Here's the good news- they can put carpet down correctly. Here's the bad - the vinyl they put down started coming up and apart. Not the end of the world, it happens. The issue is they wanted to charge me more to fix it even though I had gotten an extended service plan which they did not honor. Their customer service involves long wait times, lots of AI bots, and not much resolution. I was even willing to buy more planks from them and fix it myself and call it a day but they weren't even willing to do the bare minimum. Shame on you, Empire! I recently had engineered hardwood installed in 3 areas. Two months later, it had buckled In a guest bedroom. All along there were issues with the installation. When I attempted to resolve what I didn't like with the installer, he only said "that's how we do it". I was left with the task of repairing baseboards, replacing transition strips, cleaning and staining. I called to have them come out and look at the buckling. They scheduled an appointment and left a message the day before saying they would like to reschedule. I would not recommend this company. If I could give it negotiate stars, I would. read more

Let me start with we are a repeat customer. Used them in our home 9-10 yrs ago. No issues! With that said we are not happy! Salesman came out on 3/25. We scheduled our LVP install Saturday 3/30 and Carpet install for 4/1. Saturday things were going smooth until they tell me they are 2 boxes short to finish our guest bathroom. It was measured so why are we short? This is unacceptable so we have to schedule ANOTHER install. On 3/28 I get a call saying they won't have enough carpet for the 4/1 install. This was a big job. Our home is 2705 sq ft. They came out in 4/1 and did what carpet they could. We still need our guest room, loft area and a kids room completed. Today is 4/6 and it's almost 4pm. I got a call at 730am saying our carpet had been picked up, but there was a service call before ours. At 3 PM my husband called the salesman we dealt with who said he would look into it. We still haven't heard anything from him so my husband called the phone number that called me at 7:30 AM. (+1 (800) 588-2300). They claim they cannot reach the installers. So we are left wondering if anyone is still going to show. I stayed home for this install while my husband drove to his parent's home 3 1/2 hrs away to see the Eclipse. I am beyond frustrated. Now will they show on Monday 4/8 to finish our guest bath? I have my adult child waiting at the home in the morning for them to show. I told them I needed a morning schedule because she has to be at work at 2 PM. If they don't show before she leaves not my fault. I'm not taking off of work for them to not show. They placed carpet in my dining room, left huge gaps in-between the wall and carpet in 4 rooms, ran out of laminate and didn't make carpet or laminate flush around toilet hosing or baseboard heating. They had to come out to redo things twice as of right now. Also the new baseboard transition they placed looks like complete shit! Had our floors installed in 2021, now the floor is separating from each other and also lifting up. Was told there was no seperation that should occur and that the floor was scratch proof and water proof. paid a ton of money for upgraded floors only to have them lift up and separate from each other. Really unhappy with this whole experience. The install team did not do a great job and I purchased the warranty because I have kids and they are rough on floors. Well. I now need to use the warranty and they do not have any of my flooring in stock anywhere. It has been discontinued 5 months after I purchased it. Tried calling and reaching out to everyone I have numbers for at the company and they do not pick up. Absolutely horrible customer service. I now have 40 SQFT in my home that I do not know what to do with because my whole house is this vinyl plank. Call me Empire. The installation date for my 6 areas of flooring was to be 9/22/23. It is 9/27/ 23 and I am still looking at the drab carpeting I was to have replaced 5 days ago. Carpet was in and loaded with installers who needed to make a stop before coming to my job. After many conversations with customer service, at 6:15 the installers said they couldn't make it. They had trouble with equipment. But they would come next day at 9;00 am. 8:00 am, was informed they had to go finish a job. It's 9/27 and still no updated contract or installation of carpeting. This company is a sham. They do work half-a.. purchased new flooring on a Saturday and installed (partially) Thursday. Installers told us Thursday they didn't have all the items needed to complete job in stock. No estimated day was available. We called and the lady on the phone had no answer when they product was coming in. For 4 weeks our house was a mess from moved furniture not knowing when supplies was coming. Lady in office wouldn't return calls or answer our calls (our number on caller Id) unless we called from another phone line. After waiting 4 weeks the supplies came in and installation completed. The quarter rounds look horrible and are starting to come off wall. After this mess was completed the company never checked with our satisfaction. They just took their money and ran. The floors turned out fine, but there was other issues that we weren't anticipating. When they came to install, they told us the pedestal sink in our bathroom was a problem and they couldn't install the floor until we removed the sink or hired someone else to remove it. The workers disconnected all of our appliances, moved them, and then reconnected them when the floors were finished. However they didn't re-attach the dishwasher (just 2 screws), didn't attach the dryer vent properly, and switched the hot and cold water lines on our washer. We asked them to come back to move the washer and dryer out to fix the connections and they told us they'd bill us to come out and move the appliances again, and that they weren't supposed to touch the water lines anyways. We had to move the washer and dryer on their pedestals which was a huge pain in the butt, fight with the connections, making myself bleed in the process, and then move the appliances back. They should have come back and corrected their mistakes. read more

