Oh man, where do I start?! I cannot speak highly enough about these ladies. They truly put every ounce of heart into their care. From the moment you submit your inquiry to your 6 week postpartum visit. Not only do they build an amazing relationship with you, but your family as well. My 2 year old still asks about them! If I could give 6 stars, I would! Nancy, Kayla, and Caitlyn were such an answered prayer for myself and our family. My first birth was complicated and traumatic, so much so that I didn't even know if I wanted to have more kids because I didn't want to go through the experience again. We my husband and I did decide to expand our family, I knew that I wanted it to look different this time. I heard of Emergence on social media, so I contacted them as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I ended that consultation feeling so hopeful for what this experience could look like and at peace for what was to come. They provided loving and intentional care throughout my whole pregnancy, actually listened when I had questions or concerns and didn't make me feel like I was less than for having them, provided natural approaches for potentially (and successfully, in my case) avoiding some of the complications I encountered with my first pregnancy, and even made house calls (within 2 hours of me calling, might I add) with IV's when I got the stomach bug. That loving care extended throughout my birth as well, which ended up being much longer than I expected. But Kayla and Caitlyn encouraged and championed me the whole time, without rushing any part of the process, and letting my body do what it needed to do. I never once felt concerned for the health and safety of myself or my daughter because they were monitoring us while also leaving room for my husband and I to experience her birth together. They knew exactly when I needed extra support and to step in, and when I needed space to labor on my own. I've never had two providers be so in sync with my needs (both medically and emotionally) before. Immediately post-birth is now a core memory for me. I was able to hold my baby (an option I wasn't given the first time around) and had uninterrupted skin-to-skin for a couple hours, Kayla gave me a "placenta tour", which was so cool, and Caitlyn even gave me a massage while I holding my baby. Care can look like this!!! Before leaving they even quietly cleaned all of our birthing tools up, started a load of laundry for us, got all my postpartum goodies ready, and let my husband and I soak in our fresh baby together. Our postpartum care looked just like this as well, and even though we had our last "official" appointment, they've made it very clear that they our still my midwives and here for us if needed. Above and beyond from pre-pregnancy, gestation an postpartum! I was pregnant for the 5th time with what I thought would be our third baby. I knew I wanted a home birth and needed to seek out a midwife. I called several and set some appointments, Nancy being one of them. She was out of the state on vacation with her family and graciously took my call. She even took the time to chat with me thoroughly. I instantly felt a connection. Several weeks later I mis-carried for the third time. I cancelled all appointments to interview the midwives. To my surprise Nancy took it upon herself to stay in contact with me. Reaching out with an encouraging message every so often. Once I became pregnant for the 6th time Nancy was top of the list! Aside from having all my prenatal appointments in the comfort of my home, having the calmest home birth was such a dream. While they specialize in home birth, they are prepared for any direction your birth may go and are there to support you no matter where you are. They have connections throughout the local birth community and with local hospitals to ensure you are always in the best care no matter what. Amazing, soul and spirit healing journey and experience. Thank you Nancy for rejuvenating me and THANK YOU Nancy for delivering my healthy baby boy! You are God sent! You are, in a sense, my hero! After having a very traumatic experience at a hospital with the birth of my first son, my husband and I decided to take control and try something a little different. I was always also curious about water births and the only way I could experience that was through a birthing center. After much damage to my body and my poor son's broken clavicle from using a vacuum for extraction, I realized that this was not the NATURAL way to give birth to a baby. I understand its supposed to be painful, but it wasn't suppose to be THIS painful, both physically and emotionally for our little family. My hopes and dreams were smothered by what a Doctor thought was best.. who was only worried about her liability and making her "catch" at the end of her shift. Throughout my 2nd pregnancy, I was always anxious, always worried that the birth would be just as bad as my first. I probably worried about it 100x's per day, it was always on my mind. Each time I'd go into see Nancy, I'd verbalize my worries and just like that, she'd ease them. By the end my 3rd trimester, I was certain I had chosen the PERFECT place to give birth to my Baby Micah. Nancy was so amazing and so sweet and loving; I felt comfortable in her presence. When the time came, Nancy was so calm, and nurturing, said all the right things, put me in the right positions. Talked through my doubt, worries and questions. When the time came, it was amazing to feel my body take over and take control. I literally felt like I (as in my mind/brain) didn't have to do anything and that my body had a natural instinct on what to do, which I never experienced with my first due to the double epidural I was pressured to get. Yes! It was painful, but it was such an empowering experience and I seriously would do it over and over and over again. The body is an amazing thing! Once I pushed him out, I had this intense rush of happiness and relief pulling him up onto my chest, which again I never experienced at the hospital. It was if I was high off childbirth, and it was so beautiful and surreal. Thanks again Nancy for restoring birth without fear! I feel like I can take on the world! This beautiful experience has made me realize what's important in life and what I truly want to be when "I grow up". It has given me a passion I can't explain. It's hard to put into words just how special Nancy Pol is. We have been in her care on and off for over 5 years. She has help us catch all three of our beautiful, healthy, baby girls. Knowing her and having her support though all our pregnancies has been one of our greatest blessings. Nancy is giving, she is calm, she is kind and she is caring. Where do I begin.... Nancy exceeded all my expectations during my pregnancy. I never expected someone to care as much as she did. She did much more than what a "normal" midwife would do - I ended up needing special blood tests done due to a new health condition, and she worked tirelessly trying to find the right tests and called various places to help me. Nancy was such a blessing during my pregnancy. I had to be induced because of this health condition and couldn't do the home birth I wanted. But Nancy was still able to be there at the hospital and support me. She even came hours before I was in "active labor", i.e before I actually really needed her (because she was afraid she might have missed the birth if she waited until then.. and she was right because baby arrived 30-45 minutes after I really needed her support). This was our 4th baby and probably our last, but it's almost like I want another just so I could hire her again and go through the whole birth with her amazing support one more time! Lol! Bottom line: Nancy cares, she listens and she wants what's best for you in your pregnancy and birth. Thank you Nancy for all of our great conversations and thank you God for making our paths cross.
