The owner cut my hair but was more distracted by everything else going on in the shop that I could have been a mannequin sitting in her chair and gone unnoticed. COMPLETELY different experience with Up Your Hair. I was immediately greeted with a hello and friendly smile (first impressions are very important to me) by Caitlin. And even though Joseph was wrapping up his previous client, he came over to say hello and check things out (since I'm a new client) just before I got under the sink. Again, very important. Next, Joseph asked questions and actually LISTENED before taking the first snip. I have slightly curly thin hair cut in long layers about shoulder length, and have been "trying out" a side bang. It's been months since I've had it cut Joseph was terrific about explaining what he was doing and getting everything back in shape. He also gets the "wash and wear" lifestyle and didn't insist on blowing my curls out straight like so many stylists do. Why do you do that, stylists?!! It's going to last 30 seconds out in this humidity! The ease of booking an appointment online was just one more added bonus. I promise you that I'm not related to Joseph or Caitlin, I found them through a Google search (even though I live just over a mile away - never saw their storefront!). They are a small business doing things right, and I really wish them success. I'll definitely return!

I was super fortunate to find Erika, who gave me a great cut and also went above and beyond to help me get to where I needed to be the first day I met her! I just visited her salon again this week and was reminded how talented Erika truly is. I had a bad cut (from the last one-hitter I tried) and brassy faded color I swear I will never repeat (because red sucks). She gave me a fantastic cut, exactly the direction I wanted to take my hair, and she fit me in at the last minute for color. This was the first time she had ever colored my hair, and she is a GENIUS at color. She knew EXACTLY what to do to fix my color (lift at the root, gloss at the ends) and EXACTLY what color to apply and how to apply it to get rid of the brass without creating a flat one-dimensional result. This is, hands-down, THE BEST color I've ever had, anywhere, and the most happy I've been with my hair in YEARS! I am also impressed that her prices are very reasonable and she doesn't try to sell you on anything that won't work well with your hair type. She also won't ratify anything she knows you won't ultimately be happy with - she's 100% a straight shooter and won't lead you wrong.
