Just an astonishing building surrounded by breathtaking views of San Sebastian. This culinary school has two restaurants; one is kind of informal (however the setting and decoration are outstanding); and the other one has a more sophisticated ambiance where a more elaborated sample-course meal is served. Starting from the welcome cocktail to the last dessert and coffee, this 8-course meal is outstanding. The flavors and presentation are outstanding. They make you feel you are dining in any of the top restaurants in the world. And given that this is a culinary school and the cooks and waitstaff are all students, they are all trying their best to provide not only an amazing food product, but also an overall experience for your remaining senses. Every dish was beautifully executed and carefully explained when served. Same way with the wine. Each dish was perfectly paired with a delicious wine. This was an experience like no other. Also, you can notice the professors on the floor making sure that everyone was taking care of the way it should, but is a way that you would forget you are in a restaurant basically run by students. All my admiration to every single student that made this experience memorable. If in San Sebastian, I highly recommend paying a visit to this place. Since I had such a great experience learning in Lima, I figured I could benefit from a lesson or two in San Sebastián, where the beach was better, but catching waves was not. I was satisfied with the services offered at the surf shop, but the instruction itself was... disappointing at best. Maybe the instructor was having an off-day, but he could at least have informed me that the waves and the surf-zones were constantly in a state of flux -- the poles denoting the swimming versus surfing zones literally changed from one minute to the next, in some of the most dramatic instances. This was something that was wildly different than my previous experience, and it would have been helpful to know in advance. This one only *one* of the things I took offense at, but it was the most glaring deficiency. Maybe he just expected me to know beforehand; but again, this was crazy different from my first surfing experience, which was in Lima. Final rating: 5 out of 10 stars. Go for the rentals, but be wary of the quality of instruction.

The team is composed of very experienced chefs, who love to teach and go out of their way to create an unforgettable experience for you. Lara, the office manager goes out of her way to make you and your guests happy. While the classes are awesome, there is another side to the school, you can book the entire place for team building or team rewards, rehearsal dinner party, birthday celebrations, etc. If you go to San Sebastian, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, make MIMO a stop on your journey.