Would not recommend this company to anyone! The salesman is there forever before he finally gives you a price which is not a sale price at all - they did come down when I complained about that - the only reason we went with them was because they had the wood flooring in stock, other wise it was months wait with other companies at the time. We had wood flooring installed and the installers,who are contracted out, used some pieces down that had cracks in them or ragged edges when they should have put those to the side as there was more then enough ordered. Overall, it does not look bad but they should have been more detailed oriented. This was the worst experience ever!!!! The guy who came out to sell me the floor was nice and knowledgeable. The crew who installed the floor were subcontractors. They were late and communication was poor. They started the job then left abruptly for about an hour and half. They left one crew member behind who laid on my floor and video chatted the entire time the crew was gone. I asked him what was going on and he informed me he didn't speak English. I then I had to call Empire and they were able to translate. The crew member said they would be back soon ?????? They finally finished installing the floor around 9-10pm (they arrived around 3pm, they only had about 200 square feet to do). The floor is not level and in some places it is squishy. So, I phoned Empire, because you know there is supposed to be a lifetime warranty. Don't believe this. They came out to look at the floor and informed me that floors will naturally have give!!!!! He said they would not be redoing the floor. None of the tiles are lifting. He tried to tell me the problem is my floor joists. So for amusement, I called out a specialist to inspect them, and of course just like I thought NOTHING is wrong with my floor joists or subfloor. They both are in good shape. DO NOT waste your money with these people. Their salesmen are pushy, they refuse to give you a breakdown of each charge, you don't get a choice for padding. Their $50 for each other room is for "select flooring" but won't tell you what it is. When you tell them it's not the right carpet, they pretty much force you to take it then say that you agreed to it. If you correct them they will call you a liar. Even their corporate reps do the same thing. We were told they could always call 30 minutes before arrival, the hardwood flooring guys did, the carpet people did not, they just showed up. They send crews out that you can't communicate with because they did no speak ANY english! I had to call and get someone to interpret for us just so we could communicate! HORRIBLE business! I would not recommend Empire to anyone!! Now the person I set up my install was great up until she wasn't!! After telling me I could contact her at anytime, even after the install, I contacted her and have waited 4 days for a call back! My install was scheduled for the Saturday before new year's by Marissa , which was fine. This was set up on that Monday or Tuesday. I get a call after 6pm Friday stating that they we no available for Saturday because of the holiday, like it just popped up! This after I had scheduled off work to be there! I talked to corporate, as I was going to cancel. However, I was given a discount and rescheduled for the following Saturday. I get a call that morning from the installer that they were on the way but I still owed $1400! Mind you, payed in full the first day I scheduled!! And it was written at the bottom of the contract!! Call customer service and they could not find it!! Call marissa who knew about it and finally got it fixed! Well, the installers showed up at around noon, did a little work and went to lunch at 1!! Got back around 2:30, some more work then announced that the had to leave at 4!! Really?! The manager called me and advised me that they would be back Sunday morning at 8, which became 9:15! I will say that they stayed until they finished and did a good job!! Well now I find that my discount was cut in half because I had to "pay " for the other part of my install!! I am not happy with the installation or customer service. I had two bathroom floors installed. First bathroom the vent was not replaced, I was told that the new flooring height was the cause and I needed to buy a new one. ??? Seems like an install problem to me. There was no problem with the vent in the second bathroom however I noticed later that day that two of my baseboard wall tiles were cracked . It has been over a week since the install and I have called, emailed, left voice-mail and no one has contacted me. I am very disappointed with this company. Do not hire them! They "forgot" the hardwood they didnt relize until after they had already pulled everything up and it was only sub floor. I