I've been regularly to this park and overall have really enjoyed it. We mostly go to play pickleball or tennis at the tennis center. You basically just call 2 days in advance to book and you get to play tennis or pickleball for free. The courts and super nice and well organized. We also walked around the park before where there is a nice fountain and sometimes a theme park with food available. Food is a bit overpriced but it's still cool to have it available in the area. Overall really glad to have this park around here! read more

Came here to play pickleball, and it's pretty clean and well maintained. I'd review the men's restroom near the courts as negative 10 stars since there's no soap and one of the urinals is busted, but I guess it could be worse. The reservations for the courts are free! They have a bunch of events here, I stopped by and saw some sort of fair with rides, fried Oreos and games. There's probably a good path for jogging, but it's a bit far from downtown Jersey City for me to jog here. read more

Lincoln park is a fantastic resource for the city! There are a lot of activities you can do here, from top notch tennis courts, nice paved walking and bicycling lanes, and a running track. And that is just in the first part of the park. Go over the bridge to access some more walking areas, athletic fields, a dog run, and a marsh nature walk. Sprinkle in multiple parking locations throughout the park and you really have a recipe for success with Lincoln park. I also should mention the beautifully restored fountain (which is fantastic), the nearby public golf course, several playgrounds, and a live music program during the summertime by the fountain. There is simply so much to do here, and it is much more convenient than LSP. read more

Must update my review as much has changed over the past 3 years. Beautiful water fountains, bike lanes, new running track, and renovated pond area are just some of the changes. I am so happy the mayor invested to clean up this park. Also FYI there is a hidden hiking path in the back of he park (I believe Lincoln Park West). Just be careful of flying golf balls. Beautiful park with lots of amenities in Jersey City! The park is home to me as I grew up in Jersey City and it was THE PARK where all parents take their kids to release their energy. I ran, hopped, jumped ropes, played hide and seek, played with the swing and slides here. I remembered there was a restaurant and casino inside the park. I also remembered President Abraham Lincoln statue on the entrance of the park on Kennedy Blvd. Over the years and more recent in the past ten years, renovations were made to the park and all for the better of course. I'm so happy to revisit the park not so long ago and the infamous statue is still there along with the water fountain, which always bring back the good memories. Besides the upgrades to the playgrounds, there's basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball and football field and running track. At times, there are events held at the park. Summers are always the best for bbq. read more

The best fountain in JC can be found here. The perfect park to come out for a walk with family or friends in the evening. There is no dirt or litter anywhere around, the people are friendly and is always patrolled by the Police. You can walk there worry free at night as well, due to the secure vicinity. I used to jog the track at Lincoln Park when I was younger and living in the area. It's a great place and is actually a pretty large park. Lincoln Park is in the West Side neighborhood in Jersey City and is cut into two sections by Route 1/9 (you can actually walk between the two on a bridge that goes over the highway). There are a lot of things that you can do at the park. It's got the track, cross-country course, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis courts, and handball spot. If you aren't into sports (I hear you), there are trails where you can walk and a dog run. The children can go to one of the playgrounds also. If you are a nature lover or conservationist, Lincoln Park is interesting with Edgewood Lake, preserved natural habitats, and nature trails. If you are an Audubon supporter/bird watcher, you may be lucky and spot Osprey or Black Skimmer. Plus, there's also talk about a wetland restoration project in the works. It's a great park. It's a bit of a trek from the closest PATH station (Journal Square), but you could probably get a little closer to the park by taking the bus (80) or light rail (West Side Ave stop). read more

It's been great to watch Lincoln Park transform. It's a testament to what can be done when city government is interested in restoration of its landmark properties. There's more to do surely, but it's a pleasure to see the good work so far. I run, bike and play racquetball here. I encourage new residents from the downtown area to make their way over to the westside and check this out... it's the largest hidden gem in Jersey City. I agree with other reviewers that policing the litter would help a lot... it's harder to enforce, but worth it... to have some plain clothed detectives in the park... or 'green police' (if there's such a thing...) Keep in mind that funds for these initiatives are limited and every dollar not spent picking up trash can go towards landscaping, security, lighting and fixing amenities like the bathrooms, etc. Remember that we can determine the kind of culture we want here... so when you visit the park, it's a good thing to greet people as you pass them in the park, it doesn't hurt anyone to simply say "good morning"... and be sure to say hello to both the parks & recreation staff as well as the police... that's what will really make the park a refreshing place... if we treat one another respectfully... Jersey City will soon get very crowded with all the development... trust me, you'll come to appreciate having a peaceful place to go like this. read more

