SOCKS is our favorite thrift store in the area. We have been coming here for years on our annual trips. We always try to stop in a couple times during our stay in Destin. We were just there last week and it's still a great place. The prices are awesome and I love seeing Ace and Gabby, the 2 store cats that live there. The staff working there are great, too! This was an interesting place with a variety of items to look at. If you go in the back room prepare to dig through small tubs of random odds and ends. We ended up purchasing some dvds, clothing and Christmas ornaments, all priced reasonably. My only negative would be there wasn't a dressing room to try on my clothes before purchasing. Every time I bring a donation I go inside. I am consistently amazed at the ever improving quality of what is in the store. The amount of namebrand shoes, clothes, boots, and handbags is amazing. The people that work in the store are so very nice and will assist you in putting your purchase in the car if needed. There is always a sale of some kind so easy to find a treasure. The two store mascot cats are adorable and of course, all the money goes to a good cause. Photo is an artificial tree and a planter that I bought this year at SOCKS (in addition to other items). Wonderful place dedicated to saving our fur babies! Great idea to take donated items for a store allowing different ways people can support such an important part of the community. Its our job to take care of the animals and one another. There is is no greater happiness than loving and giving of ourselves to help and serve all God's babies. I wish we let more of fur babies outside as truly serve a big and important job around here to keep humans safe from high populations of rodents that have grown resistant to poison and lets face it poison is not the way. We have a food chain and animals that fit into tiers for reason of balance and chemicals that dont work only lead to making our precious environment polluted and toxic to delicate sea life. I absolutely love this thrift store. The prices are phenomenal. Yeah, they're not overpriced at all like all the other "thrift" stores everywhere. It's a true thrift store with true thrift store prices. Great items to choose from. And all the money goes to help so many four-legged feline friends. This store has the most interesting finds at very low prices. You can find designer clothing on any given day for as low as $1.00. On Thursdays they have their clothes 1/2 off so you can get adult clothing as low as 50 cents and small children's clothing as low as 25 cents! A great collection of books as well. The staff is super friendly and all the proceeds go to support the Save Our Cats & Kittens shelter located on the property. They also encourage folks to go into the shelter to pet the kitties and help socialize them for adoption. If you are in Fort Walton Beach and enjoy scoping out bargains, you must stop by! read more