could not urge customers to stay away from Empire Today, more. I'll just lay down what our experience has been like so far. I should have realized that something bad was about to happen, when they called and said they would be at our home in one hour. However, they would show up four hours later. Yet, that's just the beginning. First, they put in the wrong carpet in two of our rooms. The form they showed me at the time of installation, said that it was the carpet we ordered. Secondly, the carpet was supposed to be put in place by an adhesive, and not tacked into the floor. They tacked it in the floor. Additionally, we requested that they leave space around our side door. They brought the carpet all the way to the door, and now we cannot use our side door without using great effort to force it open. Lastly, I asked the installer to use a silver trim where the carpet meets the tile. They used a gold trim. When we called into the customer support line, they were beyond unhelpful. At first, they blamed us and said "Well that's why we say to watch them while they do it". I believe it is unreasonable for me to sit there for several hours, watching people work. I'm not a carpenter, I assumed I was paying a company to do what I paid them for. Their customer service has never been proactive in calling us. Eventually, they would call us back, after we opened several cases because of the lack of response. Four days after we opened our first request, they finally told us two things. 1) This has happened before, because the colors were so close. 2) They didn't have the adhesive yet, so we would have to wait for any corrections to be made. Right there, they are saying they already weren't prepared for our original install date. When we asked them about the holes in the floors under the carpet, the manager on the phone said "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it." To that, I say; We're at that bridge now and we have been for a week now. Finally, over the phone they said they would come the next Saturday, 11/3/2018. Two weeks, after the initial install. However, they "couldn't" give us a verification email or number. So who knows if and when they will be coming. When we asked to be part of the email chain, to make sure the proper people were being included, another manager said, "We don't have email that can go to customers." There is no way that is possible. We posted a comment on their Facebook (FB) page on Friday (11/26), which they responded that they found our case in their system, and that they would call us on Monday. Well, between then (10/29/2018) and now they have erased that post. They have not called us either, which we knew they would not, per their prior lack of response. *UPDATE: They called us after my wife reposted on FB. However, still no actual verification. On FB, they said Saturday 11/2. However, 11/2 is a Friday, so we said that's why we want a verification. I ask you (the consumer), to seriously consider if you want to use this company. After my own experience, and reading through several others. If everything goes perfectly, then things are fine. However, if there is anything that needs corrected, it will take everything you have to get them to correct it....if they even will. To those at Empire, you will not find a case under my name, as it is under my wife's name (different last name). You have her number, so you can contact us. The day of the appointment I got a call about my address- I gave them it a second time. After a couple of hours I called to see how it went and was told they never showed. I called empire today and was told it was canceled due to wrong address. I told them I had verified and someone was waiting for them. I was put on hold and then disconnected. I called back and was told the soonest someone could come out was in 2 weeks! I asked to speak with manager . I didn't even get to the point of doing business with this company before they had me infuriated. We had scheduled an in-home consultation with them in response to a large sale they had going on. The day of the consultation we had gotten a bit of snow and we received a call from the person who was supposed to come see us. He proceeded to talk us out of their service (probably because he didn't want to drive in the snow). First he asked us if we were aware of all the fine print on the sale they were having because, according to him, there were "a lot of catches and fine print" and he doubted we'd be happy with the final price. We told him we wanted him to give us an estimate anyway as they were our first estimate. He asked the approx sq. footage and told us it would be at least $3 a sq foot in additional (installation, services, misc) charges if we purchased and then said "Does that shock you? Do you think that's too much for you to pay now?" At this point we were starting to get a little weirded out by this guy, but said we'd still like an estimate. He then said that he suggests we get other companies to provide estimates first, then call them last. So we said, fine, nevermind, don't come... we we pretty irritated with this. We also called the main office and removed ourselves from the schedule. The next day, we received 3 phone calls from Empire asking us to schedule a new appointment. The first two occurred 45 minutes apart and we told them both that we weren't interested and would call if we changed our mind. The last call came at 9:00 at night!! How calls at 9:00 at night? This time we said to stop calling us entirely. We're waiting to see if more