My second favorite park in the world...also in Jersey City. It's nice to just drive around and do laps in this bad boy. I come here often and think about my mortality. It's the place where I learned how to ride a bike. So it's a good place to do that. There's tons of little places to just chill by yourself despite how many people can be in here at anyone time. My husband and I love Lincoln Park. It is huge, lush, and serves as a beautiful, local get-away in the Jersey City area. We particularly really like the dog park and go there often. It is spacious, well maintained, and has two separate areas for small dogs and larger ones. In the summer, there are kiddie pools, too, that you can fill up from the fire hydrant (located inside the park) to give the dogs a break from the heat. The ground is made of gravel and it can be challenging when it's snowed or rained because it can get a bit muddy and collect water, but really, we don't think it is that bad. The cool thing about the dog park is that it is surrounded by beautiful pathways so it is nice to walk your dog in the area too. Sometimes it can be hard to find but if you go up the bridge pathway, make a left and keep going straight, you will eventually see it on your left-hand side. When you cross the highway overpass onto the other side of the park, you're led to some sports fields and all the way to the back is a dog park! I like that this dog park is super shady - as in, there are a lot of tree shade! There is a teeny tiny trail to walk your dog behind the dog park and sports fields. Across the parking lot is another small footbridge that leads you on a sort of nature walk, which actually leads to the golf course. A golf course! The courts are well lit at night, so no issues with visibility while playing in the PM. Five stars for the fountain alone, even though my boyfriend and I disagree on its greatness. It could definitely use some more juice, a better paint job, and a better schedule, but it's so beautiful regardless!! I have lived across the street from this park for six years and have still yet to experience it in all its glory - mostly because I am lazy and hate exercise. The walk to the track is like a mile from West Side Avenue. Sorry but you want me to run after I walk almost a mile? If it's not a mile, it feels like it, and that's all I need. It is the host to events, picnics, bbqs, cute little man made ponds, whatever, you name it, including my favorite festival that always manages to give me some sort of food poisoning. Big up to the Philippine American Friendship Day Parade and Festival! I love you, even though most of your vendors never label the food and are definitely serving that meaty goodness in sweltering bacteria inducing conditions. In the movie "Ghost Dog" this is the park where Forest Whittaker's french speaking friend slings ice cream cones. Some random shots of thugs hanging out in the park would give someone the completely wrong idea. This is a great park that truly represents a cross section of Jersey City life. Locals of all ethnicity's playing tennis, basketball, cricket... you name it. It's a nice place to go running, which is why I'm usually here. Depending on your route one lap is roughly a mile, though there is a real track in the back if you want to use that (it's just too boring for me). Five stars because it's not the crack riddled, homeless den, horror movie it was when I was kid over 20 years ago. Seriously, if you went in the back there was a good chance you would wake up an addict and missing a kidney-if you were lucky!!! The tennis courts are great. It can get crowded so you have to be patient. Huge playground. The main road is now a one way to accommodate runners and bicyclist. The fountain if FINALLY getting fixed and renovated. Nice track. The back of the park over the bridge has some nice walking paths and an awesome dog run. The best dog run in the area actually. Love the Lincoln Park dog run. It has a very big, enclosed space and even has its own fire hydrant. The day that I went, it had rained earlier so it was extremely muddy but as expected so I had to give my dog a bath when coming back. I met some very friendly people, with lots of advice for our newly adopted pup. There was alot of parking around the dog park so no need to worry about that. I also realized that Lincoln Park itself is very large and has so many great features to explore. There's a golf course, tennis courts, track, gazebo and even a banquet hall for weddings. I have grown very fond of this park. It is probably one of the best parks in the area. Over the last two years, I have been playing softball here and watched my boyfriend play ball here in men's leagues as well. There are tons of fields to play on and they have both turf and dirt fields which are well maintained by the park staff. They have different parking sections for different areas of the park which is very convenient because like I said before, this place is huge. They also have a nice track and outdoor basketball courts as well. It also has a nice fountain and pond. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars as opposed to five is because there are limited bathroom areas and depending on your location are pretty far to get too. read more

JEFF, HOW DO YOU EAT SO MUCH AND NOT GAIN ANY WEIGHT??? If I only had a dollar.... That question, along with 'How do you afford to eat out every night?' is the other. Well, along with Rock Climbing, hitting the gym and purging, this is how. I digress. This is my default place to play Tennis down to 40 degrees. With 30 outdoor hard courts, there is hardly ever a wait...and NIGHT LIGHTS!!! There is a more formal process now in place for obtaining a court. You sign up in the Tennis Center and are issued a ticket for a time slot, usually 1hr. When it's not as busy, you may get away with 1.5hrs of consecutive play time. You or someone in your party must be a resident of Jersey City to play here. Utility bills can and will be checked. Often times there are lessons taught there and sometimes I see USTA tournaments in progress. 3-6pm on Weekdays is when a local High School plays there, s o its best to arrive shortly thereafter to avoid a wait. Crowd is mostly young High School Filipinos. There is also a wall for hitting if you are flying solo. This year, tennis night lights are on til 9pm for April and 10pm from May til November. I love this place not only for the night lights, but also the fact that it's free and never congested. Sure beats $10 per visit/$100 season pass in Manhattan where you wait an hour only to get kicked off after an hour! Often times you can simply get another court after your hour is up if you get kicked off! Withdrawal symptoms are experienced during Winter months, but that's what the USTA tents in Flushing are for. Not free, but you can get your fix there. Aside from the Tennis Courts, I also saw a running track, basketball courts, a BBQ area, and tons of parking. If you are wondering about safety, cops patrol the park constantly so yes, it's safe! Enough talking. Time to serve up some aces! P.S. I don't purge, but as you can see, it's not easy being an Adonis. read more

