This is way way way over due review of why my family and I love ERC! We love ERC for reasons that words cannot describe how I feel about Emmanuel however here are a few: 1. It's by the Grace of God that we found a home that has demonstrated Gods love. 2. Staff (now I call them Friends and Family) are just amazing! God called them to be where they are and we are so grateful for them. Pastor Ken, Klarc, Mike Kim, Cathy and Jessica in Kids ministry. The worship team and everyone who works behind the scenes that we don't see, Thank You!!! 3. Love how my kids love going to church. The church loves my kids and so many more. They demonstrate this all the time. As a parent, who doesn't love a Church that loves their kids?? We all do! Thank you! 4. Sound Doctrine - Teachings are Biblical. The Gospel is our guide...it's the way and the life and church exemplifies this. 5. Loves us/you no matter what your background is. It's a very diverse church where everyone is welcomed. - So many programs the church offers. - ALPHA, Kids Ministries, Women's and Men's Groups, Worship Services, Community out Reach (so much more) - Sunday Services ( 9am, 1030, Noon, Spanish Services, Nepalese Service) So many ways to be involved and loved. 6. With my parents serving in the mission field for over 30+ years and counting, I had plenty of exposure to Jesus and the Bible. Many years of existential crisis and trying to find meaning in life, distanced me from Christianity. But many years later, after series of undeniable events, I decided to fully commit my life to God. Since then, I have been trying to find a church I can be a part of (ideally one that resembles the church in Acts 2:42-47) with not much luck. Then in the process of church hopping and referrals from peers, I came across Emmanual Reformed Church. Since day one, with the pastors, staff, congregation, and especially the Tuesday Night Couples Group, I found that very church! Children's ministry, adult ministries, weekly gatherings, Sunday worship, sermons, pretty much everything I have been a part of and witness to, I can't pinpoint anything but awesome things to say about this Church. It truly is an annointed church with leadership showing what it means to be servant leaders and show examples of living out what they preach. I often don't write Yelp reviews but Emmanuel Church has been life changing to our family and would like to share with others our experiences. Emmanuel Church has taught us how to build a relationship with God and we were welcomed as we are. It is a safe place to ask questions and learn. We thank Pastor Ken for everything he does, he is an asset to the church and community. Emmanuel Church gives back to the community through their Emmanuel Arts, Date Nights, Events, and much more. They meet each individual where they are without judgement while encouraging their walk with Christ. This is a great place to build a community with others who are also working on their relationship with Christ. They have many groups, online resources, podcasts and classes to support your journey. It is a diverse church and we have always felt welcomed. The sermons are always inspiring, at times having guest speakers and they have service for English and Spanish speakers. The atmosphere is great ! The church is kept clean, you have greeters that are happy and welcoming. Their music before and after the sermon is always uplifting. We enjoy their willingness to provide prayer for those who request it after service and online. Emmanuel also has the option to see their service online if you're sick or traveling and accessible to anyone across the globe! Absolutely LOVE this church. The people love God and love each other. My wife and I started attending in March 2022. Upon our second visit pastor Ken and Mike knew us by name. We felt immediately welcomed. I have learned and grown so much since getting involved in Couples ministry, and Thursday night men's group, and being invited and encouraged to Read it, Write it, Pray it , Share it. Emmanuel Reformed Church has been a home away from home for my family and I. We are always made feel welcome and a part of the family. I have attended couples ministry with my husband, which has made such a positive difference in our marriage. My husband also attends men's group and has found support and a community of brothers that he can lean on. Pastor Ken always takes the time to have a conversation with our children and shares words of encouragement, which they look forward to every Sunday. My family found this church after searching for months. We felt like it was home the first day we walked into the doors and pastor Ken welcomed us. They even left fresh baked cookies on our porch that night! My kids have loved Sunday school, VBS, Edge and. Rock. I spent the first 15 years of my "adult" life chasing happiness through excessive drug abuse. After many times in jails, rehabs and eventually prison, I still could not stop destroying myself. My family and I have attended Emmanuel Church for about 20 years now. I stay because we get sound teaching from the pulpit straight from the B.I.B.L.E. The church has various options to attend, accommodating those who work late, ones who have sports activities etc. What I love most is how personable and genuine the pastors are they greet everyone after every service. Also, I love how the church looks like what Heaven, is going to look like. The congregation is multi-cultural all different races and faces. I attend the noon service and I love it. Emmanuel has been my home church for almost 20 years. It's a place that won't "round the edges" of the gospel just to appease what society deems correct with that said, they are biblically sound. They do make all efforts to live out the scriptures as a congregation and encourage everyone to do so in their life outside of church also. I don't recommend going to the Young Adults here at this church because of the way they have treated me they didn't really hear my side of the story and even though I was hurting from dealing with my family they wanted to just kick me out and want me to go to another women's ministry or their celebrate recovery ministry and fix myself first before I can go to Young Adults and that's not right that's not how you treat your brother or your sister when they are hurting read more

