Nothing much. Just gave a 5 star because it is a memorial of the people who have fallen from the muslim extremists.

First time visiting Empty Sky Memorial when it's not September 11- still a humbling and profound experience. This 9/11 Memorial honors the life's lost of New Jerseyans. In front of the Memorial are the steel beams from the Twin Towers. You walk through the slanted twin walls with engraved names that face towards Ground Zero to a beautiful NY skyline with the One World Trade Center. I have been here several times during the September 11 Memorial Services- Never Forget! Located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Parking on site. Open 24/7

Amazing spot. 1) One of the best 9/11 Memorial in NJ. The 9/11 Memorial at Weehawken, NJ is also amazing. But, the views of NYC, Jersey City and Liberty State Park makes this place a must visit. What an amazing spot. Great to relax on a nice day.

Cool spot to see and you can actually take a ferry to Manhattan if you wanted to. Empty Sky Memorial looks across the Hudson where you can see a few monuments dedicated to the World Trade. There's also an abandoned railyard, some great views of lower Manhattan, and free 2 hour parking for visitors (Anymore and you'll probably go to ferry parking for a few dollars for all day, which is way cheaper than Manhattan). You get a great view and two rectangular stainless steel walls on granite, which looks great and honors the 749 victims from New Jersey on what happened on 9/11. It's a very tasteful memorial reminiscent of the Vietnam War memorial in DC. Definitely a great spot to visit if you're entering NYC from the New Jersey side, or if you take the $7 one way ferry from southern Manhattan. Overall, beautiful and underrated spot to view NYC from. Can't really complain about it.

Well executed architectural memorial to those innocent victims murdered on 11 September 2001 by Islamic fundamentalist ideologue terrorists. Visually impressive and well thought out, this was our first visit here and it was long overdue. Used the opportunity to continue visiting nearby Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The photos don't capture fully the visual impression. Also showcases magnificent views of Manhattan and Governors Island. Highly recommended. Mahalo for reading my review.

An iron beam from twin towers is also kept here.

It is the official New Jersey September 11 memorial to the state's victims of the September 11 attacks on the United States. It is located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City at the bank of Hudson River across from the World Trade Center site. the two walls of this memorial stretch 208 feet & 10 inches long (the exact width of the World Trade Center towers). The name of each of the 746 victims is etched in stainless steel in these walls. The goal of this memorial is to "reflect the legacies of those whose lives were lost, that their unfulfilled dreams and hopes may result in a better future for society. The name of the memorial is taken from the Bruce Springsteen song "Empty Sky", which is about the "empty sky" where the towers once stood. An iron beam from twin towers is also kept here. At the time of sunset or sunrise, there is an arch of sunrays reflected between two walls and its really cool. If you are going to see the statue of liberty, don't forget to make a pit stop. its totally worth it. also, you can have a great Manhattan view from here. Parking: Parking is free for 2 hours just near to this memorial. another option is paid to park in the parking lot of Liberty ferry services.

On this gorgeous Sunday, my partner and I revisited this memorial located at Liberty State Park and dedicated to the 746 NJ state's victims killed on September 11 at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA. Directed towards Ground Zero, two 30-foot (9.1 m)-high rectangular towers transect a "gently sloped mound anchored by a granite path. The name for the memorial is taken from the Bruce Springsteen's song "Empty Sky" where the towers once stood. This is a must visit for anyone in the area. The park itself also offers great views of Lower Manhattan.

Very well done, makes you reflect. Logistics is tough if you do public transportation. We used the light rail and had to walk over a mile to get there and then walk back. If you have a car there is a parking lot.

Empty Sky Memorial is the 9/11 tribute in New Jersey. It's located in Liberty State Park. You can walk past when going to see the statue. It doesn't take very long. There are some good views. It's right off Audrey Zapp Drive. It's before you get to the main building. There are two pieces of metal from the World Trade Center. It also has two columns with names. The area behind that has some great views of New York. If you're going to the Statue of Liberty from the New Jersey side, be sure to see it. It's something to do while waiting for a ferry to come. This is right off the main road.

Located at the northern portion of Liberty State Park it is virtually right across the river from the Freedom Tower. You can park for free in Liberty State Park and walk along the 1.6 mile river boardwalk to the memorial. There are excellent views of lower Manhattan .An alternative is to drive to the memorial. The parking lot is also free and quite large with handicapped parking. The cruise terminal for Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty is just a quarter mile away, as is Liberty Science Center. Liberty State Park has playgrounds and other recreational areas with a great river boardwalk. The 9/11 Memorial is New Jersey's official memorial to the 749 victims who perished in the 9/11 attack. The names of the 749 victims are inscribed on the interior twin brushed stainless steel walls. The length of the wall is equal to one side of the former World Trade Center. Seeing the names and the Freedom Tower is a deeply moving experience, especially if you were directly touched by what happened on 9/11. As you walk along the granite path toward the Hudson river you will eventually see the Freedom Tower at Ground Zero in lower Manhattan. It is spectacular both day and night. At night they often shine two light beams into the air to symbolize the twin towers. If you are in the area for any of the other attractions it is well worth the stop.

Beautiful memorial! The area next to the memorial offers great views of New York City! There are lots of benches nearby in the shade if we want to sit and relax.

One of my favorite elements are the working lights on the inside left and right of the pool sculpture. Being that it's out of context - a recreational object in the middle of a commercial center - it creates a sense of longing and desire for recreation over industry and gives you an off-kilter feeling (why am I going to work when I could be swimming!). I walked up to the sphere and learned that it was originally installed as a decorative sculpture in the plaza between the Twin Towers, where it stood for decades as part of the everyday landscape of the complex. It was designed by German sculptor Fritz Koenig and was recovered from the debris after September 11, 2001. The damage it sustained is visible and extensive. The surface is buckled and torn in ways that make the destruction legible without any explanation, and that physical evidence is precisely what gives the object its weight. It is not a pristine monument. It is a thing that was present, that went through what happened, and that was pulled from the wreckage and placed back on display in the form it came out in. The park around it is thoughtfully arranged, with benches positioned to allow me to sit with the sphere and look out over the memorial pools and the site. The quiet of the space relative to the activity below made it easier to spend time with what I was looking at. A plaque provides context for visitors who are not already familiar with the history of the object. For anyone visiting the 9/11 Memorial, making the short walk up to Liberty Park to see the sphere in person adds a dimension to the visit that the memorial pools alone do not provide. It is a quiet, powerful stop that lingers with you after you leave.
