So you can imagine how I was dreading my visit to the oral surgeon. Thank goodness for Dr. Moncarz and the rest of the staff here. They were amazing. Friendly. Patient. Funny. Thorough. Dr. Moncarz himself was funny, friendly, and took the time to explain things to me in as much depth as I wanted. I was greatly reassured by the time I left my consultation appointment and arrived for my surgery feeling only minimally nervous. I was seen exactly on time for all of my appointments and everything seemed quite efficient while I was being seen. The staff were willing to work with me to book appointments around my crazy schedule. Dr Moncarz made sure I was armed with enough medications to deal with the pain I'd have after having four wisdom teeth (two impacted) removed under general anesthetic. He also reviewed the post-op instructions me with as well as providing a detailed handout that I could read again later. I even received a call from the office the day after my surgery checking in to see how things were going and address any questions. One star off because the clinic is a bit cluttered and the kind of dirty that happens when a place has been open for years and years. I have no concerns about safety (and I'm a nurse - I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of cleanliness and sterility), but the appearance of the place could have been more reassuring. That said, I was thrilled with the whole team and everything went as well as can be expected when you're having teeth yanked out of your head. I'd definitely recommend Dr. Moncarz should you ever be in need of similar services.

I recently had to see a dentist at 143 Sheppard Ave E. the…read moredentist I saw was Dr Eric Ebrahimi. I had a simple check up & the Dr.told me I need to get a tooth(moler) removed(as I was having some discomfort there) I was told that I also had another piece of something attached to the root of my moler that needed to be pulled as well. I was treated with so much care from Dr Ebrahimi to all the Ladies(staff) who always had a smile & kind words to make me feel more comfortable I was put to sleep due to some health issues & before I knew it...it was all over. The procedure took about 1/2hr & I was home relaxing & recovering within an hr. I had pain for the first day (which the Dr.warned me about) & it seemed to slow down by the next few days. I had a post op" appointment the following week & Dr Ebrahimi said everything looks great the gums are healing well. I have to say that this dentist office is so wonderful. I have been to the Danforth dentist office to & they are all amazing there to. I can't stop saying such nice things about this place. Your in good hands when you come here. Upon arrival at the building I was informed that the elevators were not working (for the whole building) so I climbed the 10 floors enjoying the morning exercise. However, the door to the floor was closed so I attempted to call the office, 5 tries later and no answer.... 10 minutes later somebody (not related to the office) opened the door. When I entered the office I explained what happened, people were not aware but there was one receptionist who almost challenged this chain of events (she just "didnt get" how it was possible). I even made a sarcastic joke that I was sorry for being 15 minutes early (9:15....) and its my fault....funny thing is that on their answering service (which picked up all those calling attempts) said that they are open from 8:30...but who is counting? There was no apology (even if token) but as I was filling the form I could hear this service oriented receptionist mumbling to her colleague about how un-believable my story was.... So for the first time in my life I just left. There are enough specialists in this city to deal with disrespectful service providers. Too many businesses keep "lifers" who dont really like their job and as a result treat us paying customers like just another number.

He's so good and so conscious of your pain level (of which I've had none). I almost feel asleep in his chair a number of times, and that is during a ROOT CANAL! He's a wonderful person and I trust him a lot.

This review has been long in the making!…read more I have been going to Dr. Shirley's dental practice for a few years now after many more years of unsatisfactory service with previous dentists. There are three main things I look for in a dentist: 1) Service/Care 2) Affordability 3) Visible Improvement 1. As soon as you walk into their quaint office you are greeted with a smile or two from the reception desk. Whether you are a walk-in or a regular, they know how to take care of you. Dr. Shirley has an excellent small team that you quickly get to know over just a few visits. I don't really like phone calls when I am at work and so they offered email appointment reminders and even automated text messaging to confirm or cancel appointments (which is a huge plus for me!). Dr. Shirley and her hygienist are good at what they do and they do it well. I thought my first few cleanings with them were painful but that was simply because I had not given oral health a priority in my life. Not only are they good at what they do, but they also educate you on the "hows" and "whys" of oral hygiene and personal cleaning regiments. I wasn't an avid flosser at all until Dr. Shirley & team encouraged me to floss regularly and I am happy with the results! 2. I have insurance coverage from my company but it doesn't take away the fact that their office administration fully mediates my bills and payments with my insurance company. They give me an update of my coverage and leftover balance upon request and it saves me so much time and needless paperwork. I have paid in cash a few times and their prices are comparable to surrounding practices in the area if not even cheaper due to their location. Plus they give you promotional coupons and gift cards for referring new clients. 3. Once in a while they still show me the x-ray of my teeth/gums from when I first came to them. Visible improvements indeed! I still have work to do over the next little while but Dr. Shirley and her team have been such a great help in the process. Note: One comment I do have is with schedules and time. If you know that you have a tight schedule on the day of your appointment, let the office know ahead of time. There have been a few times when my appointment was delayed for up to 15 minutes and while this doesn't affect me much, I know how it can be an issue for others. If they are ever running late with appointments (due to other patients arriving late) they are very apologetic about it and honestly I think it says more about their patients than it does about their practice. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Shirley's Dentistry especially if you are in the Scarborough area. She is a knowledgeable, experienced, good-humoured dentist supported by an excellent team of skilled, friendly assistants. Plus they give you a bag of goodies on your way out (no not candy, that would be counterintuitive)! The only thing missing short of 5 stars is a latté machine in their waiting area. I was brought back to the chair and the dentist greater me and made a point to shack my hand. (Point for that). She asked about my history and why I was changing dentist. I told her. She went over my teeth and made a couple of suggestions and told me my teeth were very good but I should floss, come in more ect. The best part and what would always stick in my head is her chair. It give me a message and it felt good I did not want to leave the chair and if it was for her hands in my mouth I could have. ( double points for the chair). She's very attention to detail! My mom said for the first time, she didn't even feel a thing during the cleaning. My mom said said it seems the other dentists seemed to be very nice too even when she's not their client. The clinic is clean and the staff are very friendly. My review is based off my initial phone interaction…read more I found this practice through OpenCare. Close to home and Costco and figured I would give it a try. I scheduled an appointment on OpenCare. They called me back a couple times which I unfortunately missed. I did call them multiple times to book an appointment. When I finally got through (after multiple attempts, different times during the day), the lady on the phone was aggressive, implying my fault I couldn't that when she called and couldn't reach me. Should've been the first red flag. I said I'm still interested in an appointment for cleaning and general check up. I mentioned I found them through OpenCare. Her verbatim to me, "Oh no. No OpenCare. We don't take open care. No more" I told her it shouldn't matter if I found them through OpenCare or not. I also mentioned I was interested in using insurance benefits with 100% coverage. Plus assuming they provided good services, I would come back as a long term patient. Guess they don't really understand the Customer Lifetime Value in dental practices. Who jumps through multiple dentist's anyway?! Our conversation turned short as soon as I mentioned Open Cafe. She dismissed the conversation and hung up rather quickly. The dental practitioners probably provides decent dental care. Too bad it's hard to experience their service considering their front office lacks skills required for patient facing and customer service. Would NOT RECOMMEND based on this interaction alone.