This church has blessed our family so much! When we started searching for a new church last year, we instantly felt welcome here. We love the preaching and teaching, the worship is wonderful, and the community is loving and service-oriented. There is great emphasis on being "blessed to be a blessing" and the church lives it out as they/we focus on loving God and others around us. With young kids we especially appreciate the kids' program where our kids feel comfortable and loved. We have found great community in the couple's ministry and greatly appreciate the cheap childcare for Saturday night date nights. ($12 per kid for 4 hours!) My husband has been transformed by joining the Thursday night men's group. He is reading his Bible daily for the first time and has found amazing accountability and friendship in his group. We love the cultural diversity at Emmanuel and we love the rituals like singing the Doxology at the end of every service. God is certainly honored in this place and moving in and through its people. read more

What can I say! At only 5 mins away from my house , my family and I love Emmanuel Church . Summer of 2019 when we first started coming here and I knew my family and I had found our church . I just love that Emmanuel opens the doors to anyone, no matter your background, race . They truly welcomes you with open loving arms . What I love so much is that there are so many programs that's catered to every person age so you are involved with church / activities. I was looking for a smaller church that had more of community involvement and from the beginning the people at Emmanuel were welcoming and loving. I'm so grateful for this church! I grew up in this city and have watched this church be a positive impact. I can worship freely, however I feel comfortable. Each service is a bit different, and I like each one for different reasons. There's a couple services in spanish also, and another in Nepalese. My favorite part is how many groups they have for all ages, kids to the elderly, plus FREE childcare for the many of the groups. www.erc.la I had been church hopping for several months when a friend invited me to this church on a Thursday night for "Connect." My life has been on an amazing journey since then. If you are a reborn christian (or simply interested in exploring your relationship with God in a positive environment which fosters spiritual growth)... and you have been to churches that dont accept you, are clique-ish, pass judgements on you, and spend more time trying to convert you than helping you... dont throw in the towel just yet: try out this place. Thursday nights at 7pm, they do Connect in the red building across the street. The room is small, intimate, and decorated by Ikea and some of the artist in the church who made some cool paintings. Its a 18-30something crowd who sing with a live band and then spend time fellowshipping and praying with one another. Some chick that goes there always brings something delicious and homemade to snack on (bless her heart). It's like therapy... but free. Sundays they have several services throughout the day in both Spanish and English. The pastors are hillarious. The messages are scripture based and multi modal, with real life applications. And the choir is AMAZING! Sunday nights I attend a Lifegroup. The church has several lifegroups, but I like mine. Its also AMAZING! I meet with people in my age group who are all on their own spiritual journies. We eat, sometimes watch movies or BBQ at a park. Most importantly, we read from the scripture. I'm an english major, so I enjoy a good close reading of anything. It's like a book club... except the focus is God... and eternal salvation. :o) I love this church for many reasons, but to summarize: it changed my life, has positive people who live by the word and dont just preach it, it has a crowd more my age, has a great ability to motivate people to want to help themselves and others, and it has a lot of different activities that you can become involved in (connect, lifegroups, retreats, mission trips, compton clean up days, oasis...). I dont know about you... but for something thats free... sounds like an AMAZING deal to me. read more

