I absolutely love old truck stops and truck stop food. Monday night myself and a friend decided to try Hoods. The food was amazing. The waitress Jackie was awesome. Very bubbly,kind and knowledgeable of the menu. Will be back soon to try the pie. read more

Personal, friendly, fun service that was also attentive. Waitresses all worked as a team helping each other's customers and interacting with everyone. Noticed that the minute the cook rang the bell and put food up in the window, someone was there getting it!! Got here about 6pm for dinner. Had potato skins for an appetizer and they were hot and perfectly cooked. Chicken fried steak wasn't overly breaded and was crispy, good thick gravy. The spinach omelette was also cooked perfectly and loaded with all the stuff it was supposed to have. Good coffee as well. Not sure why so many people seem to have bad things to say about this place.... we had been in our truck all day and this was more than a welcoming break for an hour before we got back truckin' And as far as the inside needing a facelift...why??? Sadly, Hood's with such towering neon signage and great location could be a fabulous independent restaurant. Instead, it is a mere shadow on the pavement from its once glory days. The interior needs a complete upgrade and renovation. It's dated and there is no rhyme or reason to the decor. The staff as well as many of the patrons look like they could be cast members from the movie Deliverance. The cheeseburger I had wasn't very good. The fries were greasy, bland and under cooked. If somebody with a little bit of ingenuity, drive and determination they could resurrect this hopeless past example of Americana, it would be super. Create a new image, make tasty dining happen again. Word will spread, people will come as this place could be a gold mine. Get to work! read more

Quite a few pumps, but big enough to call a truck stop? Questionable. It's not a full on T.A. But there is room for big rig parking. No worries though, cause you can still bring a big rig through to fill with all the snacks and supplies they have to offer which are extensive. Clean restrooms and reasonably priced gas make this a good place to stop. read more

EZ parking, lots of space, well stocked with food, snacks, and drinks. All of the staff were very friendly. Everything was well cleaned though a bit old like me ; ) BUT in a good way. Showers were well cleaned and towel service was excellent. I splurged and ate dinner enjoying the cat fish, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I came back at 4:30am for breakfast and had a delicious short stack of excellent pancakes and an omelette that couldn't be beat. Chuck's breakfast will last me through a second meal as it was to much to handle in one sitting and to delicious to think about leaving behind. Christy took care of my order and I enjoyed talking with Christy and Chuck as I ate my meal and passed time waiting for my morning dispatch. If you're looking for the classic truck stop portrayed in every movie this is it! The waitresses call you all the endearments, the plates are HEAPED with delicious food for a fair price, country music drifts out of the kitchen and the entire place is about twenty years behind the times. However as lacking as the decorations are, the food makes up for it in spades. Check out the book trading shelves in the restaurant, take a Crichton, leave a Clancy or whatever you prefer. There's plenty of parking in the back for trucks and RVs. Easy in and out for the fuel lines and the convenience stores are well stocked regardless of time of day you visit. For semi trucks it's FULL SERVICE! Yes you read that right the attendants fuel your truck and wash your windshield for you. There's a tire and small repair shop on site as well. Restrooms are clean and fair sized as well. There's a hotel on the grounds as well for autos and motorcycles or the driver that needs a night away from the truck. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on the road and it is clean with no flies. The service was fast and pleasant and the food was all good. We had several breakfast items but the star was the Brioche French Toast. If you are in the area you can't go wrong here. read more

If i could give this place a NEGATIVE number of stars - i would! I am here for the week for the truck driver refresher course. This is the ONLY place to eat within walking distance. Lunc is from 11 am to 12 pm. I walk in sometimes at 1045 am and order by 11 am .... the cook is TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLY SLOW, TERRIBLE QUALITY OF FOOD Today i ordered at 1050 am but did not get my food until 1155 am...WTF!!! Bow i have to "shovel" it in and get back to class. Not to mention this cook can screw up a wet dream! Everything- all week- was overcooked. No matter what i ordered was $13 - MINIMUM (breakfast, lunch or dinner) ... SO GLAD I AM LEAVING TODAY.. Great food for the price. The wait staff was very prompt and friendly. I've been here 3 times and all 3 times the experience was excellent.

Used to be great, but something has happened. for one, the prices were scratched out of the menus, and much higher prices written in, Asked for one type of omelets, got another, because the waiter wasnt paying attention. Also asked for unsweet tea, because I am diabetic, got sweet tea. not at all worth the $30, we spent, they must have switched suppliers, because the food isnt good quality as is used to be. do yourself a favor, if you're going to drop $30 bucks, try Denny's at least the food will be decent quality, Hoods used to be the best on I 44, now its the absolute worst. read more
