Extremely overpriced service and poor communication…read more After hearing great things about Scott Baird Automotive from family and friends, I was extremely disappointed with the two car Services I received this year. For the first service (my partners car), I asked that if there were any issues with the car, these would be quoted before they proceeded with remedying them. I was contacted later by Scott who said there were issues, and made it seem like he had already remedied them but did not discuss any pricing or cost of this, so I assumed they were minor. When I arrived to pick up my car, I was charged far more than what was inferred as the 'genuine' parts ordered were purchased directly from the manufacturer. Apparently this brief phone call was confirmation of my agreement to proceed with remedying these significant issues, when it was vague and communicated poorly. I decided to give Scott Baird Automotive a second chance for my car given the good things I had heard about them (big mistake). On this occassion I only received a standard car service (Oil and Filter Change + minor works and ensuring car was up to spec) and was charged $250 labour for 2 hours work, $400 all up. Furthermore, they will only install 'genuine' parts that are ordered directly from the manufacturer (in my case Honda) who charge excessive rates for their parts, so you're better off going straight to your car manufacturer for your service if you are going to pay a premium anyway. Only reason for 2 stars is for the work they carried out was up to a high standard and Scott came across as genuine, but their labour and service costs are extremely overpriced and poor value for money.

I have had all problems associated with my car over the years fixed, without any recurring issues. My car often ends up cleaner than it was after the service. I am consulted before any repairs are made and effort is made to source the best value parts. Loan cars are available with all staff at the business very friendly and keen to help. I have had problems fixed by just turning up and they immediately have helped and solve the issue without cost. They are in a great location of Glen Innes if in the Eastern Suburbs and are close enough also if further south-east.

Most offer a shop with some sort of take-away food attached, a carwash and a variety of emergency goods. So, even I was surprised to write this review, but I've always had a love hate relationship with this service station. The service is fairly average at best, and at night they switch to prepay, I hate prepay. This might sound like a negative review, and in some ways it probably is, but I'm actually giving them 4 stars, for nothing else than selling fuel at a good price. A price that is up to 10 cents cheaper than some other service stations, and you don't need a stupid voucher. Thanks Mobil.

Whatever the reason I don't care, I'm just so stoked to have cheap petrol. There are loads of people always there but you'll always find a free pump as there's quite a few of them. They don't have anyone helping you with your petrol which can be somewhat annoying, but I guess you get what you pay for. Also, watch out if you're trying to turn right into it when coming from the sea side. There's a huge island that blocks you from getting in so I always try get my petrol after I've been somewhere rather than when I'm going to the city.

I've gotta be honest and say that there are a lot of guys out there who see a woman walk into their business and decide to take them for a financial ride. They make their money by telling women that the things they need for a warrant are twice their actual price and tack on a huge amount of labour on top. When I rang Dave with a quoted price for four tyres once, he cringed so hard it was audible down the phone line. He got me better tyres for half the price and replaced them while I waited. What a friggin champion. If you're in the Grey Lynn area, go and see Dave. Hell, even if you're not, go and see him. He's the best in the business.

Tyreworks was the closest garage we knew so we desperately turned around the corner and parked our care straight in front. The mechanic (I didn't catch his name) reassured us that the noise was just the rattling of a piece of debris which had lodged its way into the tire. He was right. Within 10 minutes, he removed the tire, found a small rock, discarded it immediately and put our minds at ease. We insisted, but he said he didn't want to seek payment for such a minor issue. We don't know a whole lot about cars, but I only wish the world were full of more people like this mechanic. Due to his efficiency, honesty and integrity I will bring the car here every time we experience an issue with it.

As a woman with no idea about cars, I sometimes feel I'm being spoken down to or taken advantage of at other places, but I've always had really lovely service from Pigeon Mountain. They explain things clearly and get things done really quickly, and have given me excellent recommendations and advice. Best of all, the prices are actually reasonable!