They've done a tremendous job rehabilitating this park from what it used to be. Looking forward to seeing the fountain again on summer nights. I play tennis here fairly frequently - it's a well-run and organized facility with a substantial amount of courts. The courts aren't all in stellar shape, there are some cracks here and there but they do have windscreens, and the court conditions haven't really interfered with my game too much. Jersey City is a pretty big city. Within this big city there is a "big city" park. It is not Liberty State Park. LSP is a wonderful park, but it is a relatively disconnected state park, so long as the "Governor" does not choose to consume the park. Jersey City's "big city" park is Lincoln Park, located a ways from the waterfront on the opposite side of town off of West Side Avenue. Technically a County park, it feels like Jersey City's own version of Prospect Park, minus the drumming and trucker hats. The area immediately around the West Side Avenue entrance to the park is gorgeous and the park itself is beautiful and chock full of facilities for all types of activities, formal and informal. Most notably, for me, there are 21 well-maintained and managed tennis courts with functioning lights. One must be a Hudson County resident in order to reserve a court at the tennis office next to the courts during the high season, when you may not be able to get a court until 10:00 pm on a weeknight. It's quite a party feeling on those hot summer weeknights. You will notice that the Philippines and India are extremely well-represented on the courts. Fear not, gringo tennis enthusiasts--it is reservations first-come-first serve, no matter your complexion. All are welcome; as should any public park be to. But one of you has to be a Hudson County resident. Before you dispatch the next Uber to go there, take a moment to become familiar with the NJ Transit 80 bus, and other private bus lines, some more mysterious than others (details at acbuscorp.com), that go from the waterfront all the way to Lincoln Park and beyond, for only $1.60. It is not the easiest system to figure out, and some of the buses can get delayed through Journal Square, while others take a different route up Montgomery Avenue, but you'll get to see a lot of Jersey City. And you'll get to use up that massive pile of change collecting in your apartment. read more

I have been coming to Lincoln Park since I was a very small child. I remember coming here when there was the blackout of 1977 in New York City, and everyone in the New York metro area was afraid of "The Son of Sam. My cousins and I used to play a game called "The Son of Sam" running from each other and from the thought that he might be in the park with us! For a long time there used to be a stigma with this park. Many feared being harassed, bullied by thugs from the nearby Duncan Projects, but since those projects are gone there's not much to be afraid of. Personally Lincoln Park park has been a delight these past few years. The people who clean the park take pretty good care of it. They should however start fining people for littering. The county police spend far too much time trying to give people tickets for driving. It would be nice if they enforced the law concerning litter. The tennis courts have been updated and they're quite nice. The track is great and the football field is great. They should make a soccer field because it would be great for the multi cultured demographic of Jersey City. I am troubled by the fact that the tennis courts are open past 10pm but the basketball courts close at 9:59 pm. Hmmmmm! Keep the basketball courts open longer and the kids will be there playing instead of being on the street! They could do a better job with the restrooms. Make them more pleasant please! read more

along 440 and into westside ave. and kennedy ave. i have had the luck and ease of just going to the park. its sunny and the day is beautiful, the kids are running about, some of us are in short shorts shakin' it up, some people are ready with their marinated meats for grilling and others have their athletic gear all set to go. lincoln park is spacious, with multiple fields, baseball diamonds, courts for all your sports-related needs. there are lovely shaded areas with abundant trees and vast grassy areas to contrast. there's also a fountain, tracks, nature trails, and a dog park that is huge but a bit out of the way. minus one star for the goosepoop all over and the tucked away dog park. read more

Great place to run and never too crowded. The road within the park is a little over a mile long, which gives you great points to train for 5//10/15k races. There is also a 400m track which is open to the public. Perfect for sprints, interval, and stair trainings. This is an awesome park with nice flat jogging, walking or biking trails. There are pretty gazebos, and public basketball and tennis courts, and baseball and soccer fields. The ponds are pretty when the fountains are on but sometimes smell a little funny. It's definitely not where you'd find dead bodies floating anymore, though. The park is well maintained with an obvious police presence for public safety. In the summer time, it is extremely vibrant with countless recreation enthusiasts enjoying the surroundings.
