Here's my honest review. I wish there was a different company to choose. The fact there is only one company I have to use is astounding. I have had many issues using this company over the past year and a half. Sometimes when I pay my electric bill online, the statement amount wouldn't be removed and when I checked it weeks later it would cause me to double pay. I have to come inside to pay my bill now and the last time I came to pay, the man at customer service said I had a late bill to pay as well. I know I pay my bills on time every month so this was shocking. Upon further explaining, he pretty much couldn't give me a reason why it was late but just said it was late, even though I know I pay my bills on time. I have no idea. These are just a few recent problems I've encountered and not everything. The customer service is usually nice and they try to be helpful but when it comes to the actual company itself and not the employees, I'd pick just about anything else. read more

Wright tree service is contracted by Empire Electric in Joplin, MO. Last night they entered my yard on behalf of Empire Electric to cut down tree limbs from around power lines. They did this around 9am at NIGHT without knocking on my door and letting us know they were entering my domain. In the mean time, they left my gate open and my dog got out! Our puppy of 7 years has now been missing for 24 hours and NO ONE from this company gives a darn. 0 empathy. Empire's rules and regulations state that they EMPLOYEES of empire have a right to enter your domain during DAYLIGHT seasonal hours. They broke both of those rules by sending a CONTRACTOR out to enter my yard at NIGHT!. I have 1 word for you guys........... KARMA! It is real and it will bite you in the tail. $410 deposit whoa, just to start service. Was based off of previous tenants bill. They told me the deposit was 2 times the last bill of my new apartment. Why would you base my deposit off of how much electricity the previous tenant used. That's a big bill if they used $205 a month worth of electricity. Now since I am the new tenant I have to suffer and pay a deposit based off of how much they used? What the heck. Just sounds stupid to me. But that's exactly how they explained it to me. read more

Worst Electric company I have ever dealt with, the customer service I have to say is the worst part of everything. Very rude entitled ladies working there! My account online reads something different than what they say when you call in. I called in to let them know I made a payment on my bill at the store because I didn't see if on my online account that I made it. After she took my receipt info and the amount I paid. She is like well you have 276 more or you will be disconnected today. I was why, my bill just came out and isn't even due yet. Because I was past due with my last months bill they are making me pay my current bill to avoid disconnection and also told me I couldn't set up a Payment arrangement. But online it allows me to set up a payment arrangement and it also even says my disconnection date won't be till the end of the month. So now I have a rude lady threatening to turn my electric off while I am setting up a payment arrangement online and it was approved. As a customer care rep at the T-Mobile call center I know what it's like to work in this kind of business, I know if my boss pulled some of these calls from this company we would be fired!!! I guess that's why T-Mobile is #1 is customer service because we actually care.. Being that this is a electric company you guys should definitely care even more being that people's everyday lives. We depend on our electric and we also want a supportive person to speak with when we are calling in. Point I wish I had more options with electric companies.. It sucks you get stuck with the company and have no other options. read more

So I moved into a new place, they sure can give me a week worth of headache because it's a special account and my first night here with toddlers show up at 9 am to cut off power because the tenant before left a huge bill. Three hours and 4 phone calls later I make a payment and I'm stuck waiting until tomorrow for a 5 minute job. What a joke. This company runs a monopoly in the southwest mo area. read more

Is there an option to post a review less than one star???? To put service in my name the accounting dept forced my deposit to be based off of the LAST TENANT'S PAYMENT HISTORY! Someone I was not related to at all but they would not consider turning service on for me and my children until the PREVIOUS TENANT'S PAST DUE bill was paid!! If I wanted service in my name for my rental, I was required to pay someone else's bill! How is this legal????? read more

They estimated my electric bill $60 higher than its ever been. I understand it's hotter this month but I also pointed out to them that compared to previous months where I had 3 adults and baby I have 1 adult and a baby. When I asked if they would come out and read the meter and get an actual read they refused saying they didn't have time. They refused to set up payment plans and the lady was very rude and said I could email a picture of my meter in but it was estimated lower than what it usually runs at my address this time of year. I tried to explain that we've not lived here during the summer that the previous people had about 5 adults here by seeing the different names on the mail that we were still getting the first month we moved in. read more
