Ever tried to play sports outside in Pittsburgh? Yeahhh…read more.. it's difficult to set a schedule because it's too cold 8 months out of the year - and probably raining 50% of the rest! Welcome... Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena. PISA, more colloquially. With indoor courts for a variety of sports and fair prices for groups to rent without breaking the bank, PISA is a great venue to have in the area. My coworkers love to play volleyball... and yes, we do have local parks with sand courts.. but it is so nice to plan out when we will play and not have to vehemently watch radar to see if the weather will hold up. PISA rents a volleyball court for 2 hours for $120 - split across 12 of us... it's a steal! The only reason to ding PISA... and it's not really their fault.... but they are trying to sell the facility and have lost all local sponsors and investments. In the past, you'd see all sorts of local companies with banners on the indoor soccer fields and the volleyball courts; now they only had one banner and you can tell that the investment had been used for upkeep in the past.

We park across University in the GE lot near Mike and Tony's. It's a quick walk up the hill and no waiting to leave at the end of the show. I love that at each show they have a themed craft cocktail. Keep in mind that the bev lines tend to get long, so make a plan on when to grab a brew. Their food is solid venue food. The pepperoni rolls and pretzels and great for a quick bite. I was quite pleased with the search result finding it's an hour drive from where I live & that the performance was reasonably priced compared to other venues 2 or more hours away. This performance was held in the Toretti auditorium of the complex & it's a fairly amazing part of the complex hosting plays musicals & other smaller events compared to the Ed Fry Arena located on the grounds of the Kovalchick Center.    I loved how their seating arrangement was laid out in such a fashion making the viewing of a stage performance enjoyable along with a state of the art audio & lighting system making for a enjoyable showtime experience. I was very impressed with the puppetry design as it looks like Jim Henson created them himself & the acting by the cast was great & a wonderful tribute to the show. I found it very funny that a guy played Dorothy & was like how Epic was that when he came out on stage. All I have to say is this was a Golden moment & will come back here to spectate another show either here or the Ed Fry Arena. Cushioned seats are wonderful especially when you don't know how long you will be there. There was plenty of leg room and I didn't feel squished. Bonus was the cup holders which was great for my little guy and keeping his cup off the floor which minimizes spills in my opinion. I would definitely be interested in coming back for another event.

A really fun and unique feature is the cookies and milk being offered during a mid inning break for only $1! That price is for tickets (!), parking which is usually $5, and selected concessions such as hot dogs, popcorn and beer. The games are legit good baseball and they have a competitive team, winning their division last year. There's a sign on one of the walls showing players who have gone on to be signed by MLB teams. The games are also packed with entertainment where fans get the chance to play for prizes, and don't miss the $1 chocolate chip cookie and milk combo, yes both for $1, behind home plate in the middle of the game. They will sell out so get in the line early. Concessions overall are so fairly priced, such as eight dollars for some interesting funnel cake fries (Reese's or Fluffernutter toppings) and $5 for a soft serve ice cream in a size you won't believe. In all this is a really fun night out! Very nice ballpark, too. My only small complaint is that they need a couple more vegetarian and/or GF options at the food stands. We had one of each dietary need in our crowd and all the GF person could eat were french fries or waffle fries, and as a vegetarian my choices were pretty much sweets, soft pretzel or snack pierogies which I am assuming are going to be Mrs. T's, while others have so many choices of different types of sandwiches etc. Maybe get a pizza vendor in here and offer some GF hot dog buns; it's a pretty frequent dietary need these days.

Mystery Mayhem Escapes was a mystery indeed because I had no idea this establishment existed. I enjoyed the facility, and the owner was a pleasant resource for axe throwing tips. Previously, I did most of my axe throwing in my enchanted forest. After one too many yeets, several maple trees ganged up and tortured me in my sleep -- leaving me behind as they ran away to find new ground. I would return, but one of the trees fell on my Nissan Leaf rental car.

All of us had a blast solving puzzles and competing to see which group would solve their room first. The puzzles are challenging and really engage everyone's unique abilities. We also had some time to test our axe throwing skills. Our group loved this too. I think that this is a great place for all types of groups. Hopefully we get to return for some more fun.