I found Emmanuel Reformed Church through a Google Search. I know it's hard to believe but yes that's me... I search for everything on the internet, including God. Anyways, Google led me to their website www.erc.la and I listened to a sermon online. I was moved. Being somebody who has been to all sorts of churches orthodox, catholic, baptist, presbyterian....etc. This was the first sermon that I ever felt was relevant to me, to my life. So I went the following Sunday to the noon service. The first thing I noticed was the noon service choir. They sang such powerful songs and the music touched my heart. I just started bawling. The whole service I cried. I don't know why. I just was so relieved to find a church I liked, I loved... it just felt like home. After the service was over, I walked up to the choir and asked if I could join. I've sang in choirs since I was a child and just from that first time listening to them, I felt I needed to be a part of it. I've been at Emmanuel Church for over 2 years now. Through the church a lot of good has happened to my husband and I. We've taken classes on Debt Management, Marriage, Learning about God (Alpha), Learning about becoming a member of the church (Journey)... and many others at Emmanuel. If you're looking for a place that is relevant to you and a place you can really get involved, Emmanuel is definitely that. Emmanuel takes the time to develop the community around them with the classes, the charity, and the love they offer. If you're unsure after reading this review about what you want to do or where you want to go to church. That's fine. I was too. Take a few minutes to listen to a sermon online or drop by on a Sunday to get a glimpse of what it's about. I love this church! I loved it the minute I walked in it's doors a few years ago. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the nicest people, they shook my hand and one little old lady even gave me a hug! I felt like I was back home at my grandma's house. I had visited other churches before and I would always leave feeling like "Did anyone know I was even there?" I most certainly didn't feel that here. Even the pastor talked to me afterwards. When I went back the next week, he remembered me!!! BY NAME!!! and welcomed me back. I knew I had found the right place. Little Sister goes to this church and i drop off little brothers for the youth week night services. It's a pretty chapel with stained glass windows. Emmaunel has lots of services, loads of extra groups and is uber involved in the community. If you've never been go to the noon service. Its from 12:00-1:30pm. Or you can always voluteener for the Compton/Paramount clean up days. They're like every 3 months and are awesome! Free breakfast and you spend the morning painting, planting, etc. read more

27 years, that's how long I've been at this church. If you want to be welcomed into a community of Christians then this is the place for you. The pastors here make it a mission to know you on a personal level and pray with/for you if ever you need it. I go to this church because it focuses on how I can apply scripture to my daily life. They also have a cry room for babies and parents with over eager children which allows for a great view of the congregation and patch a video feed into the room so you don't miss out. ERC also has a newly remodeled nursery, a daycare, and playground for the little ones. They have a fantastic selection of programs for children, middle school, high school, young adults, couples, men, and women. I am not a church going person, but every year on Halloween they line up in their parking lot and hand out candy to loads of kids. They do this for the community, and it is one of the best things ever. The people are super nice and very caring they are never pushy, they of course encourage you to attend a service or two, but they don't push anything on you. It is really good to see such caring people come together for fun and enjoyment of their community. Thank you, All of you for your time and love. If you like mindless worship and prayer, you will love this church. If you like catholic mass, but aren't catholic, you will love this church. I found the scripted prayer, and the designated times when the congregation is allowed to join in singing very controlling, causing the words that were being said to be non genuine. I'm not opposed to tradition, but I am opposed to ritualistic worship. I'm surprised they consider their message as Reformed, since the Reformed church was built on the natural response to the gospel, and this church puts words in your mouth to pray. I left this church praying for the congregation, that they would be free to worship in spirit and in truth. read more

After "church hunting" for a church that I can call my own and not my parents, I was invited to Emmanuel by my friend. I have been here now 14 years and I call it home. They have something for every age group and there is always something going on during the week at different times so everyone can get plugged in and grow in their relationship with God. There are many services (9, 1015, 1030, 12 [english and Spanish] and 6 pm [english and Spanish]). It is also good to know that while a lot of people go to Emmanuel, the Pastor makes it a point to get to know your name and crazy enough to remember it the following week.. We've been praying to find the right church for us and I believe we have. As soon as you walk in you can feel God's presence. Everyone was so welcoming and kind to us. We have 2 small children so our main focus was finding a church with a strong childrens program and they have it!
