I needed big help with my Eugene home I had just purchased. There was no place to put my dishwasher without restructuring the kitchen. The bathroom had the most awful, early 80's, peach colored shower enclosure, I could not live with - and the counter was much too short. The backyard had a large lawn and a small deck - it was crying out for a more useful space for entertaining. My street generates a lot of traffic noise and I needed something to help reduce it. I also wanted an attractive trash/recycling bin deck, close to the street, for convenience. I looked for reviews and Emerald Valley Home Repair popped up. I like licenses and BBB ratings - Ted has them. He was professional in his walk through and intelligent, creative and confident with his advice and ideas - that he quickly put me to ease with his clear rapport I chose Ted Colee. My new larger kitchen space includes my necessary dishwasher and a couple new cabinets and sparkles with quartz counter tops throughout. He also replaced the lighting. The bathroom shower panels were removed and replaced with new bright white tiles. The deck steps down to a circular stone patio that allows for more entertaining and several large potted plants. I worked with Ted on ideas for the front driveway and we came up with a spectacular walled in - shingled and planter deck. It looks fantastic and provides more privacy in my front yard and most importantly, has reduced the road noise. The shingled trash/recycling/green-waste bin deck has a drop down ramp gate: So convenient! This was a series of jobs that effectively have turned this house into my home. Knowledge, skill, dependability, trust and respect are all vital in building that working relationship and creativity and flexibility complete the package. These guys are pros! Ted is the boss and he has two helpers. They are the cleanest, neatest contractors I have ever used. They did a roof job for me and now I am hiring them to do my floors in my house. Super nice guys, long time Oregonians, they are locals, so they know all the best places for construction supplies. Ted used to do architectural landscape, so he is ideal for outdoor projects. Ted completed a full kitchen renovation and I am very satisfied with the cost and results. The project was to take out an old cracked countertop; expand space for a larger refrigerator; replace dishwasher; replace old cabinets and add several new ones, including a new range vent that went out through the roof. Also new backsplash tiling, cabinets to each side of the stove, and a few new electrical outlets. We left the original flooring. The work was done on a house built in 1935. Prior to hiring Ted I interviewed 4 other contractors and Ted was the only one who quickly put together a detailed estimate with the scope of work and prices broken out, and without me having to ask. A different highly-rated individual contractor on Yelp was my best friend by text and phone but kept trying to sell me his surplus cabinets before visiting the house, and then he ghosted me when I asked for a written quote. Another contractor company (begins with C) sounded great but wanted three times as much (!) and wanted me to pay them an $800-900 design fee even when I already had a detailed design and was looking for something very straightforward with non-customized work. That contractor seems to specialize in excessive hand-holding clients and custom work, which I did not need and they charge accordingly even for something basic. I mention these other contractors because, in contrast, Ted was the only one who actually listened to me and honored what was requesting to be done, without unnecessary work and at a fair price. Countertops were installed by another contractor but Ted worked seamlessly around their schedule. I did choose to separately hire a certified electrician to give everything a final look after the renovation since I had other unrelated electrical issues to address in the house. The end result was a modern, good-looking kitchen done on a tight budget. I appreciated Ted's advice and his willingness to let me cut costs wherever I could. The job took longer than I expected -- COVID happened as well as some other minor delays -- but we were not in a big rush and everything was reasonable. A beam had fallen off my elderly parents home on the patio. I live in Portland and could not come take a look at the situation. I randomly called Ted who was over there immediately to look at the situation. He came wearing a mask and in no time flat had figured out the issue. Right after he called to let me know everything was taken care of at my parents home. You don't find people this helpful anymore! Ted was prompt, kind knowledgeable and super helpful. Ted was very responsive and came to take a look at our project at the agreed upon time. He was extremely friendly and seemed to be very knowledgeable. This was a Friday and he told me that we would have a bid before the weekend was over. I waited until Wednesday to get in touch with him to ask about the bid. Unfortunately I did not receive a reply. I reached out again a few days later. Approximately 12 days after we were told we would receive a bid, Ted emailed to apologize and say he would have a bid and time that he could do the work by the end of the following day. I again waited for 2-3 days after the promised time frame passed. I sent 1 more email asking if he was interested in doing the work or if I should look for someone else to complete it for us. He never bothered to respond to this email. This experience was very disappointing. Because of his stellar reviews we were looking forward to him completing our project. read more

Would not recommend. Had to do a lot of back and forth just to get them to set up the initial appointment to do some small repairs on a townhome in Eugene we own. Was told I should find someone else to do the repairs. After getting over the scheduling hump, the repairs were done and we needed a couple other small things looked at. Was supposed to have heard back but it's been several weeks and I haven't heard anything. read more
