I wish I could write a positive review about this place as a whole, but as I can only attest to the…read moreexperience with Dr. Bartlett that is the perspective I shall offer. First of all, the office is decorated nicely, quite rustic. I was informed the strange art pieces that throw off the feng shui of the delightful waiting room are brought in by one of the doctors or someone affiliated with one of the doctors. To whomever you are, stop. Stop now, unless you bring in something that doesn't completely throw off the room. It looks silly. From what I am able to observe of the other staff and general demographic here are my observations: One doctor is bubbly, another scowls to no end barring one situation she actually smiled at my son, the secretary is quite kind if not a bit timid for seemingly no reason at times, and as in all "psych" offices if you are into people-watching you won't find the freaks and geeks scene lacking. Now to the meat of this review, Dr. Bartlett himself. A lanky, seemingly timid man with little to no interest in his patients and their lives. He can perform basic testing with the best of them, but to become invested in his patients on a deeper level seems to be a bit of a stretch. After one therapy session he ceased to write in his notebook, and I had many more sessions after. I asked him why he did that, he asked if it bothered me, I said no so long as he can remember everything, and he nodded his head. He struggles to recall important details from week to week, me having visited him on a weekly basis compared to the usual bi-weekly standard. Dr. Bartlett is a very expressive man, often shifting his body weight away from you, smiling nervously, and increasing in perspiration as particular sessions get heated. This would be well and fine except following his over-expressive gestures all you will get in return are more lack-luster questions, questions that have been asked previously as if they were new. I can't recommend him unless you are looking for someone to go in to talk to casually, and occasionally feel as if you are getting somewhere just to have your session cut short by fifteen minutes. Yes, you are reading that right. Every session I attended was ended fifteen minutes early, and that led me to question if that is ethically or even legally acceptable. Dr. Bartlett also has the capacity, and will, to tell you that he does not give appointments after 4 PM which could turn out to be a lie when he mistakenly schedules you for 5 PM and gives you a card that says 4 PM. During that debacle I found his previous statements to be false, as he actually takes certain appointments up to 7 PM. God forbid he release the criterion necessary to get those appointment times. I'd go into further detail, but I feel I have made my point clear. I should have expected less from a practice located in the city of Topeka. You should lower the bar of expectation as well, that is, if you want to be satisfied with your therapy.