calls come. So basically, their sales rep is encouraging us to not use their service because of high prices and fine print and their call center is rude and won't stop calling. They come to your house and assist you with what you want to purchase in the color and style you want. I was looking for LVP flooring for our home. I received reminder emails and text before my appointment which was fine. My sales person showed up on time. The problem I have with this company is first, the samples she brought were approximately 8x8 inches in size. I'm sorry, but you can't tell what the floor is going to look like on a sample that small. I told her that and she pulled out her cell phone to show me pictures. Uh, no. Pictures on a 5x6 phone aren't going to do it either. So, then I asked her who the manufacturer of the flooring is. She said she didn't know. Maybe Shaw or Mohawk. She didn't know for sure. So, I had told her I was interested in the sale they were advertising and they only had two choices for me. Stating that not "everything " was on sale. And on top of that, she only brought in a total of 4 samples to choose from. I asked if she had anything else. She said "oh, my trunk is full of samples" but she never offered to show them to me. So,,,now comes the price quote. Holy smokes! 530 square feet was going to cost $5700.00. Including installation. Now, that was for the top end stuff but really? Now I have been researching flooring for a month, going to stores, looking at samples , talking to the sales people about the product. No way was I ever quoted a price that high. I explained that to her and she said that they stand behind all their work with the best warranty out there. So, I asked her if she could do any better on the price and she said no. So, after she left, I researched them on Yelp. Whoa! There are about 95% more negative comments than positive! The comments were from the whole process of dealing with them. One of the comments stated that there was no way the product they installed was the same product they sold them. And I had called her back before hand and made a better deal on the price, because I just wanted to be done. And I found a color I really liked. But after reading the yelp reviews, yeah, no. So, wait, I'm not done. The next day I received a call from empire regarding how my meeting went. I explained everything. They were sorry to hear that but if I would give them a try they were sure to give me good service. Nope. I hung up. The Next day, got another call. Same kind of call. STAY AWAY AND DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY (Columbus, OH area office), AT ANY COST!!! They promised install of both LVP and carpet, which were both postponed on the mornings they were scheduled, costing us a week of vacation time in a completely upturned home. When they finally started the install, it had to be postponed again because they wanted nearly $2K more because the salesperson failed to properly account for necessary materials and the carpet installer wanted $5K CASH before they would begin even though the entire purchase had been financed (a completely unethical shakedown after the sale). After fighting through that, we were advised by the installers that an extremely excessive amount of one type of trim and carpet were ordered (at our cost), but not enough of the necessary trim, so it would have to be ordered and installed later. After WEEKS of phone calls, text messages and attempts to contact the salesperson, her supervisor, or anyone to discuss the situation, we are repeatedly run around on the customer service line and are still trying to get not only our complaints addressed but our installation completed. And don't even think about going there in person - the address online/Google for this office, is VACANT, and when I asked customer service for a correct location I was told CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ABLE TO GO TO THE OFFICE, ALL INTERACTION IS DONE THROUGH THE NON-EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. This is not only a very nefarious way to do business, but also a HUGE RED FLAG that they know their business practices are extremely questionable. We should have done our homework better, as they have COUNTLESS Better Business Bureau complaints for similar issues, and we are now left with no options except to go through the arduous task of litigation for remedy. I hired this company to replace an upstairs center hall with wood laminate flooring. It was completed efficiently and looked nice, but the installer dinged my wall with his tool-belt requiring me to repaint. I received another sales call, so I took the opportunity to show the upstairs wall to the salesperson. He measured and quoted me a cost for another floor that included a discount for the damage upstairs. The estimate he did was for the laundry room in my lower level. Four installers came to install the tile. They moved my washer/dryer and two cabinets through the hall onto my carpeted family room next to the laundry room. They did not cover their feet with protectors nor did they use a drop-cloth when moving items leaving a swath of adhesive footprints on my light beige family room carpet. I have been told by my salesman, the only person who answers calls from the company, that the sales manager will call and come to measure my family room to replace the carpet. I think the sales manager is a ghost and I will ask for the name and contact information of his/her supervisor (giving my salesperson the benefit of my doubt).
