Having no idea what to expect, we rang the doorbell for entrance and waited about 30 seconds for someone to unlock the door. Once inside, it was clear that this place had been accumulating weird souvenirs, Coke collectibles, vintage objects, and other odds and ends for decades. The small store is packed from floor to ceiling with knicknacks, assorted seashells, art pieces, and traditional beach town tourist junk that folks like me want to bring home as a memento of the visit. We found out that this store is one of the oldest continuously operated, family-run small businesses in Ft. Walton and will celebrate 50 years in 2022. The friendly lady behind the counter seemed to know details about everything in the store and was very engaged with all the customers. Our visit was brief, but I picked up my 2 essential souvenirs (a koozie and a magnet) for less than $10, with a free seashell included. I don't remember seeing more quality items in this type of shop in a long time I guess it's name "department store" really separates it from so many beach stores scattered along the coast. It was a difficult choice but we finally decided on a piece that we both liked. This is a shop that is a must visit if you're in the area, even if you're not shopping for a specific item you'll probably find something that you must have, it's a great place to find gifts, beach or everyday wear or something simple to remind you of your time in the area...

I visited this location before when it was a very run down and old thrift store. Yikes, it has come a long way now! De' France has done a great job with this new spot.
