My experience with Empire Auto Protect has been extremely disappointing. After trading in my vehicle, I contacted Empire Auto Protect to cancel my extended warranty. I was told I would need to provide a copy of my bill of sale before they would process the cancellation. Because the trade-in documentation is embedded within my purchase contract and contains sensitive personal and financial information, I explained that I was not comfortable providing it and asked if there was an alternative form of verification. Instead of working with me to find a reasonable solution, I encountered customer service representatives and a manager who were rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. While I was simply asking questions about the company's cancellation policy, my calls were disconnected multiple times without resolution. Customers should be treated with respect, especially when asking legitimate questions about a contract they purchased. Requiring unnecessary documentation containing confidential information, combined with poor customer service, made this an extremely frustrating experience. Run from this place !!! I had a really disappointing experience with Empire Auto Protect. I paid for coverage for about a year, expecting to use it once my manufacturer warranty expired. When I called to ask about activating/using my coverage at that point, the representative instead told me my policy would be canceled and that I wouldn't be refunded for the time I had already paid. There was no clear explanation upfront that the coverage wouldn't work the way I intended, and no effort to resolve the situation fairly. I feel like I paid for something I never actually got to use. The salesman clearly told me that the Extended Warranty Policy would cover 50% of the cost, and that if the vehicle required engine or transmission repair, that it would cover 100% of the cost, which is untrue!!! First of all I was told that there was a$100.00 deductible. When I called about something I was told no, it's a 30/70 split. I was also told that I would pay one year and get a year free It's pay 2 years and get 1 year free. I sent an email asking to cancel and no response. I tried to call Thursday and Friday but they were closed and they close early on Fridays. I spoke with someone in sales and they said that if I call Monday morning they would refund my payment that came out on Saturday. They are closed over the weekend so there was no way to stop it. What a horrible experience with their AI sales bot who promised several things that weren't done. It promised to charge my account 4 days later for the billing cycle but then charged me immediately. It didn't send info as promised. It didn't show the right make and model of the car nor the right level of protection promised. When I finally received the info it was much less than was promised and cost more. When I called to cancel at first I was hung up after the person wanted to save the sale, then 3 more times I was passed to people trying to save the sale until I finally reached a guy named Eric who claimed to be a General Manager. He also fought with me for more info and finally claimed it was cancelled but I haven't seen anything in writing. Just the cancellation took 30 minutes. For every consumer who has been scammed by Empire Auto Protect, please contact the New York State Department of Financial Services and file a complaint. They are regulated under NYS Insurance Laws pursuant to Article 79. Do not do business with Empire Auto Protect before reviewing the complaints on the Better Business Bureau's website, Trusted Pilot, Consumer Affairs, and several other consumer sites. I purchased a warranty in October of 2024 for $2,900.00. I was setup on automatic bill pay. In June of 2026, I lost my debit card and my payment declined. Empire Auto contacted me about the declined payment and I advised them of the situation. On July 1, 2026 I provided my routing and account number to Empire Auto to process the missing payment. Empire did NOT process my payment and did NOT tell me I couldn't pay by ACH. Instead, they waited until July 6, 2026 to tell me again my payment didn't go through. I called with my new debit card and made the payment. A few days later, my car broke down and I tried using my warranty. Empire Auto told me I did not have coverage as my policy just started 4 days ago. I had paid $2,399.00 since October of 2024 and knew that was a lie. I downloaded their mobile app, created an account, and found that Empire Auto cancelled my previous contract that I had paid $2,399.00 towards and issued a new policy for $2,900.00 with no credit of the $2,399.00 that I had already paid. Empire Auto Protect also materially misrepresented the mileage on the new contract stating the vehicle only had 102,000 miles when it in fact had 120,000k. They also changed the terms on the policy to 36 months or 30,000 miles (also undercutting actual mileage by 18,000). So in actuality, their contract would have only covered 12,000 miles. These deceptive business practices must be reported to the proper regulators. This is unjust enrichment and fraud. Do not do business with Empire Auto Protect. This is a bait and switch company. 13 months into a 48 month contract this company just arbitrarily switched me to a much lower coverage and milage protection amount saying original protection plan was not available and there was nothing they could do about it. I would not recommend Empire Auto Protect based on my experience. I purchased two vehicle service contracts in Sept2025 and paid $6,400 upfront in good faith Oct2025, including paying both policies off early. After only a few months of use (March 2026), I requested cancellation and a prorated refund as outlined in the agreement. Instead, I was quoted approximately $399 with no clear explanation or written breakdown. When I requested documentation showing how my payments were applied and how the refund was calculated, I received vague responses and was directed to a third-party payment processor rather than being provided answers. As a matter of fact the response provided was, "there is no refund as the agreements were FINANCED". But the $6400 was paid in advance. What was being financed? At no point was I given a clear payment ledger or a proper prorated calculation. The lack of transparency and consistent communication has been extremely frustrating. