I quite easily whiled away half an hour just looking at all the beautifully unusual jewellery they have - think tanzanite and moonstone rather than more run of the mill stuff. There's also lots of pretty knick knacks that would make great gifts, like mosaic candle holders and little crafty hanging decorations. If I'd started buying things for myself I'm not sure where I would've stopped so I had to be strict, and just picked up a gift for a friend. This was a cute little trunk-shaped trinket box patterned with maps (which I definitely have a fetish for) and for £5 was a bargain. As if that wasn't enough, a nice little chat with the friendly guy at the counter made sure I left with a smile on my face too :)

There was a copy of 'The Chap' magazine (produced in Lewes) on display in the menswear section, which set the tone for the rest of the shop. The guy that runs it is sweet, and obviously an enthusiastic collector. I'd recommend this place for an interesting present, or just a place to pass a bit of time!

One of the stones got loose and I took it there to have it fixed last week. They not only offered to replace it , but also to size it so it fits better and post it once it's finished. They sent it off to be resized and when the ring came back there was a small scratch across 2 facets of the diamond. The proprietor refused to take any responsibility for this, even though one of his staff members had already told us it had probably happened when it was being resized. He advised he would polish the scratch out. In the mean time I had been independently advised by a diamond expert of Bentley and Skinners Fine Antique Jewellers of Mayfair, London that by polishing the scratch out we would lose to much of the stone and therefore devalue the ring. The proprietor refused to accept this and offered no apology or any kind of compensation to us. He claimed that the scratch did not affect the value of the ring! I might not be an expert in diamonds but I'm certainly not stupid. Though he has some beautiful antiques I would not advise anyone to do business with this person.

The shop is located within the Enterprise Centre in Eastbourne town centre, on the first floor - there are some steepish stairs you'll need to ascend to get to it. It is a tiny 'shop', if you can even call it that because it's literally just a counter going across the front almost as soon as you walk in, with all of the tools and machines of the trade behind it. They do made to order jewellery and repairs etc and if you need or want something that the fella can't do (like specialist engraving) then he always knows someone who can do it and will make the necessary arrangements.
