caves. There is cucumber water and lemon water available, comfortable places to sit, a beautiful crystal that huge, and soothing music. It is intentionally quiet, no electronics and no talking, which makes it incredibly easy to slow down and just be present for a while. The steam itself is unlike anything I've experienced at a gym or conventional steam room. It feels different, more natural, immersive and rejuvenating. The vapor comes from the geothermal waters beneath the caves, creating a completely unique experience. On this visit, our whole family also experienced the body treatments. My son and I did the mud wraps, while my daughter chose the rose wrap. All three were wonderful experiences. After the treatment, you have a private shower where you can wash everything off, with shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. It was such a nice finishing touch. And afterward, our skin felt amazing. We actually decided not to go back into the vapor caves after our treatments because we were so relaxed and our skin felt so good that we just wanted to enjoy that feeling. I also really appreciated that you don't have to do a spa treatment to enjoy Yampah. There were plenty of people there who were simply enjoying the vapor caves, including quite a few locals. I understand that many locals have monthly memberships. We went on a Tuesday, it never felt overly crowded or chaotic. In fact, that's part of what I loved most: Yampah doesn't feel like a busy commercial spa. It feels like a historic place that has been thoughtfully cared for and preserved. We're already planning to come back about once a quarter. We probably won't do a spa treatment every time; I can easily see us coming just for the vapor caves, spending some time in the atrium, cooling down and leaving feeling completely renewed. If you're visiting Glenwood Springs, I highly recommend making time for Yampah Spa & Vapor Caves. It is historic, peaceful, beautiful and genuinely different from the typical hot springs or spa experience. And now I understand why it's called Yampah -- "Big Medicine."

The 30 minute bath in the private room was quite nice. I appreciated the ambience set by the music, dim lights, and flickering candles. There were towels in the room for me as well as a large bottle or water with cups, and a bowl of ice with a towel which I used for my face and neck. The tub was quite nice and roomy for 1 since I did the tub alone, but could definitely fit a second person. The caves were such a unique transcendent experience! What a natural phenomenon! I loved this experience. There were multiple "rooms" and areas in the cave which had varying temperatures as well as a shower to help keep cool. Between visits to the cave there was a nice indoor space to relax as well as an outdoor space (which was pretty bare bones and had traffic noise nobody was using the outdoor space). It was nice that there was no shortage of towels or cool water. There were other visitors, but it never felt crowded. The experience is definitely on the rustic side, but I don't think that's a bad thing just something to note to set expectations.

I got there and a stylist looked at me strange and asked what I was here for. I showed her my confirmation text message and she said that my stylist had called out and forgot to tell me. Thankfully, she was able to see me even though I had to wait 30 minutes for her to finish up with another customer. I was very grateful that she was able to see me, but quite frankly have decided to take my business elsewhere because of all the cancellations. When beauty services are actually rendered and received, I have been happy and satisfied. But, the total disregard for client's time and constant rescheduling negates any positive experience I have ever had here. This has been an extremely disappointing realization.
