The lighthouse is the structure of this otherwise previously dilapidated home, where you can see remnants of its past... look up from your spot in the basement and you can see tile from the kitchen and the opening for where the pipes were once attached. Enter the lighthouse and feel how real it is -- save for being hidden from the world outside rather than visible for all travelers, lighting their way. Enjoy the living space in the middle complete with a curved bed and cooling area and a few books to make the time go by. Travel higher to the attic, and see the top of this lighthouse, going round and round and shunting light like a kaleidoscope through an intricate glass 'shade'. Make your way partway back down to what used to be a bathroom, fit with a clawfoot tub and tacky retro curtain to match the typical pink tile if the time. Then venture outside and down the stairs after contemplating the black color of the semi-burnt (deliberately) wood to honor the history of the home. Take a loop in the backyard flush with coastal grasses growing wild around a massive orange cone. Bottom line: Weird, authentic-feeling to lighthouses and the coast (although I wonder if the non-native species are okay...?), and worth a stroll.

Touring the art houses is free, and the online booking has made the process easier than ever. It's difficult to describe, however a visit to Darkhouse Lighthouse is experiential, self reflective, and fun.

You're so shocked when you go in there just how many pinball machines they have. Not only that but they have machines from the early 20th century and every decade until close to the present. It was near to see the earliest games and how games have evolved over time. It was also nice to see some old favorites and games fashioned after old tv shows and movies. We had a great time playing all the games and meeting other people who like going there and playing. We told friends so we can hopefully all go back there together.

Wow, this place is staked full of pinball machines and has a small collection of arcade games. I…read morelike pinball, but enjoy arcade games much more, so this was a slight let down, but opened my eyes to the beauty of what pinball is all about. I have played pinball many times, but never heavily. I was forced to explore the pinball games more and got a great experience. I learned that pinball is about launching that ball out there to see how the machine will interact with the ball. Instead of just trying to get the highest score, just see what the game will do and try to get your ball up those ramps and hit off those bumpers. Some have extra levels with another set of flippers that make playing more interesting. I got better at playing multi-ball which is a tricky skill to master. The only downside is that you will find many games that do not work, or are shut down with no sign to indicate the games status. It kind of gets frustrating going from game to game to see which one actually works. Also, it was freezing in there today and my hands got numb from being in there for a long stretch. If you go downstairs they have the really ancient games. Most of them do not work, but it is fun to see what kind of goofy games people used to play. Sad again is a large group of arcade games they left to die and rot down there, ouch! Overall I think it is a very cool place to check out and you can spend lots of time there having fun despite the problems. Like I said there a ton of games that do not work, but this is only a small percentage of the games that do work, so the good outweighs the bad.

On my most recent visit, my favorite manuscripts on display were from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" (see photos). The current rotating exhibits have to do with the life of Abraham Lincoln in illustrated form, and also documents from the Civil War. I think these will be on display until January, when another rotating exhibit will take its place. Admission is free (donations accepted), and the museum is located in the Sheraden neighborhood, housed in a beautiful old church with stained-glass windows, and a giant pipe organ up in the choir loft . . . My family had an excellent time at one of this season's "No Scare Sundays" at the Beacon. The corn…read moremaze and haunted house were fantastic! The petting zoo, horse rides, and concession stand were also great. The haunted house and maze are much more elaborate than we expected, and we were very impressed. Even in daylight there was a wide variety of decorations and effects in the haunted house, and the atmosphere was great. The maze also had decorations, including some which were quite grandiose. Both the house and the maze also had tunnels. Not just ordinary tunnels, either. You'll have to visit to see what I mean! There were some additional surprises, too. I won't elaborate -- go check them out! Although we visited in the daytime, we could also imagine some of the additional awesomeness nightfall would bring. The staff was all friendly and seemed to care about giving every visitor a great experience. I would definitely like to go back for the actual haunted version of this attraction. We will also likely visit again next year on a No Scare Sunday. Our visit was memorable, and the low prices made it a great value, too. We stayed almost the entire four hours it was open, and I think many families would do the same.

Set $15 fee to do open play Thursday thru Saturday evenings. You can bring your own food in, and there are many tables, chairs, couches, etc to just hang out at. That's because this is a mom and pop business and the people here are part of the pinball community. They fix their own machines, which is so impressive! It's the love of the game! They have eight whole decades of arcade machines running here. There's machines from the '60s I'm amazing condition. All in all, this is an amazing spot for a birthday party or a date night.