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others against paying large amounts upfront. I don't know who uses Yelp! But maybe this will help someone. When I contacted the company, I was told that the warranty would fully cover the power train and other major components at 100%. However, when received the policy, it clearly states 40% up to $2,500. In addition, I was told there was a one-hundred percent refund if canceled within thirty days. I called to clarify and was told that it the forty percent was for other maintenance, contrary to the verbiage. I called another warranty company and received the proper coverage. Thus, I attempted to cancel the alleged warranty from Empire Auto Protect and was told that the cancelation department opened at 10 CST. At 10 CST, I again called and was told the Cancelation Department queue was full and I would get a callback. I waited three hours and called back when the no call was made to me. When I called, the customer representative told me that I could not cancel because I was dissatisfied with the product that was not what I was sold (bait-and-awitch). He stated that was not a good enough reason. When I asked him if customer satisfaction was not a good reason, then what was? He stated he didn't like my attitude and hung up. I called my financial institution to stop all future payments and dispute the last payment that was made. I then again called Empire to attempt canceling the warranty. The customer service representative asked me why and I told him it was already covered under another policy. He asked who and I replied Endurance. He lied and told me they were the same company. He stated that he would recommend that I should keep my Empire policy and he would cancel the more expensive Endurance policy. He also informed me that I had home coverage and that was due today. However, I never agreed to any such coverage. After getting nowhere with that rep, I received notice from my bank that Empire attempted a charge of $104.04, but it was blocked by the stop payment order. At 59,800 miles my car had multiple engine failures, which are all covered under said service warranty. These guys have given me the serious runaround while my car sits in the shop for six weeks. Very deceptive sales and customer service. They have an offer that if you pay for two years you get two more years free. I was reluctant and the sales guy said I'll give you a third year free if you say yes right now. Okay I accepted the 60 month plan and they billed me for the first month. I gave him the odometer reading and had him read it back to me. When I get the plan information booklet things didn't look right. First the cards had no company name on them. Very odd. I read the fine print and the plan a said 48 months, not 60. On top of that they recorded the odometer at more than 9,000 over. I told them I only put 4-5k @yr on this vehicle. Any claims would likely be denied because of mileage discrepancy. I called customer service. The CSR said he could see that my plan should be 60 months and asked for a photo of the odometer. Said it would be corrected and I would get a confirmation call and new contract asap. Ten days went by and no word back. I tried calling and lines were busy so I requested a call back. No callback! Days went by and I kept calling until I got somebody. CSR said they were denying the 60 months and that was my only option. I said cancel plan immediately and issue a refund. He said that he would do that. I saw a refund in my credit card and was pleased. Then after the plan was cancelled, they billed me for another month! First, they could not find my ID, my last name or VIN. The hung up on me! I called back and Richard was the same guy that answered, suddenly found my file. He said they changed software systems, but he found it and told me to have the service shop process the claim. I had a bumper to bumper warranty, which covered everything, 100%, no deductible. Now, they not only had problems finding my file and giving me the run around, they also denied the simple claim with the repair shop! For some reason, I thought I was ordering auto insurance from Endurance and ended up on the Empire Automotive website. I tried to place the order, but the AI voice said my card would not go through. I was also not prompted to enter my VIN number. I realized I had made a mistake in less than 24 hours. I contacted them and spoke with Ashley, explaining the situation and asking for a refund. Ashley transferred me to Jeffrey. Again, I explained the problem, and he denied that the company would have done that. I told Jeffrey the AI's lady's voice said my card did not go through, and to try another card. Knowing my card was valid and in good standing, I tried again and again, but was told my card did not go through. I told Jeffrey that because I was so frustrated, I hung up. And the next morning, I saw his company charged me, and I wanted to be reimbursed. He was now very annoyed and asked for my VIN so he could reimburse me. STAY AWAY. This outfit is super shady. As soon as payment was made over the phone when signing up for a policy, I received an email that was blocked by Gmail because it came through from an email spoofer. Not from a trusted alias. This made me suspicious. This initial email was supposed to contain an onboarding packet/explanation of coverage, but did not. I attempted to email the (likely fake) email address in the email and never got a response. After reading terrible reviews on the BBB and several other sources, everything in the reviews was lining right up. I had originally spoken with an alleged "Eric" who's caller ID actually showed as a different name. After taking payment, "Eric" was MIA and unable to be reached. Once the red flags were raised, I called to cancel. I was transferred to an extension that did not exist, so I called back. Again I was transferred to an invalid extension. I called a 3rd time and was told that "the department that takes cancellation is likely out to lunch and that is why they didn't pick up"....but, the extension was INVALID, so this was obviously a lie. I was told to call back in an hour. I did, then was told by Customer Service that management was going to reach out to me. Of course, nobody reached out. What I ended up doing was going to my bank and stopping payment and disputing based on being unable to make contact with Empire and cancel for refund, which they had stated was a no questions part of the deal for the first 30 days. The next day, for peace of mind, I called Empire to make sure they would cancel my policy. Immediately upon answering, I was greeted by a very rude and overly patronizing person on the other end of the line.
